A Core Ship From The Start
Chapter 2533 - 1695: A Tangled Mess (Let’s Play Musou for Now)
In response to such an unusual situation, Banai and Chitanda felt a mix of excitement and fear. However, having Duanmu Huai by their side reassured them quite a bit. Duanmu Huai also told them that the current situation was still unclear, so all they could do was wait and see before deciding what to do next.
After a short while, footsteps were heard, followed by the door opening. The three of them then saw a balding doctor, who exuded a sense of reassurance, enter the room wearing a white coat. The nurse from before followed beside him. The man appeared to be in his fifties, with a big belly and an appearance suggesting a life of affluence and ease, and his smile was very kind.
"Welcome, ladies. I’m Director Yamamoto."
Director Yamamoto quickly introduced himself to the three of them.
"I’ve heard from the nurse about your reasons for coming. You have doubts about the treatments here, correct?"
"Yes, yes..."
Chitanda quickly responded. Duanmu Huai had already told Chitanda that she should be the "big sister," so when the person in charge arrived, Chitanda would be the one to communicate with him. The reason was simple: since their identities were the daughters of good families, their behavior and speech had to match this setting.
Compared to Duanmu Huai and Banai, Chitanda, who was originally from a prestigious family, was obviously more suited to this role.
"But it’s very remote here, how did you come here? Let me call your parents and have them take you back."
"No, that’s not necessary."
Chitanda hurriedly waved her hand.
"Please don’t worry about us. We’ve already arranged with the driver; after dropping off our father at the company, he will come to take us home. Please don’t tell our parents since they think we’re currently at a tutoring class..."
"Ah, I see." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Hearing Chitanda’s response, Director Yamamoto nodded with a smile.
"Alright, I understand. Since you have such intentions, I won’t oppose it... Very well, please follow me, and I’ll personally take you to visit the other patients."
After this, the three followed Director Yamamoto out of the reception room, walked through the western corridor and arrived at a heavy, locked door.
Standing there was a burly, silent man dressed in hospital orderly attire. The director nodded to the man, who then turned and opened the door with a key, and everyone entered.
Inside, it looked like a recreational room with tables and chairs. Some people in patient gowns were either sitting reading books or playing games with the care of an orderly. The director guided them on a tour while explaining.
"The treatment of mental illnesses does differ from other diseases, but we’re constantly seeking solutions to heal the psychological scars of patients. However, mental disorders are extremely complex. Some people appear quite normal, and you might think they’re just like you and me during a conversation, yet they can’t comprehend their existence. It’s a sad reality."
Chitanda and Banai followed behind the director, curiously looking around, while Duanmu Huai glanced at them and asked in a low voice.
"Excuse me, doctor, do they also need to take medication?"
"Of course, little sister."
In response to Duanmu Huai’s inquiry, the director chuckled.
"Often, mental patients can’t control themselves, so we give them medication to calm them down and reduce agitation and anger. Only then can we slowly heal the scars within their hearts. Of course, we’re not in favor of using harsh methods for mental treatment; as you can see, we employ very gentle approaches here."
As Director Yamamoto said, most patients seemed quite happy, either gathered to play cards or playing games under the care of the orderly, some reading books or just dazing off.
But as they reached the end of the lounge, suddenly, a hand shot out from the side and grabbed Chitanda’s wrist, startling her. She turned to see a woman in a wheelchair staring intently at her, tightly gripping her hand.
"Please, help me get out, call the police! My name is Misaki Sanxia! I’m not crazy! I’m a sane person! I’m being kept here against my will!"
"Huh? Huh??"
Confronted with the woman’s words, Chitanda was at a loss for how to respond. Just then, Director Yamamoto approached, grabbed the woman’s wrist, and looked toward the nurse beside him.
"It’s time for her injection."
"No, I don’t want it! I don’t want an injection!"
Hearing Director Yamamoto’s words, the woman backed away in even greater terror.
"I’m not crazy! I’m a normal person! I don’t want to stay here! Let me out! I want to go home!"
After saying this, the woman turned and ran, knocking over another patient in her way, which plunged the surroundings into chaos.
"I’m sorry, I need to address the situation here."
Director Yamamoto apologized to Chitanda and the others before hurrying with the other nurses to catch the woman who was running wild.
Witnessing this scene, Chitanda and Banai didn’t know how to react. Only Duanmu Huai looked bored, glancing around.
