A Beauty In An All-Male Alpha Academy
Chapter 325: Kaito’s Girlfriend?
Angela slept almost at once after everything that happened, her body too tired to stay awake. She only woke when a loud noise broke the silence.
The past week had drained her more than she realized, but even so, she did not expect to sleep this deeply. Her eyes struggled to open, heavy and slow, and it took a moment for her to notice that the room felt different.
This was not the room they had all shared. As she looked around again, her chest tightened when she saw no sign of her mates anywhere.
Fear rushed through her as she sat up quickly, her heart pounding hard against her ribs. Did they bring her here while she was asleep. If they did, then why.
The questions crowded her mind, each one making her breath shorter than the last.
Then she looked around more carefully, and something about the room struck her. It felt familiar.
Her gaze landed on a large rack of shoes neatly arranged on the other side of the room.
A small smile slowly formed on her lips as a memory surfaced. It reminded her of her first day at the west dormitory, when she had mistakenly walked into a room that belonged to the Alpha of the West.
The room was so neat back then that it had scared her. She had wondered how she could ever live with someone so orderly.
Now, standing here again, the feeling returned. Angela slid out of the bed, realizing she had no clothes on. She moved to the wardrobe and opened it, only to freeze in place. Rows upon rows of clothes hung neatly inside, so many that she could not speak for a moment.
She picked a black shirt and slipped it on. As she was about to close the wardrobe, something caught her eye. A diary. Her heart skipped.
Her mind warned her to leave it alone because it was personal, because she should respect his privacy. She hesitated, her hand hovering in the air, torn between sense and curiosity.
Another thought pushed forward, louder than the first. Before she could stop herself, Angela picked up the diary.
Her wolf stirred uneasily, warning her again and again, telling her not to do this. No, Angela. Do not do this. She whispered the words to herself, but her fingers did not listen.
She was about to put it back when something inside made her pause. A photo slipped out. It was a picture of a girl standing close to Kaito. Angela’s heart jumped painfully as she stared at it, her fingers trembling. Who was this girl, and why was she inside her mate’s diary.
Her mind raced. Could this be an ex girlfriend. But Kaito had told her many times that he had never been in a relationship.
She looked around the room and noticed there were no pictures on the walls. That made it worse. This one had to be important, important enough for him to hide it away.
Angela went back to sit on the bed, the diary clutched tightly in her hand. She took a deep breath, then another, trying to calm herself.
She was scared to open it, scared of what she might find inside. Had Kaito been lying to her all this time. The thought hurt more than she wanted to admit.
The girl in the photo did not look like him at all. There was no resemblance between them, and that only deepened the ache in her chest.
Angela slowly lifted the diary, ready to open the pages, when a knock suddenly sounded on the door. Her eyes widened in panic as she quickly hid the diary behind her back.
"Yes, you can come in," she said, her voice barely audible. Pain settled deep inside her as she forced herself not to think about the photo.
Whoever that girl was, there had to be an explanation, and she would get it from Kaito, whether he liked it or not.
The door opened, and Seraphina walked into the room, leaving it open behind her. Hailey followed closely, a makeup kit held firmly in her hands. Both of them looked relieved and happy when they saw Angela.
"Look at her, you finally woke up," Seraphina said as she sat beside her on the bed. "Taros asked us to do your makeup before anyone sees you and recognizes you as the Angel of the Alpha Academy."
"I heard Kaito’s father almost caught you," Hailey added as she placed the makeup kit on the drawer. She opened it and studied Angela’s face closely. "That man is smarter than I thought. What kind of makeup do you want? The party has already started, and soon the council will make an announcement. I heard them saying they will crown the boys today."
"That is good news, right?" Seraphina asked, glancing at Angela when she noticed her silence. "You are not saying anything."
"Congratulations to them," Angela sighed as she lay back on the bed, staring at the ceiling. She tried hard to hold back the tears building in her eyes, but the pain in her chest made it difficult.
"What is going on?" Hailey asked in surprise, stepping closer when she sensed something was wrong. One look at Angela’s face made her heart sink. "Angela, you are crying. What is happening? You are scaring us."
"Are those tears?" Seraphina asked, shock written all over her face as she realized this was not normal. "Did you fight with the alphas?"
"You have to tell us what is going on," Hailey said, her voice tight with worry and frustration.
"Kaito has been lying to me," Angela finally said, her voice breaking. The tears she had been holding back spilled freely, burning her eyes as they rolled down her cheeks. "I think he has been lying to me for a long time. I am starting to doubt not just him, but all of them."
"Why would you think that?" Seraphina asked, fear filling her voice. Just a few hours ago, Angela had been fine. Something must have happened. Something she saw or heard. The thought made Seraphina uneasy as she waited for Angela to speak again.
"Sounds like you to me," Hailey blurted out. She noticed how quickly both of them turned to look at her, but she did not back down. "Hate me all you want, but it is the truth. Angela has not been truthful from the beginning, and she should not expect complete honesty when she did not give it either."
"You are not helping matters, Hailey," Seraphina said firmly. She then turned back to Angela, her voice softer. "She did not mean what she said."
"Of course she did, and I am not angry with her," Angela said as she sat up straight. "My relationship with my mates started badly. I never thought we would end up together. I told many lies just to protect myself. Things only began to change when I accepted our bond. We made a promise to each other to never lie, especially not to keep secrets. Kaito knows how much I hate when they keep secrets from me. That is why I expected him to tell me the truth about his past."
"What kind of past are you talking about?" Seraphina asked, confused. She looked at Hailey, hoping she understood, but Hailey only shook her head.
"Kaito has been in a relationship before, and he lied to me about it," Angela said, her voice breaking as she burst into tears. The room fell silent as her words sank in.
Seraphina moved closer and pulled her into a hug, gently rubbing her back. "That is not true," she said softly, even though she was not sure herself.
"I do not believe it either," Hailey added with a small shrug. "Kaito has never been in a relationship. Yes, the alphas may have slept with girls in the past, but there was nothing serious enough for you to be crying like this."
"I agree with Hailey. You are exaggerating all of this, or could this be pregnancy hormones," Seraphina said, then suddenly stopped. Her eyes widened in surprise as she gently pulled away from the hug to look closely at Angela.
Angela sighed and placed a hand on her forehead. Without saying another word, she reached behind her and brought out the photo, holding it up for them to see. The happiness on their faces slowly faded, not into shock, but into confusion. "You are both wrong," Angela said quietly. "I am not pregnant, and my hormones are not overreacting."
"What is this?" Seraphina asked as she took the photo from Angela. She stared at it for a long moment while Hailey stepped closer to see clearly. It was a picture of Kaito standing beside a strange girl they had never seen before. "This could be no one," Seraphina said carefully. "Have you asked him about it?"
"What are you saying, Seraphina?" Angela asked, hurt flashing in her eyes when she realized they were still taking his side. "He kept it inside his diary. That means it is important."
"It could be his cousin," Hailey said with a shrug, refusing to believe the girl in the photo was Kaito’s girlfriend. "If there was someone like that, Taros would have told me."
"I am sorry, but I agree with Hailey on this," Seraphina said as she was about to hand the photo back. She suddenly paused when something caught her attention at the back of the picture. "Wait. Look at this."
"What?" Angela quickly got off the bed and leaned closer. She took the photo and turned it over. Her eyes widened in shock as memory hit her all at once. "K Kaine?"
"You know her?" Seraphina asked, staring closely at Angela’s face.
"Yes. I mean, not really," Angela said, struggling to breathe properly. She had heard that name many times from Kaito’s lips whenever he was unconscious. She had asked him about it before, but he never gave her an answer. Now she was standing in his room, holding the picture of the same girl, and the weight of it all pressed heavily on her chest.
