Chapter 80: Chapter 73: Tonight is a Bountiful Night

Only Pei Ze remained perfectly calm and composed.

He scanned the crowd of Demon Cultivators, a faint, unexpected smile on his face.

"Three at their peak, two high-level, three mid-level, and four low-level, plus more than a dozen Demonized. A total of 426 merit points."

"Not bad. More than I expected."

"Looks like tonight will be a bountiful harvest."

At Pei Ze’s words, not only Su Ya and Peng Yan but even the heretics were taken aback.

Soon enough, though, the heretics snapped out of it. Their faces darkened, and their gazes turned utterly vicious.

’This damned brat! Where does he get off acting so confident, like he’s already got us in the bag?’

Su Ya’s expression was a sight to behold.

’She didn’t understand how Pei Ze could still be so composed. Could he have another ace up his sleeve?’

"For a mere Third-level Wizard Apprentice, you talk awfully big."

A cold glint flashed in the scar-faced Demon Cultivator’s eyes, his killing intent now completely unconcealed.

"Let’s see if you’re still talking so tough in a minute!"

"Kill them!"

At the scar-faced Demon Cultivator’s command, the heretics, who could barely contain themselves, instantly lunged forward, charging at Pei Ze and his companions with vicious sneers.

Su Ya and Peng Yan tensed, raising their weapons to fight back.

But Pei Ze reacted faster than them. He flung up his right hand, and in a flash, light coalesced at his fingertips. Ten motes of starlight suddenly shot forth. They grew as they flew, and in the blink of an eye, they swelled into ten fist-sized Magic Missiles, hurtling in an overwhelming barrage toward the Demon Cultivator at the front of the charge.

The Demon Cultivator never imagined Pei Ze could cast Magic so instantaneously, with no warning whatsoever. Caught completely by surprise, he only had time to try and dodge aside.

But the next second, the ten Magic Missiles changed course as well, homing in on the Demon Cultivator with a piercing whistle and striking him with perfect accuracy.

PFFT! PFFT! PFFT!

A series of sickening, muffled impacts followed. Ten bloody holes instantly appeared on the body of the Demon Cultivator, who had the strength of a Senior Grand Knight. Blood sprayed in all directions. He didn’t even have time to scream before he collapsed, his face frozen in terror as he died.

"Silent Casting!"

The scar-faced Demon Cultivator’s expression changed to one of sheer horror as he stared at Pei Ze.

’A Third-level Wizard Apprentice has mastered a metamagic technique like Silent Casting?!’

’Just who is this kid?’

He had no time to dwell on it. Seeing starlight gather at Pei Ze’s fingertips once more, the scar-faced man’s expression twisted, and he accelerated his charge toward Pei Ze.

The other heretics finally reacted as well. This Wizard Apprentice was clearly not as easy to deal with as they had anticipated. If they continued to look down on him, they might well suffer an ignominious defeat. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

And so, with grim determination, they all accelerated their charge toward Pei Ze.

Su Ya finally snapped out of her shock from watching Pei Ze instantly kill the Demon Cultivator. Seeing the renewed charge, her expression changed slightly, and she immediately yelled a command.

"Protect the Master!"

Peng Yan grunted in affirmation and was about to move forward with Su Ya to cover Pei Ze.

But they had only taken a few steps forward when a wisp of black energy suddenly shot out from Pei Ze’s wrist, flying like an arrow toward the approaching heretics.

Beneath the night sky, the wisp of black energy multiplied—from one to ten, ten to a hundred, a hundred to a thousand... In less than a single breath, thousands of crows filled the street.

The densely packed crows swarmed together, forming a black torrent that blotted out the sky as it swept toward the heretics.

In that moment, it was as if every inch of the street had been dyed a deep, abyssal black.

At this sight, the heretics all went pale.

They scrambled to a halt, trying to dodge, but it was too late. The next instant, the black torrent descended with a ROAR and engulfed them all!
