Abandoned Wife? Her Starlight Shall Blind You!
Chapter 323 - 266: The Emperor Got Kicked
Shen Ruoxi was completely stunned, not expecting the Emperor to be so direct. After a long silence, she couldn’t help but say coldly, "Go ahead and do as you please!"
The Emperor was about to say something else when suddenly he felt his vision go black. With a "thud," he fell straight to the ground without a sound, motionless.
Shen Ruoxi was initially dumbfounded, her heart skipped a beat, and her mind was instantly thrown into chaos: What on earth was going on?
Instinctively, she slowly gripped the sedative at her chest, gently lifted the bed curtain, and kept a close eye on her surroundings, ready to throw the sedative at whoever might approach.
At that moment, a figure lightly jumped down and even gave the Emperor a couple of hard kicks, seemingly still not satisfied.
Shen Ruoxi looked closely, and even though the person had their face covered, she recognized at once that it was her husband, Jun Moling.
"Husband." She called out softly.
Jun Moling heard her calling and quickly stepped forward, responding with, "My wife."
Shen Ruoxi nodded, her expression full of anxiety, "The Emperor has many top palace experts. You’re risking your life with such recklessness! How is the Emperor now?"
Jun Moling lowered his voice and said, "The Emperor dared not be too blatant about meeting with you, so he dismissed his guards. He’s fine, just knocked out by me."
With that, he pulled Shen Ruoxi tightly into his arms.
"Husband, I can’t go home for the time being. The Emperor is using my cousin to threaten me, and besides, there’s the Xu and Shen families. I can’t just leave like this. But you mustn’t hold back; if he’s unwilling to rule properly, then he must be made to wake up." Shen Ruoxi said determinedly.
Jun Moling nodded gravely, "I will make sure he dismisses this absurd idea. If he really wants to change the ruler, then we’ll help him achieve that."
Shen Ruoxi nodded slightly, nuzzled in his embrace for a moment, and then suddenly grabbed his face and quickly pecked his lips.
"Husband, as long as you know what you’re doing. Leave here quickly; if anyone discovers you, the consequences would be unthinkable. Don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine, just go."
Reluctantly, Jun Moling held her head tightly, kissed her affectionately for a while, and then released her with great reluctance, turning to leave. Before he disappeared into the night, he turned back to give the Emperor two more kicks.
Once everyone had left, Shen Ruoxi slowly got up. She couldn’t let the Emperor lie on the floor of her room all night; if someone found out tomorrow, rumors would spread wildly.
She quickly sent a palace maid to quietly bring Xu Ci over.
Xu Ci entered, saw the Emperor lying on the ground, and was immediately shocked, turning pale.
"Did you kill him?" Xu Ci’s voice trembled slightly.
Shen Ruoxi couldn’t help but laugh, "Cousin, what are you thinking? He broke into my room in the middle of the night and wouldn’t stop talking, I couldn’t take it, so I knocked him out. Let’s quietly move him to your bed, don’t let anyone find out."
Shen Ruoxi had to take this upon herself, absolutely not dragging her husband into it.
Xu Ci breathed a sigh of relief, relaxed, and couldn’t help but laugh after thinking about it, "Only you would dare to do this. Guess he’ll be frustrated tomorrow but won’t dare say a word."
"Alright, hurry up and get him to your room." Shen Ruoxi urged with a smile.
Xu Ci nodded. As the daughter of a military general, Xu Ci might not have martial arts skills as high as Shen Ruoxi, but she had some ability.
The two women worked together to move the Emperor to Xu Ci’s bed, and it didn’t take too much effort.
"Cousin, if the Emperor asks tomorrow, just say he came to your room on his own. Don’t say more; he probably won’t press you for details."
Xu Ci nodded and replied, half-jokingly, "He might not want to ask me, but he’s sure to ask you. Better think of a good excuse beforehand. He’s just looking for an excuse to make you beg him, to satisfy his selfish desires."
Shen Ruoxi snorted coldly, "He can dream on!"
Xu Ci chuckled, "Be careful with the baby in your belly, hurry back to sleep!"
Shen Ruoxi nodded and quickly returned to her room.
Watching Shen Ruoxi’s departing figure, Xu Ci turned to look at the Emperor, who was sound asleep, and felt a pang of self-deprecation after a moment.
Every woman hopes her husband will be devoted to her, yet who would have thought his heart was entirely on someone else, even to the point of scheming against her.
He claimed to want to overthrow the Empress, but really, he just didn’t want her to be pregnant. This person was truly terrifying.
Xu Ci sighed softly, climbed into bed, and tried to put aside these troubles, quickly drifting into sleep.
In the morning, the Emperor slowly awoke, feeling sore all over. He suddenly recalled he had been speaking with Shen Ruoxi, then everything went black, and he remembered nothing.
What on earth had happened to him?
"Your Majesty, it’s time for the morning court." Xu Ci, already up, spoke softly and cautiously.
"Why am I here?" The Emperor frowned, full of confusion.
Xu Ci deliberately hesitated for a moment, then showed a faint smile, "Your Majesty, you came to my quarters last night, how could you forget?"
She knew very well that the Emperor hadn’t come to her room last night; he had gone to Shen Ruoxi’s room.
Evidently, he had angered her during their conversation, so she drugged him unconscious, then had someone move him to Consort Xian’s quarters.
But why was his body so sore, as if he had been brutally beaten?
The Emperor thought it over and concluded that Shen Ruoxi must have done it. She must have been enraged by what he said and taught him a lesson.
With this thought, he was strangely comforted, even showing a satisfied smile.
What kind of person was Shen Ruoxi? She couldn’t be bothered to exchange words, let alone blows, with people she considered irrelevant.
What did this signify? It meant she still cared for him.
The Emperor’s peculiar thought process appeared especially bizarre to Xu Ci.
The Emperor first looked puzzled, then inexplicably satisfied, a foolish and infatuated grin on his face, his thoughts unclear.
Xu Ci felt a wave of bitterness in her heart. She knew the Emperor only showed such expressions when thinking of her cousin Shen Ruoxi.
Though she felt hurt, she dared not show it, only softly reminded again, "Your Majesty, it’s time for the morning court."
The Emperor finally came to his senses, enduring the soreness, letting Xu Ci help him up.
After dressing and freshening up, the Emperor’s body still ached with no relief.
Privately he thought, "That little ungrateful wretch, I like her so, yet she treated me so harshly. If it were anyone else, I’d have them executed publicly. But for her, it’s just a beating."
However, he then reconsidered; this beating couldn’t be taken for nothing, he resolved to get something back from her.
