Chapter 386: His Reaction

When I went up to the next floor and searched for the exit to it, I found Eric slowly flying in a direction.

He stopped when my senses washed over him. I think he tensed up also.

When I teleported in front of him, he reeled back slightly also, which was confusing. Why was he scared of me?

Then it hit me, I’m so powerful now that he probably doesn’t recognise me. And even if I look the same, I might not be the same. Hell, I could just be someone who looks like me to him.

"Hi." I didn’t exactly know what else to say to him to be honest. I could explain everything that’s happened, but I didn’t exactly feel like doing that immediately as he might not believe me.

"Hey..." He responded cautiously. "You’re... Not possessed or something, right?"

"No, I just... Got more powerful. Unbelievably so." I said in a calm manner, trying to make my voice as light and unthreatening as possible.

He looked me up and down for a second before he sceptically asked, "How?"

I took a deep breath and exhaled, "It’s a-a bit of a long story, but to keep it short, I unlocked a new bloodline and massacred over a hundred giant behemoth monsters and devoured them all, gaining immense power in the process."

The moment my explanation started, I spewed it out as fast as possible to not drag it out or accidentally stammer over myself.

As for Eric’s reaction, he just looked at me with is eyes squinted and a look of incredulity as if to say, ’I don’t believe you.’ Which is fair.

Then he just outright said it, "I don’t believe you. Give me one reason why I should believe you are who you say you are?"

I opened my mouth and faltered. I didn’t exactly have anything to prove I was who I was. No wait, I do!

"These!" I presented my left hand to him, showing him the rings on my fingers. "If I was dead, I wouldn’t have these and my father would’ve gone on a rampage in revenge!"

Eric stared at the rings for a moment and sighed, seemingly relaxing a little, though I could tell that he was still quite tense.

"Well, why don’t you tell me all about it while I take you out of here. I’m honestly a little sick of this place." He said with a sigh as he gestured for me to follow him.

I echoed his sentiment, "Yeah, I’m sick of this place too." And followed him out of here, explaining what happened in the process.

I was kind of expecting him to make a big fuss about the Bloodline I got, but no, he just sighed as gestured for me to continue on.

Which I did, going on to tell him about what I did after I left the underground chamber and where exactly all my newfound power came from all the way up to Lucifer essentially banishing me.

"That is... Wild. Also, I did not know that Lucifer, the Emperor of Hell, was a moron." That last statement stunned me.

"Why do you call him a moron? I mean, I don’t exactly like the guy right now, but why are you insulting him? You know that he basically owns all of this and is probably watching me to make sure I leave right? If he heard you, he’ll probably send his forces after you." I warned in a panicked tone.

I may not have much of a connection to Eric compared to my friends, but he’s still someone I consider important to me, and although he can likely hold his own, I don’t want to lose him because he offended my uncle.

"Well, why did he send you away and not just force you to remain exactly where you where or something? I mean he didn’t have to make you leave, with his authority, he could’ve just made you stay put." He clarified as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

...

’FUCKING LUCIFER!!!’

"SEE!!! I FUCKING TOLD YOU, YOU RETARD! I CANNOT BELIEVE I HAVE TO FUCKING LISTEN TO YOU SOMETIMES!"

Asmodeus could be heard shouting at the top of his lungs as he tore into Lucifer verbally, who was currently staring at the crack with a deadpan expression.

Meanwhile Katraa was off to the side, worried for her husband’s wellbeing. She knew he was a demon, but he’s supposed to embody sex and overindulgence and all that. Not this. But she had to agree with him on this one, so she just stayed silent.

I excused myself to Eric for a moment and teleported far away to blow off some steam.

When I was far enough away, I raised both my fists and let out a blood curdling scream of fury and smashed my fists into the ground, creating a devastating explosion that eviscerated anything within the blast zone.

Once I got that out of my system, I took a moment to breath and get myself in order once more and went back to Eric.

He did not seem to be all that shocked as he stared off into the distance and looked at the still ongoing destruction.

"Honestly? Fair."

That was all he had to say about that matter before continuing to lead me out of here. The whole time we had been taking it slowly so that I could explain things, but now that everything had been said, we picked up the pace and were out of the dungeon realm thing in half an hour.

When we entered the real world once more, night had just fallen.

The moment the still hot desert wind hit me I gave out a sigh of relief and contentment. It was nice to be back somewhere familiar.

"Hey, you’ll want to reign your [Aura] in if you want to go back." Eric suddenly warned. He didn’t seem to have let his guard down completely like before we entered the Spatial Realm, but it was better, he wasn’t as wary as when we first met back up.

But his words did confuse me a little. "What do you mean I have to reign in my [Aura]? What’s wrong with it?"

He gave an exhausted sigh, probably because he was so low on Mana from having to teleport both of us so far and in such a short amount of time. And maybe also because of everything to do with me. Which is fair, considering the amount of bullshit I’ve gone through in just the last year alone.

Either way, he elaborated on his word, "I mean that your [Aura] is out of control. You’ve gained such an incredible amount of power that can only be compared to minor deities at this point, but that power is leaking ever so slightly, creating this [Aura] of absolute power that no regular mortal can handle. It’s too overbearing, too domineering that most people would either collapse or start worshipping you. You need to reign it in."

I get it now. Because my power has grown so large, it’s projected outwards like an [Aura] because of how dense it is. But that doesn’t exactly explain how I’m supposed to supress it.

"I don’t know how though. This has never happened to me before." In response to my obliviousness, Eric simply groan as he threw his hands in his face.

"Ughhhhh... Fine, I’ll teach you how to do that. But not today, I’m too tired after everything that’s happened."

With that, he just kind of fell straight down onto the sand and was immediately unconscious and in the realm of dreams.

’Wow, he must REALLY be tired if he can just fall asleep like that.’ I looked up at the moon hanging in the sparkling night sky, pondering what I should do when I get back. ’How long have I even been gone for? What did Serpens say? I was out for a couple of days? God fucking damn it... Why is it that whenever I leave the city, I fucking disappear for multiple days at a time?’

As my mind wondered about aimlessly, trying to make sense of everything and anything, I too got down on the ground and slowly drifted into a deep sleep, because despite me being so energetic after feasting on all those monster corpses, I was tired mentally.

The next morning, Eric taught me how to stop my power from essentially ’leaking out’ as it were, and it took several hours for me to get a grasp on the concept, and then another two hours before I was able to actually do it without concentrating.

But, I was able to do it in the end at least, which is all that matters.

Then, we, or rather I, teleported us back to Krara city. The outskirts anyways as Eric had something to announce to me.

"With everything you’ve gained on this trip, I feel like you no longer need me to teach you [Astromancy], and it is now up to you to figure out how best to use it. With your new Bloodline, you’ve basically been made a natural, so there’s not really a lot I can teach you now. It’s up to your imagination really."

"I... I understand..." I acknowledged rather melancholically. I should’ve expected this. "Thank you anyways for staying with me and caring so much for me, I really appreciate it." I gave a wry smile as I expressed my genuine thanks for all he’s done for me.

He chuckled and brushed it off like it was nothing, "Don’t sweat it kid. Still, this now lets me get back to work. Be seeing you around, I’ll need your help at some point."

"Of course, see you later." I waved him goodbye as he vanished into the folds of space, leaving me to head back to the city myself.
