Abyssal Sovereign: The Demon's Dominion
Chapter 464 - 463: First World
Second Abyss...
A two-and-a-half-meter-tall figure could be seen at the very edge of an elevated plain. His tail swayed left and right as he looked down at the chaos unfolding below.
This was the standard everyday event in the Abyss. It had been a few days since the clash between angels and demons. For Nuk, it was a reminder of how crucial power was in this world.
Of course, Nuk was not falling behind. But even after killing a few high-level Rank 0 demons, he was still not close to a breakthrough.
Knowing this, Nuk understood he could not stay much longer in the Abyss. He had to venture out...but it had already been five days, and he had not even caught a glimpse of a portal.
At this point, Nuk was getting frustrated. This was far from normal. Or maybe it was normal, and he was just unlucky.
Regardless, instead of stubbornly staying in place, he decided to explore more regions in hopes of finding a portal.
With that thought, he leaped from the plain and fell quickly.
Landing with a small crater beneath his feet, Nuk stood up and walked forward, heading in a random direction.
As Nuk began his journey, the weak demons that noticed him scattered, some with wary eyes and heavy hearts as they abandoned their prey.
Of course, Nuk did not care. He still killed weak or severely injured demons along the way.
To him, even a mosquito’s leg was still meat.
---
Just when Nuk thought the day would yield nothing, he felt space a few kilometers ahead tremble slightly.
He was not the only one. Every demon around him momentarily paused their battle to the death as they all turned toward the same direction.
Crack...
A loud sound, like glass breaking, echoed as space shattered, followed by a low hum.
They felt their heads ring repeatedly as space tore open and darkness swallowed the surrounding area.
A strong pulling force appeared as their bodies were involuntarily dragged toward the portal.
Demons growled as they grabbed onto anything they could to avoid being pulled in.
They could feel a constantly rotating force that was disintegrating anything sucked into the spatial rift. Thankfully, they did not have to hold on for long before the space stabilized and a huge portal fully formed.
Immediately, the suction force disappeared. Nuk and the other demons breathed a sigh of relief.
Looking at his claws deeply embedded in the ground, Nuk shook his head.
That was dangerous. If he had been sucked in, he would have died—and that went for all the other demons as well.
It seemed these randomly appearing portals in the Abyss carried their own dangers.
Standing up, Nuk looked at the newly formed portal more clearly.
Its height had reached almost one hundred meters, while its width was at least five hundred meters. One striking feature was the deep red hue swirling around it. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
This was a red portal, meaning it led to a world currently undergoing a large-scale war involving the demon army.
A smile formed on Nuk’s face.
This was good. Very good.
This was exactly what he was looking for.
All he needed to do now was enter and join this highly anticipated battle.
Then Nuk moved, closing the few kilometer-long distance in a few strides as other demons rushed in as well.
A faint but strong scent belonging to powerful souls spread through the area, tempting low-level demons to flock toward it repeatedly.
Soon, hundreds of demons entered the portal continuously, and Nuk mixed in among them.
The instant he stepped in, his vision blurred as he was transported elsewhere.
A large circular platform could be seen, and Nuk found himself among thousands of demons.
"High-level demons to this side," a voice filled with power called out.
Nuk felt his body shift as he was guided toward a designated area.
They were in what he could describe as a massive mining region, but it was burning, filled with erupting magma flowing down from a volcano and spreading across the land.
A giant structure stood a few meters away, with demons moving in and out, carrying materials to expand it.
Long whips made of spines cut through the ground like butter as high-level demons used them to command the low-ranking demons, forcing them to transport materials and carry out orders.
Nuk also saw a leading demon with his arms folded—the one who had spoken earlier.
He stood at least five meters tall, with bumps protruding from his forehead. His upper body was humanoid, but his lower body resembled a crab, with long, sturdy pincers that snapped in the air, causing shockwaves like miniature explosions.
His aura pressed down like a mountain on Nuk and the newly summoned demons.
At this moment, several dozen demons, including Nuk, stood near the peak Rank 0 demon who was coordinating the summoning process.
While low-level Rank 0 demons and middle-tier ones were directed by higher-ranking demons to different areas, a massive army was already forming—numbering in the hundreds of thousands. By this point, the high-level Rank 0 summons had reached 105 in number.
"Alright, you new high-level demons, follow me," the peak Rank 0 demon said as he turned and moved toward the structures.
Nuk and the rest followed.
And Nuk’s mind was filled with thoughts...mostly about the mysterious summoning portal.
First, the place where they landed was similar to the Abyss as intense heat wash over them repeatedly. Apart from feeling slightly uncomfortable, their power was not restricted in any way.
Another thing was that a system had already been put in place. Low and middle demons served not only as part of the army but also as workers.
While he and the other high-level Rank 0 demons seemed to hold considerable importance, he had already seen some high-level Rank 0 demons leading middle-level and lower demons in building these structures.
As they got closer to the building, Nuk could see how huge it was. It must have been thought out beforehand, which showed a new side Nuk was not aware of.
It seemed the demons were not just brainless beasts after all. An orderly system had been built here.
Once inside, they walked for a few minutes before finally reaching an open hall, where the peak-level demon finally stopped.
"Welcome to the Great Demon Vakim Army," the peak-level demon began, his voice full of authority.
"I hope you will suppress your infighting and your demonic instincts. We have a world to conquer." The peak-level demon looked around as he watched them nod.
Could one say demons are lazy? They would rather allow their demonic instincts to take over than reason with their minds. Well, for low-level demons there was nothing they could do, but at least high-level demons were slightly better, so they would serve somewhat as enforcers here.
"Good. The war has already started, but the large amount of death at the front line was too heavy, so we needed a new batch to restore the balance. Which falls upon you," the peak-level demon’s aura flared up as the high-level demons all tensed.
"When the time is right and you are given orders, each one of you will lead a thousand demons and take down specific cities first."
"Afterwards, on our signal, you will join us as we attack the larger provinces."
"The front line has become too dangerous. Our task is to weaken the enemy from the inside and clear out their roots. This will provide considerable support for our leader. Is that understood?"
"Yes!" demon growls echoed in response.
From this, one could see that demons...at least most high-level demons were not used to speech, but they had the ability to understand and speak.
After this was explained, the peak-level demon grouped Nuk and the rest into two and showed them a map.
"You will attack from the west," the peak-level demon pointed to the first group, then turned to Nuk.
"You will attack from the east. The main battle is at the north, so you will move towards it."
"We are currently at the rear of everything, so with their focus on the north, which is the main war front, we will sneak in from the back—the south, spread to west and east ,and slowly take down cities."
"This will disrupt their forces, and we may even destroy some of their army bases."
"As for the rest of the plan, I would love to tell you, but I am afraid your small demon brains would not handle it."
"Just follow orders and destroy. Do not do anything else. Got it?" The peak-level demon glanced briefly at Nuk and the rest as he spoke.
He was getting carried away speaking to them. They were not totally stupid, but they were not peak-level demons anyway, so they could not fully grasp what he was saying. Lord Vakim was not strong enough to hire a large number of peak-level demons, so he had to make do with high-level demons.
Hopefully, they could at least exchange their lives for those of the enemy.
"Get ready and choose your army. You will set off in three days," the peak-level demon said as he dismissed Nuk and the rest.
Sigh... who knew a middle-level world could be this difficult? the peak-level demon frowned slightly as he looked at the retreating backs of Nuk and the rest.
