Age of Wizards: I Can Analyze All Things
Chapter 75 - 71: Gem Magic
He possessed an immense, indestructible body and immense Magical Power over the earth element.
Therefore, his believers often possessed robust physiques and abilities in earth-elemental Magic.
For example, the Demonized Pei Ze had encountered before possessed an incredibly tough body that was impervious to blades.
In recent months, while the Wizards of Chenxi City were focused on the new plane, the influence of Ah Beipu’s followers had expanded dramatically.
They obtained Ah Beipu’s blood through rituals, refined it into Demon Potions, and secretly distributed them to gradually expand their influence.
Many Knights and Wizard Apprentices, in their blind pursuit of power, were tempted into consuming the Demon Potion and became followers of Ah Beipu.
Among them, those with poor compatibility with the Demon Potion became the Demonized.
Those with good compatibility, after fully digesting the potion’s energy, would become Demon Cultivators and begin to awaken their earth-elemental Magic abilities.
Once a sufficiently devout Demon Cultivator had accumulated enough merits, they would be granted Dark Well Water by the cult’s leadership. After consuming it, they would be promoted to the rank of Frenzied Drinker.
Within the hierarchy of Ah Beipu’s followers, Frenzied Drinkers were already considered mid-level leaders.
Above them in the core leadership were the Priests and Bishops.
Watching the soldiers lead the heretics away around the corner, Fan He’s expression turned grim. "It looks like the encirclement operation is about to begin."
He turned to Pei Ze and Gu Lin. "For the next two days, it’s best not to practice any more Magic. Conserve your Spiritual Power and build up your strength."
Pei Ze and Gu Lin exchanged a look and nodded grimly.
After parting ways with Fan He and Gu Lin, Pei Ze didn’t stay to watch Su Ya and Peng Yan train, instead turning back toward his quarters.
Back in his quarters, the moment he walked through the door, he saw Wuyu lounging by the window, sunbathing. Xiaoyi was grooming its feathers, a fawning smile on her face. She chirped every so often, as if asking if Wuyu was satisfied.
A look of astonishment crossed Pei Ze’s face.
After they moved into the garrison, Xiaoyi’s mischievous nature quickly became irrepressible. For the past two days, she had been pulling all sorts of pranks, teasing the poor soldiers and making their lives utterly miserable.
It had gotten to the point where an officer from the City Guard Army had to seek out Pei Ze and beg him to get Xiaoyi under control. Only then did Pei Ze ground her and assign Wuyu to keep an eye on her.
He had to admit, the tactic was very effective.
Xiaoyi had always been a little afraid of Wuyu, terrified that one day Wuyu might "eat" her just as it had the crows. As a result, she had been on her best behavior all day yesterday.
But he never expected her to act so out of character today. The little one was actually fawning over Wuyu.
’Has she had a change of heart?’
Pei Ze shook his head and chuckled, letting the two little ones be. He walked over to his desk, sat down, took out a book, and began to read.
He called it reading, but it was actually scanning.
The Eye of Omniscience was completely fused with Pei Ze’s soul. Any knowledge it scanned and recorded would be transmitted directly into his mind, as if being poured in.
This method allowed him to permanently memorize information in a single pass.
Unlike others, he didn’t need to constantly review old knowledge to commit it to long-term memory.
It was a perfect photographic memory—a power of the Eye of Omniscience in no way inferior to its abilities of analysis and improvement.
Although Wizards’ bodies were developed to the point where their cognitive and mnemonic abilities far surpassed those of ordinary people, they still couldn’t achieve a truly eidetic memory.
This was especially true for high-level Wizards, as the body of knowledge they needed to memorize grew ever more vast and complex.
A Wizard might be able to perfectly recall small amounts of information, but when faced with a veritable ocean of knowledge, they could only resort to memorizing and understanding it step by step.
Knowledge was the source of a Wizard’s power, but it was also the shackle that held them back from breakthroughs.
Without sufficient knowledge, a Wizard would struggle to master Magic and various metamagic techniques, or to craft potions, puppets, and Magic Items.
Even Pei Ze, who possessed the Eye of Omniscience, was no exception; he too had to absorb knowledge from books.
After all, at its current stage, the Eye of Omniscience was not yet truly all-knowing. It still required a foundation of knowledge to perform its analysis and improvements.
Pei Ze could, of course, use the Eye of Omniscience to create a new form of Magic from scratch, but the time required would be astronomical.
Even the All-Knowing Meditation Technique was an upgrade based on the Universal Meditation Technique. It wasn’t created from nothing.
For this reason, Pei Ze always kept a number of books in his dimensional bag, all of which he had paid to borrow from the library. Whenever he had a spare moment, he would take them out to "flip through."
It was worth noting that ever since returning from the Realm of Truth, Pei Ze had discovered a marked improvement in his cognitive abilities and memory. His Meditation efficiency had also increased significantly. He suspected this was the "aptitude improvement" Yin Xue had spoken of.
Seeing Pei Ze begin to read, Xiaoyi sensibly stopped her fooling around, and the room quickly fell silent.
He read until dusk.
Pei Ze closed the book, stretched lazily, and stood up to find something to eat.
The garrison had a chef specially assigned to cook for the Wizard Apprentices, but Pei Ze felt the food couldn’t compare to his own cooking.
Before arriving at the garrison, he had specifically made a number of sandwiches and stored them in his dimensional bag. He’d been eating them to get by for the past two days.
Afterward, he fed nectar to Xiaoyi and Magic Stone Coins to Wuyu.
By the time he was finished with everything, the sky outside was already growing dim.
Pei Ze was just wondering whether he should continue reading or practice his Cultivation Breathing Technique that evening when a deep, resonant voice suddenly echoed in his mind.
"All Wizard Apprentices, assemble in the command hall immediately!"
’A Communication Skill!’
A jolt went through Pei Ze. He knew the encirclement operation was finally about to begin.
