This is his true feeling; otherwise, being a best man would actually be quite fun.

Seeing Chen Feng's insistence, Qin Zhen had no choice but to give up and reminded him to return two days in advance.

Chen Feng agreed to it.

While having dinner, Chen Feng told Sun Wu about Qin Zhen's engagement ceremony. The two women immediately expressed that they were already aware.

The reason, of course, was because they were invited by Pei Lei to be bridesmaids, so they, too, had to head over two days in advance, coincidentally with Chen Feng.

Chen Feng certainly couldn't object to anything, so he would return to his hometown with them then.

The next day, Chen Feng planned to stay home and not go anywhere.

But around nine in the morning, Zhou Qianru called, saying her husband Ma Wenjiang had been bailed out and hoped Chen Feng could come over to meet him at her place because her husband had a request.

Chen Feng asked, "Can't you just say it over the phone?"

Zhou Qianru gently replied, "It involves things related to the case, and there's something quite private to discuss with you, so it's best to talk in person, preferably at my home. Chen Feng, could you do me this favor? I'm begging you."

Chen Feng admitted that her gentle speech made him feel somewhat softened and reluctantly asked, "Where's your place? If it's too far, I won't go."

Zhou Qianru quickly said, "It's on Ancient Garden Lane, not far from East Lake Road and close to Red Villa Bay."

Regarding Ancient Garden Lane, Chen Feng had some impression; it seemed to have standalone old villas with a long history, some even classified as heritage.

He hadn't expected Ma Wenjiang and Zhou Bingqian's home would be there.

"That's not too far. But how did you know I live at Red Villa Bay?" Chen Feng countered.

"Your residence at Red Villa Bay is no secret; Yanhong told me."

Chen Feng knew it would be that way and said irritably, "Sun Yanhong, you better keep a distance from her."

"You have a prejudice against her; she's actually a really good person."

"Alright, when should I come over?"

"You can come by anytime, even now. You can have lunch at my place."

"No need for lunch. I'll head over now. Send me the address, and I'll contact you upon arrival."

After saying this, Chen Feng hung up, tidied himself briefly, and set off after receiving her home address.

About ten minutes later, the car arrived at Ancient Garden Lane, stopping in front of an old villa with historical significance.

This old villa had a sizable courtyard and consisted of a duplex two-story building, offering quite a lot of space.

Most importantly, this area was the assured old city center; even now, with the municipal government relocated, it remained a highly valuable region where residents were typically wealthy or prestigious.

There had been records of a similar old villa selling for an astronomical price of billions here.

Parking the car and walking towards the gate, just as Chen Feng wanted to ring the doorbell, he heard a click as the iron gate's lock opened automatically, followed by a voice from the speaker near the entrance monitor: "You can come in; we're all waiting for you in the first-floor living room."

Surprisingly, there wasn't anyone at the gate waiting to greet him, nor was there an intention to go out and welcome him—not impressive.

"Okay."

Chen Feng replied, opened the iron gate, and walked right in.

He traversed the courtyard filled with potted plants and floral arrangements, reached the steps of the duplex two-story building's entrance, and stepped through the ajar door where he saw several people seated in the hall.

Besides Ma Wenjiang, Zhou Qianru, and Sun Yanhong, there were two people strangers to Chen Feng, though he could guess they were the fellows among the four.

Chen Feng directly entered. The living room was carpeted, and there wasn't a place to change shoes at the entrance, so he just went in.

"Chairman Chen, we didn't greet you properly. Come and sit."

Seeing Chen Feng enter, the group politely stood up, and as the host, Ma Wenjiang eagerly approached with a broad smile.

Chen Feng found his hospitable demeanor awkward. This guy lacked sincerity; if sincere, he would have at least welcomed him at the entrance instead of waiting in the sitting room for Chen Feng to come in.

Chen Feng dodged his hands reaching for a handshake and directly said, "I have things to attend to later. Just tell me what you want to say."

Ma Wenjiang wasn't embarrassed and laughed, praising, "Chairman Chen, you surely are straightforward. Alright, I'll get right to the point. Firstly, I plan to sell you a house in Red Villa Bay, numbered A08. The interior is renovated but not luxuriously so. There's currently a tenant, but the rental contract expires in less than a month. I'm looking to sell it for ten million; how does that sound?"

Damn, another house-selling trick. Can't they just change tactics?

Chen Feng grumbled silently, suspecting Ma Wenjiang must have heard about Cui Yushu and Tao Xin's dealings and decided to follow suit.

Truthfully, Chen Feng had a fondness for the high-quality villas at Red Villa Bay, and the more, the merrier.

But clearly, offering such low-price housing meant they had a request, so Chen Feng wouldn't readily accept without considering.

"Not interested; too cheap to dare buy."

"Haha, Chairman Chen, you're quite humorous. Ten million isn't cheap; I want the full amount at once—not something just anyone can afford. You're not an ordinary person, so I believe you can fork over ten million at once."

"Anyway, why don't you guys come and sit down? Chen Feng, I've prepared some top-notch Longjing tea, which I think you'll enjoy. Come try it."

Zhou Qianru casually invited Chen Feng, mildly surprising everyone except Sun Yanhong.

"Alright."

Chen Feng answered, walked over, unceremoniously sat in a redwood armchair, picked up the teacup, took a sip, smacked his lips, and thought it was quite nice.

"Chairman Chen, about the house I mentioned, would you consider it?"

Ma Wenjiang pursued.

"Nope." Chen Feng refused outright.

Ma Wenjiang's expression slightly stiffened; the house in Red Villa Bay valued at at least fourteen or fifteen million was essentially being offered as a good favor at ten million, solely to benefit Chen Feng, yet he played hard to get.

Just then, Zhou Qianru spoke up, "Chen Feng, there's more to the murder case my husband is involved in. He was framed at the time. The key figure arranged to meet him in the room to discuss a piece of real estate. When he arrived, he knocked, found the door open, and went in.

Inside, he saw a panicked girl apparently drunk, naked, thinking my husband intended to harm her. She impulsively rushed to the bathroom, locked the door, and then the falling accident occurred shortly after."
