Chapter 352 - 351: A Rook

The day seemed to pass quite quickly for Calus. Even the hunting of fighter beasts was out of his mind.

It seemed he was back to being as clueless as he had been in his last life.

He thought that with his rebirth he would be far ahead, but it seemed this organization knew about his rebirth.

Is that why they killed him?

Do they have other plans?

Why is he called a chosen one?

Calus didn't know the answers to any of these questions. He simply moved along with everything, but his mind wandered endlessly.

Alas, Calus walked to the back of the school.

A quiet, mysterious place was revealed to him.

Calus looked on in shock as he raised his eyes and saw a stream flowing through an open grass field.

A gentle water fall and a lake filled with mana stones.

It created such a beautiful scenery that Calus felt frozen as all his thoughts faded away.

A sigh escaped him as he looked around.

It was quiet, with only a few sounds of beasts here and there.

"I wish my life was this peaceful…" Calus said as he walked toward the lake.

Bending his knee, Calus looked at his reflection on the calm lake surface.

"Am I still Calus?" he asked no one in particular as he sighed.

Suddenly

Sharrrrr

The lake ripped apart as a dark object hit his head, and Calus fell onto his back.

Intense pain shot through his brain as he groaned.

"Ouch… who did that?" Calus rubbed his small nose as he asked, but his expression froze when he saw a terrifying feminine figure. His breath hitched, his heartbeat quickened, and his eyes widened.

She was beautiful. The sun and the moon could not compare to the beauty before him. But what truly took his breath away wasn't just that but...

She was naked.

The mature feminine body almost caused Calus to have a nosebleed.

"Ah… y-you…" Calus pointed at her in shock.

The beauty looked back at him, seemingly unfazed that he had seen her naked.

"You are a kid. Why should I be worried?" she asked, furrowing her brows.

Calus' body trembled.

"N-no, even so… this is unacceptable," Calus argued, his face burning with embarrassment. Calculating his age, shouldn't he be over a hundred years old if his past life was included?

"Then why are you still staring?" the beauty asked.

Calus' throat seemed stuck as he couldn't say anything.

He hurriedly looked away.

"That's… because… that's because…" Calus struggled to speak. His back was facing her now as he stood up to run.

"That's because?" a drawn-out lazy voice echoed.

Calus froze.

In front of him, a beautiful face was inches from his own, her big eyes blinking with curiosity.

It was as if she was pushing him to give her a reason.

Calus didn't know what to say. He was completely shocked, and worse still, his mind started racing as memories

from her rising from the lake appeared.

Wait. He was already a one-star Gold Realm fighter.

How could she even hurt him?

"Are… are you an instructor? If so, I'm sorry," Calus hurriedly bowed.

After all, only instructors were in the Gold Realm, and they were not weak.

Hearing this, a smile blossomed on her face. Calus gulped nervously. He felt his breath being taken away.

How could someone be so beautiful?

"Silly kid, I'm not an instructor. In fact, I came here in secret, so don't tell anyone. Call me Mabi. You keep my secret, and I'll keep yours," she said as she rubbed Calus' head.

She stood up, now clothed. It seemed at some point she had already put on clothes.

Watching her disappearing figure shook Calus.

That name… "Mabi"…

Memories surfaced.

She was a terrifying being.

In his last life, Calus had merely been a Diamond fighter, but Mabi was a terrifying half-step God-level being. She had been just a bit away from reaching the God Realm.

The amount of power she demonstrated had shocked even God Realm experts.

Yet he met her now.

Host: Mabi

Rank: Platinum, Nine-Star

Calus almost choked.

She was already at the peak of the Platinum Realm this early?

No wonder she was that strong in the future.

But then a question arose.

How was he able to meet her? Was this also part of the organization's plan?

No… no.

Mabi was against them. Everyone was against them.

Calus sighed.

That night, he climbed onto his bed.

Silence filled the room as moonlight entered through the window.

"I'm not strong enough. If I were, I could control my fate," Calus said, clenching his fist. But soon, he trembled.

"But even someone as strong as Mabi lost her life in the end…" Calus muttered in shock.

"Wait, no. I just have to grow stronger than even Mabi," Calus thought as his gaze sharpened.

Yes. Even if someone as strong as Mabi couldn't change her fate, that didn't apply to him.

He would change his fate.

He would be stronger than her, especially with this system.

Looking at the constant notifications and the faint feeling of power swirling inside him, Calus smiled in anticipation of his future.

His rebirth came with a system.

With this, he could make a name for himself.

With this, he could break his fate.

With this, he could save his friends and family.

And with this, he could finally defeat that organization.

They might be able to make Lisa the twin sister of Fre.

But he would still kill her with his own hands before she could harm him.

Silence filled the space as Trul looked at the piece he placed on the board.

Across from him, the Leader of Dreadborne watched calmly, his hands pausing as he spoke.

"A rook," he muttered as his eyes swept across the board.

"Isn't it too early?" the Leader of the Dreadborne organization asked as he looked at Trul.

Feeling that gaze rest on him made Trul uncomfortable.

He felt as if he were sitting on needles. He didn't dare look at the Leader. Even though there was no visible aura, he couldn't overcome the massive difference in life level between them.

"But it's good enough," the Leader said as he picked up a piece.

Pahhhh

The board trembled as Trul's eyes widened.

"Y-you moved…?"
