Chapter 1026: The Chain of Events Had Begun
The Libation Fiesta stayed in Absalom for the next six months.
Clovis needed time to find the person crucial to his plan. While waiting, they focused on building up their strength.
Thanks to these six months of intense hunting, Rin and Aileen managed to reach Tier 8.
This way, the Libation Fiesta had four Tier 8 humans. Aileen’s role would be crucial for the next mission, so Clovis wanted Aileen to have the power to accomplish the mission.
Luci was already close to Tier 8 as well, but it would still take a few more months before she could reach that stage. Fortunately, Clovis’ food was able to support their growth.
With more people reaching Tier 8, more food could be focused on the rest of the Tier 7 members.
Of course, he didn’t neglect their individual training. With the clear suggestion from Ezekiel, they used the hunts to polish their skills even more.
The news about Clovis’ paintings had died down after so many months, but it still became one of the most sought-after items.
Because no one had found the thieves, they wondered if Clovis lied about his paintings being stolen. No one could really confirm it, but it was clear that the possibility was there.
Nevertheless, the Melesviet family took this opportunity to slander the Libation Fiesta or the Hacfield family, saying they were incompetent or liars.
Clovis had been ignoring him the whole time, and it looked like the time to repay him for everything he had said had come.
With the rumors gone and the world calmed down, people started to think that they had entered an era of peace.
Unfortunately, Clovis had two big problems aside from the special tower. Because they had become allies, the Three Swords and the RAID were being targeted. They managed to handle it somehow, but if they got pushed around too much, they might end up getting swallowed by their enemies.
That was why Clovis had to do something big to direct their attention back to him.
The second problem was the Dark Moon Mercenary. After Vina left this group, Stefany was in charge of both smaller groups.
Obviously, she planned to win with the strength of two groups, but the other successor didn’t plan to go down easily. There was a chance he would invite big masters from the outside.
The Dark Supreme wanted to stop him, but he couldn’t make his move as he was the one who had set up the rule of succession.
If he showed favoritism, his subordinates might choose to leave because they couldn’t follow leaders without integrity. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Hence, Clovis had to solve this problem by properly backing Stefany. The problem would be the people that the other successor planned to invite.
Stefany was trying to figure out the names, but during that time, she requested Clovis stand by.
Clovis started to worry because the Prophet might choose to use the Dark Moon Mercenary. There was a chance the Prophet also figured out that the Dark Moon Mercenary was the Hacfield family’s ally.
So, Clovis had to remain on guard.
Clovis could focus on dealing with the first problem while waiting for the second problem to play out.
During the six months, Clovis had retaken two more fallen cities. The president was happy that they could proceed with the restoration, but there was a strain in their cash flow.
To reconstruct a city, they required a huge amount of capital. With the addition of the city that they had retaken before the vacation, Clovis needed the capital to reconstruct three cities at the same time.
Hana alone wouldn’t be enough to handle this massive capital. So, Hana was trying to figure out the solution. In the worst-case scenario, they might have to invite the Sky Group, her grandfather’s company, to help with the capital.
Still, the situation didn’t look that worse, so Clovis continued with his original plan.
Vina finally found a clue after six months of searching. Without wasting their time, Clovis started sending out fakes to confuse people about where he was planning to go.
This meeting needed to be concealed, at least until the plan began. Fortunately, Vina and the Ghost were more than capable of handling this problem.
Finally, seven months after the vacation, Clovis felt ready to begin his plan.
...
"With this, we’ll be able to take down the other company." A man in his forties laughed, looking at his screen. He had just received a report that he could expand the company by taking over his rival.
It was time to rejoice, but the door was suddenly opened from the outside.
"!!!" The man was startled and raised his vision, but he couldn’t see anyone.
What actually happened was Aileen opening the door casually. She had erased her presence entirely, wearing gloves and other things to ensure that not a single trace could be found.
She then walked toward the man who was only a Tier 2. As the leader of the company, he wasn’t required to be powerful. There were plenty of bodyguards, but even the Tier 6 bodyguards he had wouldn’t notice Aileen, who had reached Tier 8.
Aileen didn’t say anything and walked to the back of the man.
"Emma?!" The man shouted his secretary’s name to close the door. He wondered if the door was broken, so he planned to get a replacement.
Unfortunately for him, the man’s throat was suddenly slit without him realizing it. When the pain jolted his mind, his consciousness had already begun to fade.
"Yes, sir?!" Emma, the secretary, took a peek inside, only to find her boss dead. "Kyaaaaa!"
She screamed in horror while opening the door wide as she couldn’t believe what had just happened. She could hear her boss’s laughter earlier, so it didn’t make sense for her boss to die.
However, they had just taken down their opponent, so it wouldn’t be weird to think it was revenge.
Nevertheless, Aileen took the chance to walk away. She didn’t increase her pace as if there was no one who could sense her.
She slipped past everyone who came to check and headed to the rooftop before disappearing.
The mission had been completed.
