Abyssal Sovereign: The Demon's Dominion
Chapter 373 - 372: Betrayal from a brother
Pah, pah, pah…
A series of footsteps rang out as Fre and the occultic members looked up.
The air seemed heavy with tension, but a smile bloomed across Fre's face.
"The star of the show is here," Fre said, opening his arms and laughing.
Thud…
The knife fell to the ground as Fre's gaze met Calus' bloodshot eyes. He could sense the anger, but more than that, he could feel the terrifying King-level aura radiating from him.
The other cult members, mere mortals, had no chance. Blood gushed from their seven orifices as they fell instantly, their screams cut short.
Thud… thud… thud…
One by one, their bodies hit the ground. Calus looked at Fre with a mixture of disappointment and fury.
"These were kids… how could you?" Calus asked, his body trembling.
"Erm… well, the organization gave me a task. I had to fulfill it, right? And… I was mentally controlling the humans you killed," Fre said, pausing as an expression of shock crossed his face. His head slowly turned to the side.
"You have the blood of the innocent on your hands. Are you any worse than me now?" Fre's smile widened as he asked.
"Cut the bullshit… you really went too far. What changed you over these years? I don't remember you being like this. And the organization, do you even know what they're capable of? What they've done?" Calus shouted, rage and disbelief pouring out.
Fre nodded calmly.
"Let's take it one by one," he said, his voice even.
"You asked what changed me over the years? Oh… let's start by saying…"
"My very best friend killed my sister… right in front of me. My best friend, the one I treated like a brother."
"Do you know how much it hurts," Fre's voice rose slightly, tinged with sorrow, "to see the so-called brother you shared a room with murder your sister in the very same room, then deny it, showing no remorse?"
"You ask what changed me, as if I should have believed you in that room, waking up to see your hand on the knife stabbing her chest, and trust that you didn't do it?"
"Or… did Lisa kill herself?" Fre shouted now, eyes misty, emotions spilling out.
"Or maybe I was wrong… should I have just stood there, hugged you like a brother, and pretended nothing happened? Believed everything was fine, and our lives just went on as if nothing happened?"
"No, I—" Calus was at a loss for words. Even his anger had subsided as he struggled to speak.
From behind a rock, Mabi heard everything. Her legs froze. She couldn't move.
Hearing it from Calus' perspective was intense, but hearing it from Fre… while Calus struggled to explain… was unbearable.
"It was the organization… the same one you joined… they… they—" Calus started, eyes locking with Fre's. But he couldn't continue. His eyes widened.
He wanted to tell everything, to speak of the past, to explain what had happened but the words refused to come. No matter how hard he tried, the sentences dissolved in his mouth.
The more he struggled, the more a terrifying presence descended upon him. His back went cold. A suffocating, decayed energy wrapped around his neck as he felt the aura of death around him
but Calus didn't care.
He wanted to speak. He tried harder. Nothing happened.
"That's right…" Fre muttered, disappointed. The light in his eyes dimmed. Over the years, even though he hated Calus to his core, he had wanted to hear the truth or at least the lie calus will tell . And now… he was deeply disappointed. How could Calus, who had murdered his sister now be unable to speak?
Calus felt his mind unravel.
"No… no…"
He couldn't breathe. It felt as if he were being dragged into mud. His head felt heavy, his thoughts collapsing as he desperately tried to speak.
"Why… why… please… let me tell you…"
"Fre, no! I didn't mean to… Lisa lied! She… she lied! That witch… the organization planted her beside you to mess with me…"
Fre… please… I want to tell you about the past, about how cruelly they murdered you and me… but why can't I?
Why can't I… fucking… do it?
Tears streamed down Calus' face as he screamed:
"WHY! FRE, I'M SORRY!"
"SORRY I COULDN'T PROTECT YOU! SORRY LISA DIED!" 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
"SORRY FOR EVERYTHING! I WILL TAKE MY LIFE NOW IF I HAVE TO , I JUST WANT YOU TO FORGIVE ME!"
"I WANT TO EXPLAIN… BUT I CAN'T… THE ORGANIZATION… THEY'VE DONE SOMETHING!"
Calus wept as his voice echoed through the air. Darkness gathered above. The surroundings became choked with tension and suffocating pressure.
"Right… the organization…"
"They have told me… everything. And I don't regret it, Calus…"
"Everything about you… has been told to me…"
"I hate you. I despise you. I wish you the worst possible punishment. I want you to suffer mentally, physically, psychologically… in every possible way."
"There isn't a day that goes by that I don't wish to peel your skin off…"
Fre spoke with pure hatred, grinding his teeth, but Calus felt hollow. His eyes dimmed, only disbelief remaining.
Wait… Fre knew. He knew about the sacrifices, the deaths… all because Lisa died. Lisa, who was his lover in the last life, now his sister.
All because of her, he overlooked the atrocities the organization committed and joined them.
"Yes… you wretched fellow. Now you're stunned. Now you're shocked."
""The organization showed me the truth about your past life, you were a demon. A demon who killed not only my sister… but killed me too. You killed everyone."
"The organization stood against you… yet you erased them all."..., fre thought
"I didn't do this to argue with you, but I wanted to ask you something else…"
"That night, when I left with Lisa… why didn't you follow me? Why didn't you chase after me?"
"I stopped in an alley not far away. Yet when you walked out… Calus, you never looked back. You never looked for me. Just how horrible were you?" Fre asked.
Calus seemed to snap back to reality.
"So you're telling me you knew about what the organization did, yet you still dared to join them?"
"Fre!"
Calus shouted in anger, but his words fell on deaf ears.
"Calus, I will destroy everything. I will kill many people… and I will kill you too," Fre said coldly.
Bang!
Crack!
A loud sonic boom echoed as bones shattered.
Calus' fist slammed into Fre's jaw, instantly breaking his chin.
Boom!
Fre crashed into several already-damaged buildings, completely destroying them as his body tore through the structures.
Calus continued forward, unable to accept it.
Had Fre really changed that much?
Even after knowing everything, he still chose to side with the organization.
Did he make a mistake?
His own brother had turned against him…
Had he judged Fre wrongly?
In their past life… was all that friendship fake?
Or had he simply never truly known who Fre really was?
All these thoughts churned inside his mind as his killing intent spread outward exploding to the sky.
