Age of Wizards: I Can Analyze All Things
Chapter 108 - 84: Growth-Type Wizarding Tool (Part 2)
"You’d best think carefully before you decide whether you want this Wizard Tool."
’Think about it my ass!’
’Of course I want it!’
A wave of excitement washed over Pei Ze.
According to his teacher, Silverstar was practically a Wizard Tool tailor-made for him.
’Others can’t figure out the perfect metal combination, but can’t the Eye of Omniscience analyze it?’
’Once he knows the perfect metal combination, he can evolve Silverstar into a top-tier Wizard Tool.’
’As for finances, he was an Alchemist himself, so he didn’t need to worry too much about money.’
’Knowledge and wealth—the two biggest obstacles to unlocking Silverstar’s full potential—were already solved. What was there to even consider?’
Pei Ze made his decision almost instantly.
On the surface, however, he pretended to think for a moment before nodding heavily. "Teacher, I’ll take this one."
Mo Weng didn’t say much. He gave a slight nod, and with a wave of his sleeve, a book slowly drifted toward Pei Ze.
"This book records several metal combinations researched by previous owners of Silverstar. You can study them for reference when you have time."
"You can also try researching the perfectly balanced combination, but don’t invest too much energy into it. It’s only a theoretical possibility. You should think about which aspects you want to focus on and then develop your own unique combination."
"Yes, Teacher."
Pei Ze took the book, readily agreeing.
Of course, only he knew what he was really thinking.
"What else do you want to redeem with your remaining two hundred merit points?" Mo Weng asked.
Pei Ze thought for a moment and said, "I’ll redeem the Vile-Illusion Potion."
Mo Weng waved his hand. "You can just buy the Vile-Illusion Potion directly from me. There’s no need to waste merit points."
Pei Ze had planned on this anyway, so he nodded in agreement.
"Teacher, can I hold on to my merit points for now and redeem them later when I find something I want?"
He remembered that the redemption list included various rare metals.
It wouldn’t be too late to come back and purchase the corresponding rare metals after he returned and analyzed Silverstar’s metal combination formula.
Mo Weng nodded. "As you wish. You can go directly to the logistics department to redeem them later."
After a pause, Mo Weng asked again, "How has your potion practice been lately?"
"Very smoothly. I’m currently trying to concoct the Dragon Blood Potion. I should be able to succeed soon."
Hearing this, a gratified smile appeared on Mo Weng’s face. He nodded and said, "Very good. Your talent in alchemy is truly outstanding. You haven’t disappointed me."
"Keep up the hard work. If there’s anything you don’t understand, you can come find me."
Pei Ze immediately agreed.
Yin Xue glanced at Pei Ze, marveling inwardly.
’At Pei Ze’s age, she had only just recently succeeded in concocting a non-tiered potion.’
’After that, it took her nearly another year to successfully concoct her first Tier One Potion.’
’And for that, people had already called her an alchemy genius.’
’But compared to Pei Ze, she was far inferior.’
After a few more words of encouragement, Mo Weng waved his hand, dismissing them.
Leaving the alchemy lab, Pei Ze smiled at Yin Xue and asked, "Senior Sister, I heard the Silver Light Legion’s Witch Hunting Team sent you an invitation. What are your plans?"
Yin Xue said, "I’ve already accepted. I’ll report for duty with the Witch Hunting Team in three months, but I’ll be staying at the academy for now."
Pei Ze nodded. ’That’s about what I figured.’
’Having just advanced to a Wizard, she needs time to stabilize her realm.’
After chatting a bit more, the two parted ways at the entrance to the gardens.
Pei Ze headed straight for the potion repository to purchase the Vile-Illusion Potion.
A Tier Two Potion was only one level higher than a Tier One Potion, but the price difference was enormous.
Tier One Potions generally cost between four hundred and six hundred Gold Coins. For example, the Dragon Blood Potion was worth five hundred Gold Coins.
Tier Two Potions, however, started at five or six thousand Gold Coins, almost ten times the price of a Tier One Potion.
A potion like the Vile-Illusion Potion, considered top-tier even among Tier Two Potions, cost as much as seven thousand five hundred Gold Coins, which was equivalent to fifteen Magic Stone Coins.
Pei Ze bought four bottles in one go, spending a total of sixty Magic Stone Coins.
If he hadn’t come into a windfall recently, he probably would have had to sell a batch or two of potions just to scrape together the money for the Vile-Illusion Potion.
...
「Back at his apartment.」
Pei Ze went to his bedroom, sat down, and took out the Vile-Illusion Potion, placing it in his palm.
The potion was in a transparent glass bottle. It was a slender-necked vial, like a miniature vase, about the length of his palm, and sealed with a brown cork.
Inside was a violet liquid, dotted with shimmering specks of light like a star-strewn sky.
Moonlight streamed in through the window, falling on the liquid in the bottle and making it shimmer with a beautiful, enchanting hue.
Judging by its appearance alone, it was hard to guess that such a beautiful potion would have a name containing two words as malicious as "Vile-Illusion."
Gently uncorking the bottle, Pei Ze took a deep breath, then tilted his head back and drank the potion in one gulp.
The slightly cool liquid rushed into his stomach, transforming into an icy current that spread rapidly through his limbs.
Pei Ze fell back onto the bed, relaxing his mind and body.
About ten seconds later, his body suddenly tensed up, then began to convulse violently.
His muscles visibly twisted and cramped, an unnatural flush appeared on his skin, and beads of sweat poured out, drenching his clothes in an instant.
If a Wizard were present and scanned him with their Spiritual Power, they would see a massive amount of Energy Particles converging around Pei Ze.
The dense swarm of Energy Particles almost completely enveloped him, making him look like a multicolored, humanoid cocoon. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Every second, countless Energy Particles seeped into his body through his pores.
Pei Ze gritted his teeth, enduring the excruciating pain that washed over him in waves.
Just then, he suddenly felt a sinister chill slowly spreading through the room.
TAP!
A faint footstep seemed to sound in his ear.
Pei Ze struggled to turn his head and saw that a horde of zombies with deathly pale skin and rotting flesh had appeared in the room.
Qi Meng, Pei Shaoqi, Li Ke, Huo Nan... they were all enemies who had once died by his hand.
They growled, their faces twisted with venomous malice as they slowly closed in on him.
Pei Ze lay on the bed, his body rigid and unable to move, only able to watch as the zombies slowly approached.
He could even clearly see their rotting flesh and the foul, viscous fluid constantly dripping from their bodies.
Finally, the disgusting zombies lunged forward, their sharp teeth sinking viciously into Pei Ze’s flesh.
By this point, Pei Ze’s entire body was so wracked with pain that it had gone numb, devoid of any sensation.
He watched, wide-eyed, as he was torn apart, slowly reduced to shredded meat and bone, and devoured by the zombies. In the end, only his head remained, forced to witness the entire process of his own dismemberment.
PFFT!
After a soft sound, everything vanished.
The zombies, the flesh, and the slime—all gone.
The room returned to its previous calm.
Pei Ze lay on the bed, drenched in sweat, as if he had just been pulled from the water.
"These side effects are way too strong..."
The side effects of the Vile-Illusion Potion were excruciating pain and hallucinations.
Pei Ze already knew this, but their intensity was somewhat unexpected.
The pain was one thing.
But as for the hallucination, even though his subconscious clearly understood it was just an illusion, watching himself being dismembered was still deeply unsettling.
"Vile-Illusion... the name certainly lives up to itself."
Pei Ze took a long while to recover some of his energy before sitting up.
"Omniscience, check my current status."
[Spirit 123.68]
[Physique 66.56]
"My Spirit increased by 3.2 points. Not bad."
A pleased expression appeared on Pei Ze’s face.
For his Spirit attribute, which was already over 120, to still see such a large increase, the effects of the Vile-Illusion Potion were truly impressive.
It was worth the torment he had just endured.
’I still have three bottles left. Factoring in diminishing returns from tolerance, I should be able to increase my Spirit by another four or five points.’
Pei Ze nodded to himself, deciding to take one Vile-Illusion Potion every two days from now on.
It was uncomfortable, but there was no other way to increase his Spiritual Power.
The path to increasing one’s strength was never an easy one.
