After the Divorce, I Unlocked a Perfect Life
Chapter 122 - 104: My Office Must Be Soundproofed (2)
"Is the money enough?"
"Of course. I’ve never had a job with such a generous budget." Liang Shuhuo shrugged.
"I’m sorry to inform you, I didn’t even use up the 25 million. Even including the costs for the noodle shop, there was still some left."
"You have money and you can’t even spend it?"
"I could have spent it if I’d wanted to, but I didn’t see the need. I consider you a friend, so I didn’t want to add a bunch of flashy but impractical things."
As she leaned back in her chair, the ample curves of her chest were perfectly outlined.
"I’ve always believed in not spending money unnecessarily. That’s why I rarely do design work for those brainless nouveau riche."
As she spoke, Liang Shuhuo opened her drawer and took out a stack of A4 paper, neatly held together with a clip.
"These are the costs and details for the renovation. There’s still over two million left. Give me an account number, and I’ll refund the rest to you."
"Perfect. I have another place that needs your magic touch. Got time? I can take you for a look."
"Of course."
Downing the tea in her cup, Liang Shuhuo slipped on her blazer, grabbed her bag, and got ready to leave with Lin Jiang.
"I think if you buttoned up your blazer, you’d give off more of that powerful, mature woman vibe."
"If I button it, it’s not just a powerful, mature woman vibe you’ll be getting," Liang Shuhuo said with a sly grin.
"Hmm? What do you mean?"
"Wanna see?"
"I don’t want to, but my eyes do."
Liang Shuhuo gave a mysterious smile. "Alright then, I’ll give you a little peek."
Setting down her bag, Liang Shuhuo buttoned her blazer.
The blazer was a V-neck design with only three buttons on the lower half.
But once it was buttoned, her generous bust strained against the fabric, pushing the lapels wide apart.
The phrase "ready to burst" was made manifest in that moment.
"Now that’s a visual."
"See? That’s why I said I can’t button it. It’s too provocative. Anyone who didn’t know better would think I was going out to pick up men."
"I guess there’s a reason your little money tree isn’t growing."
"Hahaha! Are you saying all the nutrients went up here instead?"
"I didn’t say it, you did."
She shot Lin Jiang a flirtatious glare. "You’re so bad, teasing me again."
A moment later, they were in the car.
Lin Jiang took Liang Shuhuo to his company.
"Ignore Risk Investment Co., Ltd.?"
Glancing at the plaque by the door, Liang Shuhuo looked Lin Jiang up and down.
"Don’t tell me this is your company."
"Director Liang is as sharp as they come. Talking to you is effortless."
"I could tell it was your style just by the name."
Lin Jiang took out his key and opened the door. Liang Shuhuo went inside and looked around. "This all came with the rental, right?"
"Yeah. It’s just a temporary space for now."
"My advice is to focus on replacing the hardware, with soft furnishings as a secondary concern," Liang Shuhuo said.
"The main office space should be simple and clean. I’ll get you some high-quality computers, printers, and things like that, and then I’ll really deck out the general manager’s office for you."
"Director Liang really knows design. Things like these Venetian blinds have got to go."
"To ensure privacy, right?"
"What did I tell you? You catch on instantly."
"Should I add some soundproofing? Make the desk bigger? Maybe the kind you can hide someone under?"
Lin Jiang gave Liang Shuhuo a meaningful look.
"It seems Director Liang is a kindred spirit."
"You should probably get yourself a secretary first. Otherwise, this office’s... potential... will go to waste."
"You know, now that you mention it, I remember you have glasses in your bag, right?"
"I do. Why?"
"Try them on."
Liang Shuhuo immediately understood what Lin Jiang was implying.
"You’re terrible," Liang Shuhuo chided playfully. "What’s the renovation budget for this place?"
"The two million-plus that’s left over. Try to spend it all. And while you’re at it, design a logo for me. Something decent is fine."
"You really are a big spender. I love clients like you," Liang Shuhuo said with a sly smile.
Lin Jiang muttered to himself, ’How did she know I was big in more ways than one?’
RING RING RING—
Liang Shuhuo’s phone rang.
"Hello."
’Why them again?’
Apparently having a work matter to discuss, Liang Shuhuo turned and stepped out.
Lin Jiang didn’t disturb her. He stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, looking out at the river view.
Even though this was just a rented office, he had a premonition, an inexplicable confidence.
’This office is just a transitional space.’
’One day, I’ll definitely have my own top-tier office building standing tall in the heart of the CBD, overlooking all of Zhonghai.’
Just as Lin Jiang was lost in thought, Liang Shuhuo returned.
He was about to resume their conversation about the renovation when he noticed a daily task had appeared above her head!
’A new task.’
[Task Name: Work Troubles]
[Task Description: A client’s porcelain was accidentally broken by a renovation worker. She faces a high compensation claim and doesn’t know how to resolve it.]
[Task Reward: Slimming Card*1, 20 EXP]
’A Slimming Card?’
[Slimming Card: Allows the target to lose ten pounds in 10 days, with no rebound for one year.]
’This reward is pretty interesting.’
’But I already have a Fitness Card, so I have no use for this. I could use it for other things, though, or on someone else.’
"Something’s come up. I have to go. Leave a key to the office for me, and I’ll have someone come by to take measurements later."
"What happened? You’re in such a hurry," Lin Jiang said. "You didn’t drive. I’ll give you a ride."
"Okay. We can talk on the way."
"Alright."
Soon, they were back in the car.
Liang Shuhuo sent Lin Jiang a location, and he started driving toward the destination.
"What’s wrong? You look so worried."
"I have this one client... well, how do I put this... the project has been a complete mess from the very beginning," Liang Shuhuo said.
