After my divorce, I started to have good luck
Chapter 1233 - 645: Spur-of-the-Moment Decision (Part 2)
Wang Fang started to ramble on about her miserable life, how she had to raise two kids, how her husband was useless and unambitious, and how hard she worked. She was obviously a bit drunk, sharing what should and shouldn't be said, including the couple's little disharmony, making Chen Feng and Zhao Zixuan feel awkward.
Luckily, today was a good day; Chen Feng drove back without hitting many red lights and returned to Qingpu Town in less than twenty minutes. He then quickly remembered the way to Wang Fang's house.
Wang Fang and her current husband were both from Qingpu Town, and since they lived closer to the town entrance, it was natural to drop her off first.
"Wang Fang, we're here. Get out of the car."
Wang Fang's non-stop chatter in the car gave Chen Feng a headache, so he directly told her to get off when the car stopped.
"Ah, we're here? So soon?" Wang Fang was a bit stunned, turned her head to look outside the car, and then reluctantly reached to open the door, sighing, "I really wanted to come back later, but the two kids can't do without me, damn it."
Wang Fang eventually got out of the car, said goodbye to Chen Feng and Zhao Zixuan, and, with an unsteady gait, walked towards her house.
Her husband, a man wearing glasses, in his thirties, not tall, not short, not fat, not thin, not handsome, not ugly—in simple terms, average-looking—stood at the door holding a two or three-year-old child, looking a bit displeased as he watched her get out of the car.
Chen Feng didn't concern himself with what Wang Fang's husband was thinking; he immediately started the car and headed towards his own home.
"It seems Wang Fang's married life isn't that great," Zhao Zixuan remarked with some sentiment.
Chen Feng smiled but didn't respond.
Zhao Zixuan then asked, "Was that her husband at the door?"
Chen Feng replied, "Probably. Actually, I don't know him."
"You're either her classmate or from the same town, and yet you don't know her husband?"
"Isn't that normal? Ever since I went to college in Xiu Zhou, I rarely came back to this area."
"Didn't she invite you to her wedding?"
"I don't think she did."
"Oh, I see, she didn't invite me either."
During this conversation, the car arrived at Chen Feng's doorstep; sure enough, there was a silver-gray Volvo SUV parked on the roadside with its window down, and a long-haired woman sitting in the driver's seat.
Chen Feng parked his car next to that one, and Zhao Zixuan immediately rolled down the window and excitedly shouted, "Hongfen!"
Over there, Yu Hongfen squealed with delight upon seeing Zhao Zixuan, instantly opened the car door and got out. Zhao Zixuan hurried to get out as well; the two women excitedly hugged each other, laughing and jumping—a sign of their close friendship.
Chen Feng's car was still on the road, so he quickly drove it up onto the driveway in front of his house, then got out and walked towards Zhao Zixuan and the two women.
Being at his own doorstep, he definitely couldn't just go inside without saying a word.
Seeing Chen Feng approaching, Zhao Zixuan warmly held Yu Hongfen's hand and said with a smile, "Chen Feng, surely you recognize your own relative?"
Yu Hongfen greeted Chen Feng with a cheerful and easy manner, "Chen Feng, long time no see."
"Yeah, long time no see," Chen Feng replied with a smile.
They had some family connections, having known each other from childhood, but never formally greeted each other before, as traditionally, there are distinctions between men and women.
This was their first more formal meeting.
"You don't need to be so formal," Zhao Zixuan laughed.
Yu Hongfen chuckled and said, "Formality is necessary. Although we've technically known each other since childhood, we've never formally spoken, and it's been years since we last saw each other. Right, Chen Feng?"
This was true, and Chen Feng laughed as he nodded.
"It's thanks to me that you relatives are meeting again," Zhao Zixuan laughed, then turned to look at Chen Feng's house and asked with a smile, "Chen Feng, do you live here?"
Chen Feng nodded, pointed to his house, and said, "Yes, this is my house. Do you want to come in for a bit?"
Chen Feng asked this purely out of politeness, as usually, people know it's not appropriate to visit when not planned. After all, she came to see Yu Hongfen, not to visit his house.
But to both Chen Feng and Yu Hongfen's surprise, Zhao Zixuan immediately nodded with a smile, "Sure, since I'm already at your door, I might as well come in for a bit. I'm curious about what your place looks like. However, I came empty-handed; hope you don't mind?"
Chen Feng was dumbfounded for a moment, and Yu Hongfen found it a bit improper, gently tugging at her arm. However, Zhao Zixuan exchanged a meaningful glance with Yu Hongfen; after four years as college classmates, Yu Hongfen knew this look well.
Whenever Zhao Zixuan made a decision or had something in mind she couldn't say in front of others, it was always this look.
Understanding this, Yu Hongfen didn't object any further.
"What? Not welcoming me as a guest at your house?"
Seeing Chen Feng not reacting, Zhao Zixuan laughed and continued.
"Of course…not," Chen Feng felt a bit aggrieved, feeling he was set up by her, but it didn't really matter. Quickly adjusting, he smiled and gestured, "Please, you're welcome to my place."
After saying this, Chen Feng turned and walked towards his home.
