After my divorce, I started to have good luck
Chapter 1216 - 638: Picking Someone Up
After leaving Qin Zhen's house, Chen Feng let out a big sigh of relief.
After all, Qin Zhen was his good buddy, and Mrs. Qin was his elder. If she really wanted to introduce him to someone, agreeing or refusing would both be awkward. That would be too embarrassing.
Coming downstairs, Chen Feng didn't rush to go to Liutiao Town to pick people up right away. Instead, he went into the big wedding tent to take a look.
There were entrances and exits on both sides. The exit near the house also had a small stage decorated quite nicely, looking festive. The entire tent was covered with a bright red carpet, giving off a very joyous vibe.
A passageway over a meter wide ran through the middle, with big round tables neatly arranged on both sides. As Chen Feng walked through, reaching the other exit, he counted a total of 58 tables. It was quite impressive.
It seemed that the number of guests Qin Zhen's family invited was far more than Chen Feng expected. Assuming 10 people per table, these 58 tables could accommodate 580 people.
However, considering the connections of the entire Qin family, having so many people coming over to the feast wasn't really exaggerated.
Of course, setting up so many tables didn't necessarily mean that many people would come. The actual number would depend on how many showed up once the banquet began. Some might even bring their kids, making it a bit hard to count.
Stepping out of the wedding tent, not far away in a temporary setup, a team of over a dozen chefs was already busy.
After taking a quick glance at them, Chen Feng went to his parked Cayenne, got in, started the car, and drove out of the neighborhood.
Following the navigation, Chen Feng headed south, setting off toward Liutiao Town.
In Lin Nan County, Liutiao Town was considered economically underdeveloped. It had only been upgraded from a township to a town in the past few years, and at least half of the area was mountainous.
Previously, driving from the county to Liutiao Town took at least an hour. Besides the poor road conditions, there were many winding mountain roads. A road just one kilometer straight could make you detour three or four kilometers.
But a few years ago, a highway passed through Liutiao Town. From the county, you could get on the highway, drive straight for over ten kilometers, then get off, taking just over ten minutes.
Getting off the highway was one thing; Liutiao Town wasn't exactly small, and the places of Qin Zhen's granduncle and grandaunt weren't close to the highway entrance.
The grandaunt's place was somewhat closer, so Chen Feng used the navigation to go there first.
After coming off the highway, Chen Feng followed the navigation, winding through the small town, and arrived at a village, stopping by the village committee office building intending to call Qin Zhen's grandaunt.
By that time, about forty minutes had passed since he left Qin Zhen's house. πππππ°π²π―π»ππππΉ.ππ¨π
So, despite the direct distance to the county being just over ten kilometers, the round trip was still quite a hassle.
After making the call and communicating in the local dialect, Chen Feng, under the guidance of the grandaunt, drove to her doorstep.
A relatively old-fashioned two-story row house with over a dozen rooms, belonging to the 1980s architecture, was where Qin Zhen's grandaunt lived in one of the rooms.
The front of these houses had a spacious concrete area, making parking quite convenient.
As Chen Feng got out of the car, several people around were already gawking at him and his vehicle, gathering around.
Strangers rarely came to their village, let alone those driving luxury cars, instantly piquing the interest of these locals.
Most of them were elderly, with only a few in their thirties or forties, a common phenomenon in rural areas now, as young people couldn't be retained.
"Young man, who are you looking for?" A man in his sixties or seventies asked in the local dialect.
Chen Feng replied in the local dialect, "I'm looking for Granny Ying. She lives here, right?"
Just then, a woman in her sixties or seventies came out of a house, holding a twelve or thirteen-year-old girl by the hand.
"Here, over here, you're Ah Zhen's friend, right?"
The old woman had a powerful voice, speaking loudly.
Chen Feng quickly replied, "Yes, Granny Ying, that's me."
Qin Zhen's grandaunt, pulling the young girl with her, walked over to him with a bright smile, saying loudly, "Ah Zhen and his mom are certainly thoughtful. They sent someone to pick me up specially for the engagement. It's such a long way, much trouble to you."
Someone on the spot curiously asked, "Sister-in-law Ying, are you going to the feast?"
"Yes, my grandniece who married into the county seat has her son getting engaged today. They insisted I attend the feast. I can't refuse since they sent a car for me."
Chen Feng was a bit taken aback to learn it was Qin Zhen's mother's aunt. He had thought it was his dad's grandaunt, which would have been a closer kinship through his grandmother's sisters.
The mother's aunt on Qin Zhen's side, likely, didn't maintain strong ties with their generation, and inviting her to the feast was the Qin family's way of honoring old ties. Otherwise, why would his family be interested in the wedding gift money?
Moreover, the Qin family sent Chen Feng, a volunteer driver with a luxury car, not only giving the grandaunt much face but also letting her have a moment of pride among her neighbors.
"Is it the grandniece you always mentioned working at the finance department?" Someone else asked.
Granny Ying's smile grew even brighter. "Yes, exactly, I only have two grandnieces. One married far away, and we've lost touch, while the other is this one with whom I often keep in contact."
