10x Rewards: Becoming Invincible With My Sign-in System - Chapter 272: Everyone Gets One
Aegon remained silent to let the others compose themselves. He understood their feelings. After all, not every day do you see a world-changing invention unraveling before you by its creator.
Worse, the said creator was just sixteen years old. Though Aegon doubted any of them remembered that fact. They had long stopped thinking about his age because of his abnormal nature.
When things seemed to settle down, Arthur exclaimed, "This can change our whole stance against the Demons. We will have so much advantage over them with this. We could..."
"Art!" Liliana’s voice stopped him. "Please don’t bring this up now."
Arthur wanted to argue more about how useful the Soul Essence Batteries would be on the battlefield, but he swallowed those words back. He knew Liliana very well, so he knew about her stance on her inventions being used to kill.
So, he simply nodded and sat back.
"Marshal, this is just the beginning, so please have some patience," Aegon smiled and said. "Once this becomes public, you can try your ideas with it. I’ll give you some early samples if you want."
"I appreciate it." Arthur nodded at him. "Though, I’ll need His Majesty’s permission to deploy such tactics."
"I’ve handed over the army to your House long ago," Samuel just waved his hand in response. "Do whatever you want."
"This isn’t appropriate, Your Majesty," Arthur sighed. "You shouldn’t give away such power to others. What if they rebel?"
"Are you going to rebel?" Samuel asked, his voice turning serious.
"What?" Arthur was taken aback. "Of course not. I wouldn’t dare even think about it."
"There you have it. It’s in safe hands."
Aegon was speechless. ’So you believed him just because he said it? What the hell?’
Even Micheal was facepalming beside Arthur. He muttered, "Father, it’s embarrassing."
"Your presence is an embarrassment for me already," Samuel argued in return. "Also, you should call me uncle when we’re alone like this."
Arthur nodded and sighed.
’Am I dealing with kids?’ Aegon rolled his eyes and glanced to his sides.
His friends were giving strange looks to Samuel, his mighty image as an Emperor crumbling away in their minds, even though they already knew he was a bit weird.
Of course, Xiu’s silence didn’t go unnoticed.
"In any case, this Soul Essence Battery can store Soul Essence from Soul Cultivators, which they can use later. There’s no other way to charge it, and they’re made from pretty expensive materials, so they can’t be mass-produced either," Aegon explained.
"Which shouldn’t be an issue considering the number of Soul Cultivators," Kai said, but then realised he had interrupted Aegon. "Apologies. The man forgot his place for a second."
"You’re right on that," Aegon waved his hand dismissively. "This was a secondary product anyway. I wouldn’t have made it if it wasn’t necessary for the main one."
Others were left speechless. Was this the gap between them and prodigies? He created such a miracle as a side product. It truly was ridiculous and unfair.
Meanwhile, Liliana sat amused in her seat. She wondered how they would react upon learning that Aegon had created this in a single day without any prior planning.
"He’s crazy," Claire muttered, sitting beside her.
"He certainly is."
Then she stood up and went forward upon getting Aegon’s signal. After taking out strange deep-black machine parts, they set them up together in the courtyard’s centre.
"I’ll do the demonstration for you," Aegon smiled widely as Liliana came to stand beside him. "Watch carefully, as you’ll be the first to witness this aside from its creators."
He inserted the Soul Essence Battery—he really needed a new name for it—in its position, then took out a palm-sized orange, seemingly ordinary box.
After putting it between the slabs, Aegon started the machine, letting the two slabs connect and make a hollow chamber in which the orange box rested.
Bright light shimmered from the machine and illuminated the courtyard, all eyes stuck on it with the light reflecting in their eyes. They could have spread their senses and seen everything happening inside.
They were powerful enough to do that.
But they didn’t.
All of them simply waited, anticipation building up in their hearts. Soon, the light disappeared, and they saw the slabs separating, leaving the orange box behind.
It looked ordinary like before, but there was something different about it. They could sense it. All of them were powerful people and connected to the world one way or another, so they could sense the effect the orange box had on its surroundings.
"Lo and behold! The first-ever Mana Battery to be created," Aegon shouted, drumming and giving music in the background. "Wait! Who set that up?"
Ignoring his words, Samuel asked, "Can I see it?" 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
"Sure, it’s not like it’s expensive to make," Aegon grinned and said. "Just give me a few minutes."
In the next few minutes, they witnessed the machine working again and again, as it made multiple Mana Batteries right before their eyes.
They couldn’t believe it.
Mana Stones were precious, especially those of higher ranks. Nobles spent lots of resources mining them because they were always in demand and valuable. One could never suffer losses trading them, but the problem was the reserves.
They were formed naturally under the crushing pressure of the earth and isolation from the main world. The process was gradual, much slower than the rate at which they were being mined.
Everyone knew that there would come a day with no Mana Stones left, and that day humanity would suffer a great loss.
Yet, they couldn’t stop it as Mana Stones were an essential part of people’s lives, at least for all the important people. Their absence would cause humanity’s fall.
Or so the philosophers believed.
But now, they had a solution to one of their greatest problems right before their eyes. And it was being produced so quickly, making them wonder if it was really so valuable.
"Tada! Everyone now has a Mana Battery, though deposit the payment for it before leaving the mansion. I want money for this, of course."
Samuel stared deeply at the Mana Battery in his hand and furrowed his brow. "Where is the mana coming from?"
