After walking for a while, Fang Ye finally slowed down, letting the breeze and the city noise wash over him.

"You’re Chinese right? What made you come to the States?"

"It’s peaceful," he said.

"I used to come here when work brought me to New York," Liuxian said. "It clears the head."

Guiying looked at him. "You never struck me as someone who needed his head cleared."

Guiying looked back at the water. The reflection of the sky sat on its surface, still and perfect, and he thought about how different this was from everything he had known.

Life was strange.

"Do you still want to sleep with me? I don’t want you to feel like it’s an obligation or that you owe me. I brought you here, so you could enjoy all the wonders, life has to offer and to see that lovely smile on your face. As I said before, I won’t force you to do anything you don’t want to do.."

Guiying smiled and stood up.

Staring at the water.
