After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World
Chapter 2028: West Alterran Road
So far, about a month or so after Silvia proposed it, most of the villages chosen in this route had already decided on what to do and what products they’d like to offer.
One was the closest Terran village to Old Shrao Village. They were on the verge of upgrading and proactively chose the Bathhouse. Their market was not just the villages, but also the people from Ceramica, which was relatively nearby to them.
They decided to develop related industries like bath bombs, bath scents, herbal bath mixtures, and massage parlors. They did not limit their massage parlors to the Bathhouse and decided to invest in various other establishments and industries related to it.
One reason they chose this was because their territory had been the landing place of more than a hundred attendees of a Masseuse convention being held in Terran at the time.
They had been taken over by Voumi’s subsidiary back then, and dozens of masseuses had already perished, but a lot of them managed to survive and live decently as slaves precisely because of their skills.
Now that they had recovered their home village, they hoped to use the same skills to develop it. Further, with the experience of serving aborigines, they had also learned their preferences and adjusted the techniques accordingly.
In time, they hoped to be known as the Massage Capital of the Alterra region. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Another village contained a large number of rural folk and farmers. The Xenoan village included the population of about a dozen Terran rural villages.
It so happened that farmers were also physically stronger and had better survivability in forests, so it could be said that their ’occupation’ had one of the highest survival rates compared to others, comparable to soldiers and law enforcement officers.
Rather, some would argue it was even higher. After all, at least in the beginning of the apocalypse, soldiers and law enforcement had somewhat of a self-sacrificing attitude, often putting others first.
Even if they were perfectly capable of surviving, stupid teammates pushed some of them to their deaths.
In the end, only about a third of the people who landed near this village were non-farmers.
Interestingly, the various villages that congregated specialized in handling orchards. During the apocalypse, a lot of them actually took bags of seeds into their spaces, including some of their farming tools. They also hoarded a lot of basic food like rice, so they could be said to have sufficient resources in their spaces when they got pulled to this place.
The farmers here managed to plant hectares and hectares of oranges, lemons, grapes, and apples, though the apples had only recently borne fruit. Their only challenge for the longest time was that they were too isolated in terms of location.
In fact, they had only been attacked twice because no one really knew where they were. The result was one loss and one win, with the loss being against an aborigine territory, but fortunately, they managed to keep the token by hiding the Lord well.
Now that they have been connected with the ’rest of the world’, they smartly decided to invest in the processing of their specialty fruits. They were now building factories for dried fruits, candied apples, and so on.
Luckily, they also had a few agricultural merchants in their midst, which was a common career in the rural area. There were also plenty who had their own recipes for the processed products, so there would be an array of choices, even if the raw materials were the same.
These were just two examples, and there would be more to come. For a project that had only begun a month prior, this development speed could be said to be super fast already.
And this was just one Route.
Speaking of which, the Route between Ceramica and Alterra would hereby be referred to as the West Alterran Road.
Later, the other towns like Ferrol, Basset, and Flaret would also scramble to develop similar routes, further solidifying the strength of the entire region. This also increased the variety and quality of the products available.
But this was something for later.
For Calming Village along the Wester Alterran Road, they chose the ’landmark’ route. Specifically, the Training Hall.
They had recently upgraded thanks to all the traffic, and they immediately applied for subsidies to activate the Training Hall, which was really very, very expensive to purchase.
Thanks to this, many ’powerhouses’ from nearby villages often went to them to train for a while, and many even ended up staying. It was a virtuous cycle that solidified Calming’s development.
In time, they might even open up an elementalist training area.
After all, among the Terran territories, Calming was among those that managed to train and develop its military well. Combined with their experience staying in Alterra, they managed to create a program that could be attractive to many visitors wanting to grow stronger.
Gale, now the lead military personnel, smiled as he looked at the bustling village doused with a palpable atmosphere for growth. It gave a reassurance that, barring unexpected circumstances, things would only get better.
"It feels very gratifying to see our old home recover," he said. When they were taken over back then, it felt like the sky had crumbled.
He never would’ve thought they could recover the village from the strong aborigines, let alone see it thrive even more than before. "It is very gratifying to see everyone working to grow," he said.
His right-hand man, Mart, chuckled next to him. "We have to grow stronger so our tributes to Alterra would grow."
Gale smiled and nodded. That was indeed the best ’payment’ they could do at this juncture.
Mart was one of the lucky ones who had lived in Alterra when they lost Calming Village, but he still chose to head back. He was a soldier, first and foremost, and he knew where he was needed.
They often went to Alterra to grind and level up, with the guards of the territory going in shifts. Every time they went there, it seemed like something new and fun had appeared.
Of course, while life in Alterra was enviable, they believed life in their home village wouldn’t be too bad either.
And it really was.
