Age of Wizards: I Can Analyze All Things
Chapter 179 - 118: Purchasing Slaves, Speculation on Corvid Magical Creatures
’Corpse Princess?’
Pei Ze followed Luo Song’s finger, and his gaze fell upon several girls sitting inside an iron cage.
They sat completely still, their skin deathly pale. Their pretty features were somewhat vacant, and their loose, pitch-black robes failed to conceal their slender figures.
If not for their completely black eyes and the thick aura of the Undead surrounding them, they would have looked no different from ordinary human girls.
"Corpse Princesses require no sleep or food. They work tirelessly without complaint, making them, without a doubt, the finest of servants."
Luo Song explained, all the while carefully observing Pei Ze’s expression.
Seeing that the young Wizard’s eyes were clear and his gaze calm, he concluded Pei Ze didn’t seem like someone with any... special predilections, and swallowed the rest of his sales pitch.
However, the moment Luo Song finished, Tong Ming shook his head and retorted, "Corpse Princesses may not need to eat, but they must absorb Netherworld Power periodically. If they don’t, they’ll weaken and die. That’s no small expense."
"Furthermore, any place a Corpse Princess stays for an extended period will begin to fester with a deathly miasma. For anyone without the constitution of a Knight or stronger, long-term exposure to the same environment will, at best, lead to illness and a severe drain on one’s vitality. At worst, their life force will wither away, and they will die."
Luo Song glanced at Tong Ming in surprise, not expecting this plain-looking, middle-aged man to be so knowledgeable about Corpse Princesses.
Then, looking back at Pei Ze’s youthful face, Luo Song instantly understood. ’This man must be an agent from the Wizard Management Department, here specifically to help this newly-promoted Wizard pick out slaves.’
People from the Wizard Management Department were all shrewd and not easily fooled.
Realizing this, Luo Song snapped to attention and, with a cheerful smile, led Pei Ze to another section.
"No problem. If the Corpse Princesses aren’t to your satisfaction, Sir, we have many other slaves to choose from."
"Like these, for example."
Luo Song stopped in front of a cage and pointed at the creatures inside.
"Water Sprites are gentle-natured and fond of cleanliness. They can also manipulate the Power of Water Element, making them another excellent choice for servants."
The Water Sprites Luo Song mentioned stood about a meter tall, making them slightly taller than a Half-Elf.
They had coppery-red hair, porcelain skin, and faces so perfect they seemed to have stepped right out of a painting.
Their large, round eyes were a deep, mysterious shade, and their long, slender ears swept back, showing a hint of elven features.
Although "Water" is in their name, Water Sprites do not actually live in water.
On the contrary, they prefer to live in small groves or on the tops of hills.
Water Sprites are known as the embodiment of natural beauty, possessing an innate, exquisite appearance.
In many works of fiction, Water Sprites are often relegated to the role of helpful sidekicks for heroic Knights.
Unfortunately, reality is cruel. Due to their feeble combat abilities and exquisite appearance, Water Sprites are an extremely popular slave commodity across many planes, making them an easy target for interplanar slavers.
"Sir, Water Sprites are indeed well-suited for handling the daily cleaning of a residence," Tong Ming whispered, leaning in.
Pei Ze nodded slightly and turned to Luo Song. "What’s the price?"
Luo Song’s spirits lifted, and he replied without a moment’s hesitation, "A single Water Sprite is 450 Magic Stone Coins. If you buy five or more at once, I can give you a five percent discount."
"Too expensive!" Tong Ming shot back immediately. "Don’t think I don’t know the going rate. A Ten Thousand Flowers Fairy costs only around 700 Magic Stone Coins. These Water Sprites are nowhere near as valuable as a Ten Thousand Flowers Fairy. They aren’t worth 450 Magic Stone Coins; 300 is the most they should be."
"You must be joking, sir. For 300 Magic Stone Coins, you might be able to buy a Green Elf..."
After a fierce verbal battle of haggling, the two finally settled on a price of 415 Magic Stone Coins per sprite.
The Water Sprites in the cage seemed to sense their impending fate. They huddled together, trembling, and stared fearfully at Pei Ze and his companions.
"Sir, that price is reasonable. You won’t find a lower one at the other tents," Tong Ming said quietly.
Pei Ze nodded slightly and pointed at the cage. "There are six Water Sprites. I’ll take them all."
Luo Song’s face broke into a wide grin as he agreed enthusiastically.
Six Water Sprites, even with the five percent discount, would come to over 2,300 Magic Stone Coins. This was, without a doubt, a huge sale.
The commission he stood to make from this deal was no small sum; how could he not be excited?
"Do you require any other slaves, Sir?" Luo Song asked, his tone growing even more enthusiastic as he bowed his back a little lower without even realizing it.
"Do you have any races here that specialize in caring for rare plants?"
"Yes, of course!" Luo Song nodded without hesitation. "Both Wood Elves and Withered Leaf Fairies are experts at tending to rare plants."
"Wood Elves are 100 Magic Stone Coins each, and Withered Leaf Fairies are 50. How many would you like, Sir?"
Pei Ze did a quick mental calculation. "Five Wood Elves and ten Withered Leaf Fairies."
"No problem. I’ll take the liberty of giving you a ten percent discount on those, Sir."
Luo Song said, his face wreathed in smiles, before leading Pei Ze to select the Wood Elves and Withered Leaf Fairies.
The Wood Elves were the same kind of elves Pei Ze had seen working in the fields of Medicine Garden No. 8.
They could naturally communicate with plants and were skilled at caring for all sorts of rare flora. Their expertise in this field was in no way inferior to that of a Tier One Alchemist.
The same was true for the Withered Leaf Elves.
They could sense the condition of plants even better than Wood Elves and were born with an awakened, spell-like ability similar to Plant Spirit Light that could enhance plant growth.
However, their bodies were tiny, about the size of a Ten Thousand Flowers Fairy, making it difficult for them to move pots and jugs for watering. That was why Pei Ze had specifically purchased a few Wood Elves to help them.
