Leo and Snow were talking about what could be the reason behind Jamal acting this way. However, looking at the time, they realized that the man should be handing his shift over at the moment so they could not talk to him. However, they could interview the people who had been working around him to find out if they know anything about him. This was easier said than done.

These men responsible for security of the VIPs were not simple, they were veterans who have worked in the military and faced the dangers of the frontlines. They had a strict code of honor and loyalty, after all these things saved their lives in danger, so they would never speak ill of their comrades unless it was a betrayal towards the code itself, they would not reveal anything to outsiders and handle it themselves.

Leo thought for a bit and said, "Kyle, you take the boys and get some rooms in the hotel nearby. We will reimburse it all."

The young man nodded and then he was about to get out of the house when Leo said, "You better not leak this to my assistant lest she finds me for not treating you good. I will dock your fucking bonus."

Kyle flinched and the rest of the people stifled their own laughter as they walked out. Snow looked at his back and said, "Love, did you need to embarrass him like this?"

Leo chuckled and replied, "It is just a joke, don’t worry."

Snow nodded and then she looked at Bailey, "Can you call over the security chief for this shift over?"

Bailey nodded and left in a hurry, she knew that something was going on in the house, the air was just that stifling. Snow looked at Leo and said, "I will try to find out the reason, but incase I fail, do the digging. Also, where are the kids, I don’t see them."

Leo looked around and said, "Lily said she was going to paint her room, and probably is occupied by that, as for the twins, well Alpha is looking after them for the day, so we can relax. I was thinking that having Alpha look after the kids for one day per week is fine, it will give us some time that we need to handle the grown-up shit."

Snow nodded but then she said, "I feel like your language has become rather crass since you have come here, what is going on? What if Lily picks up something and says it to the people? Do you want her to be named as a bad child?"

Leo sighed and he rubbed his forehead before he apologized for his mistake as he said, "I apologize, but it was not intentional, these days, staying here away from home is kind of hard. Then you are so busy that you don’t have time for even yourself let alone me or the kids. I know that you want to do good, but calling you and listening to your assistant is rather annoying to me."

Snow smiled as she looked at him. She knew that he was genuinely upset and annoyed that he could not reach out to her directly when she was at home, but that was not the only thing, he was upset because she was working too hard. She could not say anything to him, because he was coming from a place of love.

Just then a stalwart man walked in and stood across them. Snow looked at him and asked, "Melvin, have a seat."

The man nodded, he was gazing at Leo and for some reason, the calm visage of the young man made him unsettled. Melvin sat down and Snow asked, "Melvin, you are someone who comes with the recommendation of the Secretary of Defense, so I am sure that he saw something in you that the rest of the people didn’t have."

Melvin nodded gently and Snow continued, "In the morning, my husband had told Jamal that our private security team would be coming over and that they were to be received with respect. Following the protocol to check them is not a problem, but Jamal restricted them from entering the house. Those men traveled all night long and they were made to stand outside in the lawn till my husband came home and personally let them in. Is this normal?"

Melvin had no idea what he should say, but then he did speak up after a brief pause, "Ma’am, Sir, I know that it might sound like Jamal has some problem with his conduct but he is an exemplary officer from the crops and the only thing that the people complain about him is how he is a stickler for rules. Even when some of the senior command people wanted him to relax, he would not let it go. Maybe that is causing this friction. I cannot think of anything else."

Leo looked at the man kindly and asked, "We are not asking you about what you think, Melvin. If Jamal really is incapable of following direct orders, then what is the guarantee of him protecting my wife, if something were to go wrong? Why was he not dismissed from the military because of this? Or even a suspension must have been there, but his file is so clean that even my mirror feels ashamed. So, tell me, what is the real deal here, or I would have to do my own investigation and then I will drag down everyone involved in this cover up."

Yes, Leo had a notorious reputation among the people involved in the political galore. He had uncovered many corrupt officials and even the peons in the department were not spared. Thinking about this, Melvin gulped a small mouthful and said, "Sir, all I know is that his uncle was someone who sat at a high chair in the Military Administration, a rank of a general and that is all."

Leo raised his brow and sighed before he replied, "I see, it seems that the person retired and that was why Jamal was reduced to protection detail. Here he is still acting like he is following rules, but in truth, he is just using the rule book to establish a dominion of his in the house."

Snow nodded in agreement, and after taking a few moments, she said, "How about we dig it up and bury them?"

Leo shook his head and said, "I will talk to him tomorrow morning."

Snow nodded and then she took out her feet from the water as it has turned cold, then he took out the towel from the side, and then cleaned up her feet before he said, "Go freshen up, I will come up with dinner."

Snow left and Melvin stood up, but Leo gestured for Melvin to stand up, and said, "Inform me when you handover the shift in the morning."

Melvin nodded, and then he left the place. The young man sighed, and then said, "Miss Bailey, can you please send the food upstairs? She looks rather tired."

Bailey nodded and followed his words, Leo headed to check on his children, the twins have been tucked in, and were sleeping peacefully, and the since the system didn’t punish him, it was clear that they had not been missing him. That was a relief, and then he went to the side room and found that Lily had also finished her painting, and was cleaning the room.

He walked in and said, "Lily, go and keep your Ma awake for the dinner, I will clean this up."

Lily nodded and then she left the room, but not before turning around at the door and saying, "Baba, I love you."

Leo smiled, and said, "I love you too, my darling."

Lily left the room with a smile on her face, while the young man cleaned up the paint stains all around the place quickly before heading to his own room, where he found Lily and Snow snuggling together as they lay in the bed, and they were both half asleep already. He sighed, and sat down beside Snow and said, "You take this soup before you sleep or I will not talk to you."

Snow opened her eyes and sighed as she asked, "Is it necessary to eat? Can’t I just go to bed?"

Leo shook his head and fed her with a spoon before patting her back as if she was a child, and then Snow pushed him away gently and hugged Lily to sleep.

The young lady said, "You can go and sleep on the couch tonight, I want to be with my daughter."

Leo sighed and shook his head as he changed into a more comfortable clothing and headed to the study room, he had a meeting to attend and discuss what things to bridge the gap between the people in the society. He sat in front of the computer and promptly at the time they had decided the meeting began.
