A Hitman's Guide To Becoming A Hero
Chapter 83: Vixen’s Resolve
The Raystar Headquarters turned upside down the moment a man clad in a black coat stepped into the building, a pair of dark glasses covering his eyes.
"Hey! This area isn’t for civilians! Go back!" the security guard yelled, but the man walked forward without a care.
"I’m warning you now! Don’t force me or I’ll shoot!" The man said as he pointed his gun at the figure.
His colleague quickly turned to see who he was aiming at.
" Wait... isn’t that Phantom?" The man muttered, but before he could tell what was going on, "Ahhh!" The man who held the gun watched as the gun slipped from his hand, his fingers falling off with it.
The one who recognised who Phantom was turned in terror to his colleague, "Shit! What’s wrong with you!" He roared turning back to look at Phantom but he had disappeared.
He was no longer in front of them.
All the hairs in his body stood as he turned his back, he only caught a glimpse of the figure behind him before the heavy hit got the back of his head. His vision darkened and the two men fell in an instant.
"Who the hell are you?!" Another guard yelled as he saw Nicholas standing in front of the two fallen guards.
Seeing his fallen comrades, he didn’t hesitate and immediately pulled the trigger. The muzzle of the gun lit up in flashes as a barrage of bullets erupted from the barrel.
But the man who was shooting was looked around in confusion. He couldn’t find his target in front of him anymore.
"Huh?" He paused for a second, and the next his vision darkened as he felt a heavy hit to his head.
Nicholas continued in the same fashion, in less than ten minutes of his unannounced arrival, several guards littered the floor of the Raystar Headquarters.
He didn’t kill anyone, but a few fingers were lost. A small price to pay for being left alive.
In the Hitman world, raising a gun already meant you were prepared to die, here though, Nicholas felt the need to be a bit more merciful.
His progress continued quickly and soon he encountered the first hero, who stood in front of the elevator, staring him dead in the eye like he was looking at a disappointment.
"What’s wrong with you Phantom! Have you gone mad! Stop your charge now, or I’ll have to act" the hero said with a stern voice.
Nicholas didn’t even act as though he’d heard the hero’s voice. He didn’t have time to match morals with anyone.
Every second spent talking was another second Katie remained in someone else’s hands and just the thought made his skin crawl.
Nicholas continued his charge and seeing that he had no intention of stopping or even listening to him the hero lowered his visor.
Blazing hot lasers shot out like cannon blasters, the air sizzling away as it reached straight for Nicholas.
The space in front of Nicholas warped and at the same time, the space behind the hero rippled.
The blazing-hot lasers shot forward and disappeared into thin air before reaching Nicholas and the hero screamed in agony as he felt the heat of his own lasers on his back, sending him to his knees.
As he raised his head up to look at Nicholas, the first thing that met his vision was the sole of Nicholas’s black boot.
"You need to sleep"
It slammed straight into his face, the sheer force making his neck crack and his vision faded.
Nicholas kicked the slumped figure off to the side and tapped on the elevator button going to the top floor.
Ding!
The elevator door chimed and opened. Following it, the muzzles of several guns lit up in a storm of bullets.
In a single second the entire elevator was riddled with holes.
The hall slowly went quiet as the last rounds of the bullets went off and the guards took a deep breath.
"That took a while... wait where is he?" The guard asked staring into the empty elevator riddled with holes.
"I’m here"
A cold voice rang out behind him like a whisper from the devil, his neck went stiff and before he could react a slam went straight for the back of his head.
His eyes went white as he fell to the ground.
The others turned to Nicholas, but as they did, they noticed blood spraying from their severed hands.
The hall turned into a cacophony of torturous screams as the men wailed watching their arms turn white from the loss of blood.
"Impressive, but this is not idle for a hero! Enough of this nonsense Phantom" A voice rang from behind him and before he could turn he felt an elastic arms wrap around him, tying him on the spot.
Nicholas looked down at the hands coldly and then started trying to get out of the hands.
Elasto smiled, "It’s useless, you might be strong but no one has been able to break out of my elastic —" his words caught in his mouth as he felt an immeasurable amount of pain.
His hands were slowly being stretched, muscles being ripped and his flexible hands being pushed past their limits.
"Ahhhh!" The hero screamed out his lungs, quickly trying to pull back his hands.
He felt a strong grip on his hands before they could roll back to him. With a powerful tug, Nicholas drove him off his feet and slammed him straight into the wall, making it shudder.
Celine who had been standing in the corner finally saw the opportunity she was looking for, ’All I need is to touch him and when I do, I’ll induce my sleep paralysis into him’ She thought her eyes glinting as she shot forward.
She was only inches away from touching Nicholas but the first thing she saw was the dark visor of the X-glasses staring her dead in the eye, she felt a pain tear through her body as Nicholas drove a knee into her gut and then gave her a ruthless slap that sent her flying to the other part of the room.
No one in the room stood a chance and they’d all fallen in an instant.
But just as Nicholas was about to turn he heard a familiar voice.
"Can’t believe I used to admire you."
The smoothness of her voice and the confidence that came with it.
It was unmistakable.
And just as he expected, when he turned around he met Vixen’s sharp green gaze behind her half-mask.
" .... Sadly, this is where your madness ends." she said with a stern voice.
