Chapter 520: The Chubby Koi in the Little Garden

Early the next morning, when Xu Mumu woke up, Yin Yang was already up, sitting not far away reading a book.

"Why didn’t you call me when you got up?" Xu Mumu rubbed her eyes. She hadn’t slept so comfortably in a long time. At home, Yin Yang would keep her busy every day, so it wasn’t surprising she got pregnant so quickly.

"You’re pregnant now, you need to rest well," Yin Yang said with a smile.

"Get up quickly, breakfast is ready. You can eat as soon as you’re up," Yin Yang said gently.

Xu Mumu nodded, dressed and washed up, then went outside. The table was already set with a variety of delicate dishes, all prepared by the old butler for her pregnancy.

"So much food," Xu Mumu twitched her mouth. Her appetite was good, but so much for breakfast?

"You don’t have to finish it, there are plenty of people in the old house, nothing will be wasted," Yin Yang said calmly. If it weren’t for Xu Mumu’s pregnancy, they might have prepared even more.

Alright, Xu Mumu didn’t act coy. Yin Yang hadn’t had breakfast either, so he joined her.

The breakfast prepared at the Yin Family residence was very flavorful and appetizing for Xu Mumu. She ended up eating most of it, with not much left.

The old butler, watching, was startled. How could the young mistress eat so much at once? Is it really okay?

But seeing the young couple’s usual demeanor, he didn’t know how to approach the subject. He planned to quietly ask the young master later.

After breakfast, some accounting books from Lan City were brought over.

As Yin Yang flipped through the books, he discussed the family’s business with Xu Mumu, explaining the specifics.

Though Xu Mumu wasn’t business-savvy, as his wife, she needed to understand these things in case some decisions had to be made in his absence.

Xu Mumu listened, a bit bored, treating it as prenatal education for their child, hoping the child would be smart enough to handle the Yin Family affairs easily in the future.

Yin Yang didn’t know her thoughts. He just hoped she would learn more and be able to help make decisions if necessary.

The couple, sharing and listening, made for a very warm scene.

"Young master, people from the Yun Family are here. It’s Young Master Yun’s men," the old butler approached and whispered.

"Yun Ji’s men? What brings them here?" Yin Yang asked with a slight frown. He didn’t wish to have any contact with Yun Ji.

"Young Master Yun invites you to Qingfeng Building for tea," the old butler said warmly. Qingfeng Building was one of the Yun Family’s ventures.

"No, I’m not going. Decline it," Yin Yang shook his head and refused outright. He had no good relationship with Yun Ji and nothing worth discussing.

"Yes, young master," the old butler nodded. As policies had relaxed over the past two years, the Yun Family’s actions became more audacious; although the old butler wasn’t much involved anymore, he still knew some things about them. Many of their ventures were less than legitimate.

Both the old butler and Yin Yang were aware of these things, which was why Yin Yang was even more unwilling to associate with Yun Ji.

If any of the officials placed by the Yun Family in Lan City got investigated, the Yun Family would be the first to fall.

Xu Mumu was unaware of this. She only knew the Yin and Yun Families didn’t get along well.

Knowing she was unaware, Yin Yang didn’t plan to tell her, to keep her ears free from such filth.

After refusing, Yin Yang continued instructing Xu Mumu about the Yin Family’s ventures and how to handle potential problems.

"Do you understand?" Yin Yang looked at the slightly drowsy young wife with some helplessness. Indeed, these things were quite dull.

"Not really, I’m sleepy," Xu Mumu rested her head on the table, unwilling to move.

"It’s almost lunchtime. Eat, then nap," Yin Yang pinched her cheek. It was already past eleven, and it wasn’t too late to sleep after lunch.

"Okay," Xu Mumu nodded. The ancestor worship was scheduled for tomorrow. The Yin Family’s ancestral tablets were kept well in the ancestral hall. They just needed to make a visit with Yin Yang.

Originally, more complex rituals were planned, but due to her pregnancy, Yin Yang had the old butler skip unnecessary parts, just a simple ceremony would suffice.

The lunch was also nutritious and very appropriate for a pregnant woman.

Xu Mumu ate the meal contentedly, thinking the Yin Family chef was even better than Mrs. Liu. The food was simply delicious.

"Yin Yang, the chef’s food tastes amazing," Xu Mumu said contentedly, tempted to stay here so she could eat such wonderful meals every day.

But she quickly dismissed the thought. Living here would doom her weight loss plans; she’d only grow horizontally.

"If you like it, have more. If you really enjoy it, we can bring her home with us," Yin Yang chuckled.

"Better not. If she’s with us, I definitely won’t control my appetite and will end up as a big fatty," Xu Mumu shook her head quickly.

Yin Yang didn’t insist. There were restaurants with decent food, and if she wanted something tasty, eating out was always an option.

After lunch, Yin Yang accompanied Xu Mumu for a walk in the backyard. There was a garden with various flowers and a small pond in the center.

The pond was home to many koi, and Yin Yang gave Xu Mumu a small dish of fish food to feed them.

Looking at the chubby koi, Xu Mumu threw some food in, and immediately, the koi swam over swiftly to eat.

"I heard many koi die from overeating. These fish are so plump," Xu Mumu laughed. The fish were quite large, clearly having been raised for many years.

"They were fed by Sir Cao and others. My grandfather raised them, and after he passed, Sir Cao and others took great care of the koi, feeding them abundantly every day," Yin Yang sighed. He had long noticed the fish’s plumpness, and they had been like this for years; how many had died, he didn’t know. "They’ve been overfed, growing this plump," Xu Mumu chuckled.
