Abyss Summoner
Chapter 437 - 425: Everything Will Get Better
The night breeze blowing in felt as if it carried the moisture of water; ahead, the sound of river flow could be heard. After passing through a sparse forest, everything appeared before the eyes of this group of exhausted survivors. Tall buildings stood before them, not the constructions from before the apocalypse, but rather structures of a never-before-seen architectural style.
Rugged, primitive, yet exuding an indescribable solidity and sturdiness.
To enhance seismic defense, the goblins and natives under Chen Feng’s command, after about two months of research, designed a brand-new type of house.
The design featured some curves; from the outside, it lacked the conventional rectangular shape of human buildings, instead presenting a more rounded appearance.
These houses were three stories tall, yet their seismic resistance had more than doubled. Thus, these buildings were widely implemented, and as for the reconstruction of T City, without a doubt, these houses replaced the previously improvised structures and became the mainstream architecture of the city.
Surrounded by lit torches, it was unclear how many people were present. Amidst the dim light, the survivors could vaguely see some people holding guns aimed at them, with fierce expressions as if treating them as enemies.
Cautious.
Chen Feng’s will influenced those around him.
Within the scope of Order’s rule, the cost of slacking off was severe. Chen Feng required that no matter what task was at hand, it had to be approached with complete caution.
Though cumbersome, most people had become accustomed to this work attitude.
"Silence."
A gentle female voice arose, drifting into others’ ears like a breeze of spring.
Then, everyone became silent.
They themselves didn’t know why. Having just gone through a brutal slaughter and escape, and with panic still looming over their hearts, upon hearing the soft female voice, they involuntarily quieted down, their spirits seemingly soothed by some power.
Wei Xun raised his head to look ahead.
He saw a young girl with wings fluttering, the aura surrounding her brought him a sense of ease—a kind of indescribable power.
She was the spiritual embodiment of an adult within Order.
Wei Xun walked to the front of her, this fearless man now slightly bowing his back, respectfully addressing the woman before him: "Priestess!"
The young girl nodded with a smile.
Li Siyu, following Chen Feng’s orders, had come to this newly occupied city.
The surrounding warriors, seeing the girl, also lowered their heads in respect. They were Chen Feng’s loyal believers, and when facing the Priestess, this respect was more towards Chen Feng than to Li Siyu herself.
"Let the women and children disembark first."
Li Siyu glanced at the crowd before her and slowly instructed: "The men stay where they are to prepare, there is enough food by the shore. Distribute it among everyone."
"There are enough rooms in the camp."
"Begin arranging accommodations now, have everyone fill out forms according to family size."
The gentle voice seemed to carry a magical power.
The crowd in front unexpectedly followed her orders, and then the women and children were taken to the shore one by one. After the devastation of the apocalypse, the elderly and children comprised a very small proportion. Like those before her, among the thousands of survivors from Gutang Port, the elderly and children accounted for only one-fifth or even less.
"Tell the newly recruited warriors not to harass these women and children."
Li Siyu turned to Wei Xun beside her, speaking gravely: "You should know that the Master detests those who don’t follow rules. These recruits are newly enlisted and may not yet be fully aware of the Master’s methods."
Wei Xun nodded, his expression becoming increasingly grim: "Rest assured, Priestess!"
"The rules of Order cannot be broken by anyone, should unrest occur, I will break the offender’s spine and hang it from the city walls, so everyone will understand the cost of defying rules!"
Harsh governing methods.
Chen Feng’s rule over this land was maintained through slaughter and Order. Anyone with a working brain understood the consequences of defying Chen Feng’s orders.
Piping hot food was distributed, some were prepared in advance, while others were insect meat and potatoes.
With the cultivation of mutated food, Order had left behind the initial situation of food shortage. Although the taste of mutated potatoes was somewhat lacking, compared to starving to death, the feeling of having a full belly was more than enough.
These people were from Gutang Port, having survived amidst opposing forces’ open and clandestine struggles and lived days on edge under the threat of the White Dragon. At this time, entering a brand-new environment, some people’s gaze still flickered with doubt. However, seeing the food, much of this doubt dissipated.
Food is the basic necessity of people.
They were merely ordinary people living at the bottom rung of society. Compared to ambitious professionals, their thoughts were simple: to eat their fill.
Meat!
It was indeed meat!
As those from the lowest rung of the post-apocalyptic world, most hadn’t seen meat for a long time, which is the lament of their ordinary status.
At this moment, no one concerned themselves with manners, as they lifted the meat before them and swallowed it down.
Everywhere was the sound of voracious eating.
Clearly, in such times, hunger and panic should incite some chaos, but for some reason, whenever Li Siyu appeared before them, everyone’s hearts were inexplicably calmed.
The power of Light.
The power of Sanctity.
As Li Siyu spoke, she used some Light Energy, trying to soothe these people’s agitated souls. Ironic as it was, a lady with the power of light ending up as a priestess under the service of a Great Demon.
She did not forget her duty.
All Li Siyu did was for the Master to gain more believers.
A stable environment, delicious food, and though the attitude was indifferent, the warriors were far from humiliating normal people. These stark contrasts with Gutang Port reassured the newcomers.
The fear on their faces slowly faded, replaced by a sense of exploration and curiosity.
Order reconstruction.
The islands, Gutang Port, T City, compared to the inland developments of Jingkai and Qiaodong, these newly reclaimed areas were still very unfamiliar with the concept of Order.
But Chen Feng was not in a hurry.
The pursuit of a better life may be an innate human instinct.
Here lies Order.
Effort and reward are proportional.
As long as one puts in effort, life is bound to become countless times better than before.
Women will not become commodities, children will not be offered to the White Dragon, and the elderly will not be abandoned.
Everything will get better.
These people will one day understand what "Order" truly means...
