"I should go in person. Mingmei doesn’t hold her liquor well. I’ll feel more at ease making her a cocktail myself." Jin Chenye said and, without paying any attention to Yu Xiuzhun’s suddenly darkened face, started walking toward the drinks area.

The poker table area where they were was crowded; Yu Xiuzhun wasn’t just openly teasing Ye Mingmei.

"Miss Ye, you’re so lucky. It’s obvious that Mr. Jin seems to care about you a lot. Are you two a couple?" Yang Meilan’s eyes sparkled, and a quirky smile appeared on her pretty face as she casually asked. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

"Uh?" Ye Mingmei was looking down, nervously picking at her palm, and when she heard Yang Meilan’s words, she raised her head in confusion.

When she realized what was going on, she instinctively glanced at Yu Xiuzhun, whose face was darkened.

"No, he’s just my senior."

"You’re not a couple?" Yang Meilan seemed quite surprised, her mouth slightly open. "He’s so considerate of you, holding your hand everywhere like he’s afraid you’ll get lost, even personally making you a cocktail. I wonder when I’ll have a man who treats me so well."

As Yang Meilan spoke, she shyly glanced at Yu Xiuzhun’s stern face.

The blush on her face was obvious to anyone.

"That’s just how my senior is; he’s nice to everyone. You just don’t know him well yet." When Ye Mingmei mentioned Jin Chenye, a smile appeared in her eyes.

Putting aside their relationship, Jin Chenye really is an impeccable man.

Capable and successful, considerate, patient, and he always gives off a warm and pleasant feeling.

Being with him, no matter what you’re doing, makes you feel at ease.

Ye Mingmei smiled, her small face becoming lively and radiant, dazzling like sunlight.

But for Yu Xiuzhun, it stirred up an inexplicable anger in him, almost burning away his reason.

The hand resting on the table clenched until it creaked.

"What are you talking about, having so much fun?" Jin Chenye came back holding a cocktail and placed it in front of Ye Mingmei.

He raised an eyebrow at the smile on her face.

Seeing her so happily smiling in front of Yu Xiuzhun was a rare sight and somewhat surprising for Jin Chenye.

"I was praising my senior, listing all your good qualities for Miss Yang. If you don’t treat me to a meal someday, it wouldn’t do justice to my hard work in promoting you."

Ye Mingmei instinctively responded to his words.

Her smiling demeanor thoroughly pierced Yu Xiuzhun’s eyes.

"Are you done dawdling? Are we going to play a few rounds of cards or drag it out until the party ends?" Yu Xiuzhun’s cold and harsh voice suddenly rang out, somewhat abrupt and startling to some.

The first to be startled was Ye Mingmei, sitting opposite him.

Suddenly reminded of Yu Xiuzhun, the smile on Ye Mingmei’s lips vanished instantly.

Nervously reaching out to grab the wine glass in front of her.

Even Yang Meilan was taken aback by Yu Xiuzhun’s sudden anger. She turned her head to meet the man’s displeased, wicked eyes and said nothing further.

"Let’s start then." Jin Chenye reached out, took off his jacket, and hung it on the back of the chair.

His handsome figure sat down at the table, speaking freely.

"How does Mr. Yu want to play?" Jin Chenye glanced at the only pile of cards on the table, warmth in his eyes veiled by a hint of darkness.

"Since we’re going to play, let’s add a wager to make it interesting. Otherwise, just playing like this is boring, isn’t it?" Yu Xiuzhun tapped the table with his long fingers, glancing at Ye Mingmei.

"What kind of wager does Mr. Yu want to play for?"
