Kelsey felt his steps falter, beads of sweat instantly covering his face.

’How did he get here? No... how did he even know we were here?’

He had made sure they were far enough away to avoid being seen or caught up in the destruction caused by the Tochiux.

Even from this distance, they had to use a pair of binoculars to see how the fight turned out.

They had no idea how advanced the technology behind the X Glasses was, but that didn’t matter.

Nicholas casually removed the X glasses revealing his deep blue eyes.

Seeing how young Nicholas looked, Kelsey quickly regained some confidence.

’Why should I be scared of him, he has no proof whatsoever, he wouldn’t dare touch me. Just because he got famous in a few days, who does he even think he is?’ His cold arrogant voice cutting through the air.

"Please excuse us, we have important matters to attend to"

Nicholas didn’t move an inch from his spot as he looked the two men dead in the eye, "Having to deal with people like you is what makes my work fun"

The air twisted violently and space warped around Nicholas’s hand.

Before he could even blink, Kelsey saw both of his severed hands twitching on the ground.

"Ahhhh! Ahhhh!" The scream tore out from his core, echoing through the air.

Blood poured across the rooftop.

Kelsey collapsed onto his knees.

His mind couldn’t process what had happened.

One second his hands had been attached.

The next, they were gone.

His colleague quickly took a step away from him, looking at Nicholas, fear filling his eyes, "W-what are you doing! You’re using your powers against a civilian! Have you gone mad?"

Nicholas glanced at the man with a smile, "Quite frankly, sir, I’m mad. I’m mad at him because he made me ask a third time" Nicholas said, his tone dropping by an octave.

He slowly walked to the stairs, and the tall man retreated, eyes shaking with fear, "You’ll be on the news! This will be reported! You’ll spend your life behind bars!"

Kelsey couldn’t move as he rolled on the ground, staring at his two severed hands.

"Is that a threat?" Nicholas asked, raising a brow, "Since when do dead people have the right to threaten others?" He reached the end of the stairs now standing directly in front of the two men.

His blue eyes shining with a dark evil glint, the tall man could’ve sworn that he saw the thrill hidden beneath those eyes.

"You can’t do this! This isn’t what a hero does!"

The tall man moved farther and farther away from Nicholas until he reached the edge of the skyscraper, his eyes darting between the devil in front of him and the abyss behind him.

Nicholas didn’t reply as he stared down at Kelsey who had already screamed out his lungs, his eyes filled with tears from the pain of his severed arms, mucus running from his nose.

"Night Ninja, Rope girl. Two heroes who are under the Raystar association. The Tochiux, an impure beast that had been contained, yet again by the Raystar association. All of them appearing immediately after I declined your offer to join the association." Nicholas said as he looked at the two men.

"You may be right, I’m not a hero, but a hero is meant to deal with criminals and right now, you both happen to fit into that category right now" Nicholas said, his sharp gaze cutting towards the tall man who gulped nervously.

But he couldn’t give up, "The Tochiux escaped the facility! You’re saying nonsense, you have no proof!"

Nicholas let out a short cold chuckle, "I’m surprised you still feel that this is a negotiation for the truth. If you want proof, well I’ll give it to you."

The tall man swallowed hard, looking at Nicholas wondering what he’d do, but the next second he noticed Nicholas next to him, before he could react.

Nicholas reappeared beside him and pushed him over the edge of the skyscraper.

"Wha—hhaa?!!"

The man’s scream tore through the air as he fell off the 150 meter tall building, the wind whipping past his face.

His eyes wide with disbelief that Nicholas had thrown him off the building, with fear as the ground inched closer with every second.

Just as he was about to slam face first into the ground, he tightened his eyes in fear, but he suddenly felt the gushing wind go quiet and a strong grip on the cuff of his shirt as he opened his eyes he met a pair of cold blue eyes staring into him.

"Now was Raystar behind this?" Nicholas asked with a cold voice.

"Yes! Yes! We were" the words slipped from the man’s mouth out of instinct that near-death experience left his heart pounding in his chest.

He didn’t even need Nicholas to tell him, he could tell from those chilling eyes that if he didn’t give the answer he would probably die.

Nicholas tossed him to the ground like a ragdoll.

"I’ll give you five hours to report yourselves to the association. If within five hours I don’t see this on the headlines. I’ll be back for the two of you and not even your best hero will protect you from me. And not a word of what happened here leaves your mouths." Nicholas said as he turned his back on the two as he walked towards the roof door.

Right before he walked past he stopped throwing a sharp glare at Kelsey whose body had already gone cold from the loss of blood and had already fainted, "Get him to the hospital, he has a few minutes, left and one more thing, If I find even a single strand of that little girl’s hair out of place, the two of you will answer for it." Nicholas paused for a moment, "So from today, you’ll be her personal guard. Am I understood?"

The tall man nodded frantically.

Nicholas casually walked out, sliding his hands into his pocket, his coat fluttering behind him.

The newly appointed bodyguard stared at Nicholas’s retreating figure, his eyes still trembling with fear.

’What did I get myself into?’
