Zara

’Forget it, we will handle it later.’ Nova rolled her eyes.

’But I am curious who he is, Marcus?’ I said to Nova.

’Obviously, it is Marcus. I am afraid this time Alpha killed him.’ Nova chuckled.

’Agree, it means he is back.’ We are on the same page. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

My thoughts were interrupted by the doorbell. Ryan and Sophia must be here. I quickly closed the phone and gave a tight smile before rushing to the door and opening it.

Ryan and Sophia burst into the room with unfading smiles.

"Zaraaaa." Sophia hugged me enthusiastically, holding a box of chocolates.

I hugged my best friend back tightly, a pleasant feeling, as if I felt relief.

Ryan was next, holding takeout boxes.

"How are you, sis?" he asked, his bright eyes shining with love for me.

"Good and happy, now that you’re both here." It was true: I missed them, and since that stalker had just sent me that ominous message, I was thrilled they had arrived.

"You sent Alpha Blue for us." Ryan’s eyes nearly bulged with excitement, and I knew he was on edge.

I had to stifle a chuckle. "Yes, Alpha Kane lent me this for your trip. I told him it was your dream car."

"Idiot, we’ll talk again, and tomorrow I’ll thank Alpha in person." Ryan squeezed my shoulders impatiently before entering deeper.

Keysir brought their luggage while they settled on a chaise lounge.

"Thank you, Kaysir. Stay for dinner," I offered.

He waved his hands. "No, no, Miss Zara. Your brother has already bought me dinner. I’ll eat in my room, let me know if you need anything," he said respectfully.

"Okay." Closing the door, I rushed to Ryan and Sophia.

"So, come on stage. I’m so happy to see you on stage." She grabbed my hands and practically danced on the chaise lounge with excitement.

"Yes! Let’s pray I don’t trip and make a fool of myself."

"You’ll be perfect. I do not doubt it." He pointed his index fingers at me and winked.

"Great. Why don’t you both get ready, and I’ll serve dinner," I suggested.

They both agreed and went to their rooms. Sighing, I stood up and started setting the table. My thoughts returned to the text, but I put it aside for now. I didn’t want to ruin my mood because of some idiot.

I took the fish out of the air fryer, and it was ready. After serving it with the fast food Ryan brought, I sat down and waited.

They returned, looking refreshed. Both had changed into their nightgowns.

Ryan raised his head and took a deep breath. "The fish smells nice. Did you cook it?"

"Yes!" I replied, gesturing to chairs so they could both sit.

"Oh, my sister started cooking. How sweet," Ryan teased deliberately, knowing I’d never been much of a cook.

"Life teaches you a lot. You should try it too." I nudged him.

"Nope! He’ll always live with his dad and chef," Sophia chirped, taking a French fry and popping it into her mouth.

"Haha! You’re so funny, Sophia. I live in the university dorms and only see my family on weekends," Ryan snorted, narrowing his eyes.

"What a sad life poor Ryan has." Sophia leaned forward and grabbed his nose, tugging it.

"Stop! Sophia, don’t drag this out. I still need to find a girlfriend."

"Stop it, both of you. Let’s eat," I scolded, shaking my head. When will they grow up?

"Okay, okay."

I put fries and two slices of Hawaiian cheese pizza on the plate.

They each took a piece of spicy fish and the tamarind sauce I’d made.

"Delicious, your culinary skills are improving," He said, taking a bite. His dark hair adorned his forehead.

"Thank you. I’ll be heading to the office early tomorrow because I have rehearsals and other important matters with the CEO. You have passes, so be on time. And please don’t burn down my apartment while I’m gone," I explained, taking a bite of the cheesy goodness of the pizza.

"I’ll keep an eye on him." Sophia winked, and Ryan just rolled his eyes.

After dinner, they both helped me clean up while we chatted. We brewed hibiscus tea and enjoyed it with cookies.

The aroma of the tea and the sweet taste of the cookies were a wonderful combination. It reminded me of home. We relaxed on the lounge chair, and they told me family jokes.

"What’s in the fridge?" Sophia’s parents were so funny, I loved listening to their stories.

"They’re both amazing," I laughed out loud.

We shared a few more memories. Memories of our past.

"Remember when Sophia lost her favorite shoe in the river when we were on vacation? She cried for hours," Ryan recalled, and we both smiled.

"And you brought me cotton candy and hand-picked flowers. That finally made me smile," Sophia added with a slight smile; her eyes glazed over, and I realized she was reliving the memory.

"You made everyone’s eardrums bleed. I had to do something." He shrugged, putting down his cup.

She picked up the pillow from her lap and threw it at him. He caught it easily and grinned. My heart warmed at the sight of them both like that.

Ryan stretched, yawned slightly, and stood up.

"See you in the morning, girls. Now, sleepy ones. Goodnight." He waved and went into the guest room.

"Goodnight, little brother."

As soon as the guest room door closed, Sophia turned her attention to me with a hint of mischief. "Come on, tell me everything about Alpha."

Oh! Sophia, I had so much to tell her. I knew we’d gossip all night.

"Well, that’s how it was..."

Sophia and I fell asleep for quite a while after I told her about Alpha Kane and how things were going with Alpha.

She was still asleep when I woke up to go to the office. After a quick breakfast, I left the apartment and headed to the office.

Kaysir was waiting for me. He opened the door, and I slipped inside, buckling up.

We started walking, and my gaze fell on the huge billboards our company had erected for the winter gala.

The company logo flashed red and white on the huge screens, and I already sensed that the event would be spectacular.

All the city’s media outlets, celebrities, and executives from other companies had been invited to the winter gala. Orders will undoubtedly pour in after today.

We arrived at the office, and to my surprise, Devilish Alpha was waiting for me, his hands in his pockets.

My heart sank at his disheveled appearance. His appearance slightly stunned me as I stepped out of the car and walked toward him.
