Chapter 544: The Knights of the Dawn Cross Return

A sleek jet streaked across the sky, travelling at the speed of sound towards Anbord. It travelled so fast that hordes of void-born scattered around couldn’t keep track of it.

Inside the jet was Regnare and his crew, the Knights of the Dawn Cross. They’d completed their mission of helping the elven empire, Alfheim, to defend against the void creatures and also establish an unofficial alliance with the empire.

That was what they were supposed to do, and they executed it... Exceptionally. They had been invited to stay when they heard the loud explosion, followed by an angered roar. And then they witnessed a battle of insane proportions: one serpent against two true dragons. From the sheer magnitude of the battle, they could tell that it wasn’t some projection or illusion; not when they could literally feel the tremors in the space around them. Even the shockwaves from the battle hit them and erased hundreds of void creatures.

And Regnare... He had never been so proud to be a Kael’Dri at that moment. That was his mother, engaged in an epic battle with two dragon rulers, and she decimated them as if they weren’t Saints. The way the battle had ended would make one think the dragons were weak, but beings who were in the Emperor Realm and beyond could tell that those dragons could lay waste to cities in seconds. In fact, just one dragon could pose a huge threat to any kingdom or empire.

If they’d attacked Alfheim, it would have ended with a lot of casualties, even if the dragons were defeated. This battle had further solidified Anbord’s strength and power. If just one of the fifteen empresses could take on two dragon rulers and come out unscathed, what could the other empresses do?

And what was more shocking was that, despite the power and destruction they caused, Anbord remained untouched. That kind of scenario was only possible if she had an insane level of control, or someone was protecting the whole empire, which was more than half of Debranlith. Their expeditions to wipe out the void-born, together with the integration of Old Gassendi, Fenrir, and Helheim, had earned Anbord a very large portion of the world.

In simpler words, Anbord was the most powerful empire in the world in terms of population and geography, and now the world had witnessed a glimpse of their strength, making people question the legends and stories of the dragons.

If one person, a woman who had recently given birth, could take down two dragon rulers, then what was there to be scared of again? Dragons were overrated.

Besides, everyone was well aware that the dragons attacked first, making them start judging the dragons for useless pride, arrogance, and envy. Fafnir received the most criticism.

But that was all unnecessary to the speeding jet. Regnare had commanded them to return immediately. If Harley had gotten involved, then it meant that the family had been attacked, and looking at the direction from which the battle took place, it was very close to the Kael’Dri Estate, meaning that the dragons had attacked the empire from behind, from the south, and had chanced upon the estate, making Harley intervene and end them.

"Well, I can’t say I’m surprised. It is something very typical of master," Onyx replied with a chuckle of her own.

"Shouldn’t you be calling him father-in-law or father?" Regnare asked Onyx with a questioning look.

"Reg... He is my master. I haven’t earned th..."

"You are going to be my wife. That is more than enough for you to call him father."

"I was a spirit beast before I became your lover."

"Dad won’t mind."

"Maybe..."

"Maybe? You’ve been with him the longest. You are a part of him, so you know him more than me. And you know that he doesn’t care if even a mere citizen calls him by his first name. If he can allow me to be his son and the Imperial Prince of the empire, when I’m not of his true blood... that was some time ago, but that’s not the case. "Sometimes, I wonder why you are my best friend?" Rhask commented from behind Regnare, making him scowl.

"Repeat it, and I will throw you off the jet..." Regnare threatened, making Rhask raise his hands in surrender.

"I’m just saying. The cold, Regnare looked cool, but this one is cooler. Just that you managed to surpass me... Now I have to get a girl too."

"How does that relate to me?"

"You don’t realize the standard you set for us, do you?"

[Alright, team! We are landing in fifteen seconds. Strap on your seatbelts tight]

The jet tilted and descended after fifteen seconds, shooting down like a missile. It soon descended into the atmosphere of Anbord, straightened, and flew towards the hangar. In no time, the jet reached the hangar and descended slowly onto the pad.

Regnare stood up from his seat, smiled at his team, and said.

"Finally, we are back home, but we are not done with our mission yet. We have war, and the Knights of the Dawn Cross will continue their mission!"

His statement earned him praises and a few laughs as everyone prepared to leave. Nyarelle opened the doors of the jet, and everyone got out... To meet Ethan, seated on a bench in a red tracksuit with his hair tied in a bun, and wearing sunglasses, smiling at them.

All of them thought the same thing at the same time.

Is this man aware of the situation at hand?!

"I heard that..." Ethan said as he stood and walked towards them. "Welcome back."
