After Rebirth, Minor Character Only Wants to Level Up
Chapter 551 - 526: Let Go
Even though her brother didn’t care, Liu Rui couldn’t help but feel a surge of anger upon hearing it.
"Big brother, you’re too laid-back now. You and Ye Qian aren’t even divorced yet, and she’s already flirting with others. Is she completely disregarding our family? No way, when I go back, I must ask Ye Qian what she’s thinking. If you want to flirt with men, do it outside; why do it in the compound, where who knows how many people might be laughing at our family now?"
"Okay, I’m just telling you. I can’t say this to outsiders, and I don’t care much. Why are you so eager? Anyway, I’m going to divorce her tomorrow. As for her current behavior, even if she wants to flirt with Sun Mingjie, the Sun Family wouldn’t agree. You know what kind of people the Sun Family are. With all the trouble Ye Qian has caused, and her being from our family, the Sun Family wouldn’t want to offend us and wouldn’t let their son be with Ye Qian." Liu Zhiyuan had seen through everything early on, so he truly didn’t care.
He even hoped Sun Mingjie and Ye Qian would get into some trouble together, so he could see Ye Qian being pointed at and scolded everywhere she went.
"Big brother, I originally thought I was already very wronged. I didn’t expect you to have so many issues as well. You have to hold on. You’ll meet someone better in the future." Liu Rui didn’t know how to comfort her brother and felt frustrated.
Liu Zhiyuan smiled and patted his sister’s head, "Come on, I’ll take you to eat at a restaurant today."
Liu Rui knew her brother wasn’t in a good mood, and she was also feeling stifled, so she nodded. The two siblings went to a restaurant. It happened to be the weekend, so they chose the noodle shop they used to go to near the school.
Years had passed, and the noodle shop had expanded, now offering stir-fried dishes. Besides students, it was also busy with people from the community, making it one of the city’s well-known noodle shops.
When Ye Ling and Shen Bin returned from the park, they headed straight for the noodle shop. Unexpectedly, at the entrance, they ran into the Liu siblings, who were also there to eat.
Liu Rui felt a bit embarrassed when she saw Ye Ling, but Liu Zhiyuan acted as if nothing had happened, greeted warmly, and even invited the four of them to eat together.
In the morning, Xiang Weilai had called Ye Ling to talk about the divorce with Liu Rui. Seeing Liu Rui here, Ye Ling figured a bit of the situation and, noting the Liu family’s grace, did not refuse, so the four of them sat together.
"It’s rare to have such a moment; today, it’s my treat, let’s order a few more dishes." Liu Zhiyuan called the waiter, ordered some specialties, got a bowl of noodles for each of them, and also some bottles of beer.
"Ye Ling, I’ve divorced Xiang Weilai, so seeing you now doesn’t make me feel as awkward as before. I suddenly feel relieved." Liu Rui reached across the table to grab Ye Ling’s hand holding a cup, her face sincere. "I apologize again for what I did before, regardless of whether you forgive me or not. At least I know I was wrong in the past. Now I’ve chosen to start anew, and I feel so light. Ye Ling, I’m sorry we couldn’t be friends before. In the next life, I’d surely want to be friends with you."
Both Liu Zhiyuan and Shen Bin, sitting at the same table, remained silent and just watched the two women.
"Liu Rui, I wish you happiness and hope you find it." Ye Ling could tell Liu Rui’s smile was genuine.
She couldn’t quite describe her feelings. It was unexpected that after such a roundabout journey, they, who once seemed like enemies, could now sit here like friends, quietly eating and facing each other.
Liu Rui nodded vigorously, "Don’t worry, I will definitely find new happiness."
With such a beginning, the meal continued comfortably. Ye Ling and Liu Rui occasionally talked, with Liu Rui describing Shenzhen, a place Ye Ling longed to visit. Having lived two lifetimes, she’d never traveled outside, only to Beijing.
Liu Zhiyuan and Shen Bin drank a lot of alcohol. However, Shen Bin had a good tolerance; no matter how much he drank, he sat there steadily as if he hadn’t drunk a drop.
But Liu Zhiyuan drank too much. When he got up, he was wobbling, and Ye Ling hurried to pay the bill.
Liu Zhiyuan waved his hand grandly, "Next time, it’s on me."
He was wobbly and slurring, speaking unclearly, while Liu Rui supported her brother, smiling wryly at Ye Ling.
She glanced at Shen Bin and whispered to Ye Ling, "Ye Ling, you’ve got a good eye; you’ve found a great husband."
Ye Ling smiled, "I know."
She reminded her, "Your brother drank a lot; take care of him on your way home."
Only then did the four of them part ways.
On the way back, Ye Ling noticed Shen Bin had been pressing his lips together and couldn’t help but pinch his waist.
"Alright, I know. Standing so close, you couldn’t not hear others praising you. Why pretend to be deep? If you want to laugh, just laugh, or if you want to say something." Ye Ling knew that this man beside her was reserved. Though his heart was full of joy, he was pretending to be deep.
"You’re right; I’m quite happy hearing others say you found a good husband. I’m thinking I haven’t done too badly." Shen Bin praised himself first, then turned back to Ye Ling with deep affection, "Let’s go to Shenzhen during vacation!"
"Why suddenly think of that?"
"During the meal, I saw how much you longed for Shenzhen when Liu Rui mentioned it. So, we should visit during vacation and also check on Weilai’s situation. Otherwise, you’ll worry about him with your temperament." Shen Bin openly shared his thoughts.
Ye Ling’s heart warmed, "You don’t get upset that I care so much about Xiang Weilai?"
"You’re my wife." Shen Bin’s few words were powerful and unyielding.
Seeing his domineering demeanor, Ye Ling chuckled, "Alright, during next year’s vacation, we’ll go to Shenzhen."
After living another life and experiencing so much, Ye Ling had come to understand many things. Happiness was right in front of her; she just needed to grasp it tightly, without hesitating or overthinking about irrelevant matters. What was tangible was real.
Meanwhile, once the Liu siblings returned home, Liu Rui had a smile on her face that made Wu Mengyi feel at ease. Afraid to ask too much and upset her daughter, she held back her questions.
The next day, Liu Zhiyuan asked Ye Qian to take time off, and the two went to the civil affairs bureau to process their divorce certificate.
