100X Return System: My Talent Awakening Becomes a God-Level Cheat
Chapter 103: Gone Wrong!
Both men were perplexed by this. Not only by his words, but also that he was telling the truth.
They looked around, one of them even going as far as checking the toilet of the office but he didn’t see anyone there.
Both men came back to where Aegon was, feeling embarrassed by the situation. One of them had a slight smile on his face, while the other had a cold expression.
"He was supposed to be here!" One of them muttered.
They both knew what was going on, and definitely should have anticipated it.
Aegon was looking at their expressions, he had an expressionless face but was perplexed as to why they were both having different expressions.
So he asked, "Are you sure he didn’t step out?"
At this moment, both men were facing each other, then turned to face Aegon. They didn’t want him to speak, so that he doesn’t see them as incapable.
The thing is, they had made such a grand gesture for inviting him to the guild, even going as far as convincing him to come to the guild’s building if he couldn’t decide yet.
However, all that was wasted. They had expected that, after all that effort, he would at least meet George, who would have be able to convince Aegon to join their group.
But, what did they get for their hard work?
Both men now felt that they had disappointed Aegon. They were feeling embarrassed that after all they had made the guild and their master sound like the best, they couldn’t keep their own end.
"I don’t... you know what? Let me check first!" The man that spoke took off his glasses, displaying his blue eyes.
The man took out his phone from inside the side of his suit pocket, pressed on it a couple times and placed the phone by the side of his left ear. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"Annabelle?" He called out walking a little distance away from Aegon and the other man, to take the call.
After he had left, the other man looked at Aegon and tried to smile even though he was supposed to be displaying a cold expression.
His aim was that he didn’t want Aegon to leave or think of the guild as incapable.
Aegon had seen the beautiful structure of the building, the lovely people, and how organized the whole place was, so it would be a waste if after all that, Aegon decides to leave in disappointment.
’This people...’ Aegon thought inwardly.
Aegon, who didn’t want to stand and be waiting, started walking forward, to the center of the room.
The man who was beside Aegon, saw him and was about to speak to stop him. However, after reasoning it a bit, he knew that wasn’t the best idea.
So he didn’t utter any word, leaving Aegon to explore the office.
Aegon walked to the center of the office, there were about four couches placed there, around each other.
Their designs are spectacular like they had been designed by the top upholsterers.
From the curve style of the wooden frames to the springs and padding, and finally the fabric covering.
All of it was top notch. The fabric coverings were colored dark blue likewise the glass table at the center of the couches.
The set of both the couches and the table was like they were made to be in a full living area. However, they were placed in an office.
Aegon walked past these furnitures to the space where there were shelves. Various shelves were standing at the left side of Aegon.
At this current position, where he was standing, to his left were the shelves, and to his right was a massive window that stretched from the ground to the top.
The windows covered almost half of the wall at his right. Outside the window, it displayed a decent part of the city.
This caught Aegon’s attention and he walked towards the window leaving the shelves.
The man who was standing before him, using his eyes, followed every movement of Aegon.
He was worried that leaving Aegon to explore their guild master’s office was kind of dangerous and somewhat disrespectful.
But since he couldn’t stop him because of the situation they were in, he decided to watch him instead, while the other man was on a call.
All the while he was following Aegon’s movement with his eyes, he had noticed that Aegon hadn’t touched a single thing.
His hands were placed inside his jacket, his movement slow and cautious not to pump into anything.
Now that Aegon had walked towards the window, the man felt a sudden rush of feeling in his chest.
This was a sign of pride, the one true pride of the guild master’s office. With this feeling, he was pushed to say something, so he uttered.
"This is the only guild master’s office with such a large window." He turned to Aegon while saying this.
Aegon, who heard these words, turned his head to the man, then back at the window. He didn’t utter a word but simply continued enjoying the scenery.
The man, seeing that what he had said made no impression on Aegon, felt stupid for actually speaking.
His lips curved up to a forced smile as if wanting to keep it friendly, but he knew since they had met Aegon, Aegon has only said a few words, only speaking when he wanted to ask a question.
’The only one of all the guild masters office huh? Is he trying to leave an impression on me?’ Aegon wondered in his heart while looking at the magnificent view before him.
The area was indeed something to be proud of. The view displayed a part of the city that didn’t look cramped with buildings.
At the area, there were lesser tall buildings, a river at the side that brought in natural wind, but far, in a distance, at the left side, the association building could still be seen.
The association building was built at the center of Xemburg City, and from its massive size, it could be seen from every part of the city.
While still looking, at a certain distance, Aegon saw a bright glowing light that suddenly appeared at the back of middle-sized building.
He strained his eyes to see what it was, but because of the building blocking his entire view he couldn’t make out what it was.
Since he couldn’t, Aegon took it as nothing and was done looking at this beautiful part of the city. So, he turned his head, looking at the man who was supposed to be watching his movement.
However, the man had turned his focus away from Aegon and was now looking at the other man, who had finished making the call, and was now on his way with a somewhat disappointed expression.
"What is the matter?" The man asked, looking at the one who had taken the call.
The man who had just taken the call walked towards the other man, then waited for Aegon who was walking towards them to arrive.
Upon arriving, Aegon was about to speak but was suddenly cut short by the man who had taken the call, he spoke out.
"Apologies for the inconvenience!" He uttered, bending his head forward towards Aegon. Then, he raised it up and continued, "The guild master isn’t around. He went for a sudden meeting with the other guild masters and the chairman of the association. I regret to tell you that you might not meet him today."
After the words were spoken, the other man who was looking at the one speaking, turned his gaze to Aegon to see his expression.
However, Aegon still had his expressionless face. There was no emotion there, nothing that could give a hint of what he was thinking.
The man who had spoken, also seeing this, wanted to speak again, but this time got cut short by Aegon.
"It doesn’t matter. He’s a busy person, understandable. So, will I be waiting or coming back?"
Both men suddenly turned to each other, looking at themselves with a smile on their faces.
They were surprised he were still interested in the guild, either staying to wait or coming back another day.
Either way, their efforts weren’t in vain. Both men then turned to Aegon and spoke out,
"You can wait!"
"But if you want to wait, I suggest you wait in the lobby of the office." The man who took the call spoke.
"Lobby? I didn’t see anything coming here!" Aegon asked, yet his expression still remained the same.
"Haha, that’s because we didn’t follow the usual way." The other man spoke out. "Please this way!"
Both men and Aegon left the office of the George. While they were outside the office, they walked in the long hallway passing the elevator and going forward.
Aegon was puzzled by this, not knowing what could come out from this journey. Just then, he saw a right corner at a distance and was waiting in anticipation for what was after it.
"The wait room is just right that way!" The man at the front spoke out.
Aegon followed suit, while the second man was behind him. They reached the end of the hallway and turned to their right.
Here, there was another long hallway, but they didn’t need to walk so far, as the man at the front stopped and uttered, "We are here!"
He opened a transparent door and inside was a small room with chairs and on the wall a large screen that was turned on.
Aegon entered and was about to sit when he suddenly heard the context that was coming out of the screen.
Breaking news! Just in, it had been discovered that blue rifts have been appearing around the city, releasing monsters. The association is calling them gates and the people are speculating it has a direct link with the Abyss! Nobody knows how this happened or what is causing it, but, one thing is for sure... things have definitely gone wrong!
