Chapter 88: Chapter 88: Like a Demon from Hell

Xie Ning flung a Metal Spike, piercing the large padlock on the conference room door.

With a CLATTER, the large padlock fell to the ground.

"Open the door!" Xie Ning forcefully tightened the metal ring wrapped around Chen Jiajia.

Helpless, Chen Chong gritted his teeth and charged forward, hammering a dent into the conference room door with a single punch.

The door swung inward, and the dozen or so zombies crowded at the entrance were swept aside by the force of the Power Ability User’s punch, staggering and collapsing to the ground.

Wang Zongxuan leveled his air gun and shot several zombies in the head.

The modified lead pellets were somewhat effective against Initial-stage zombies, but that was the extent of it.

"AHHH!" The people who had been trapped in the conference room scrambled back, trying to flee for their lives.

Xie Ning kicked Director Shen squarely in the ass. "Director, you’re a Speed Ability User. Leading these zombies on a little run shouldn’t be a problem for you, right?"

The girl’s smile was like that of a demon crawling out of hell, and her eyes held a chilling glint.

Shen Wei gritted his teeth. Seeing several zombies lunging at him, he spun around and bolted.

The moment he fled, the vice-principal and the others who had been crowded near the door also broke into a mad dash.

Xie Ning pushed open the door to a smaller meeting room nearby, dragging Chen Jiajia inside with her mother and Wang Zongxuan.

As they shut the door, they saw dozens of zombies pour out of the main conference room, all excitedly chasing after Director Shen and his fleeing group.

The mother-daughter pair had hoped to get inside, pounding on the door a few times. When Xie Ning’s group didn’t react at all, they had no choice but to run after Director Shen and the vice-principal, crying and screaming.

The only one who hadn’t run was Chen Chong. Wielding two broken table legs, he was furiously bashing in the heads of the remaining zombies.

As an Initial Stage Power-type Superpower User, Chen Chong was the only one in their pathetic group who could actually fight and take a hit.

For the past two days, he had been the de facto leader of this hastily formed team.

Now, seeing his team scattered to the winds, it was clear they were done for. Chen Chong seethed with rage.

Most of the zombies had chased after the large group in the chaos. A Power-type Superpower User would have no problem dealing with the few stragglers left behind.

Xie Ning, her mother, and Wang Zongxuan waited impassively for Chen Chong to finish off the last of the zombies before opening the door to the small meeting room and stepping out.

"Can you let my daughter go now?" Chen Chong demanded, his face a mask of fury. "I already told you, Director Shen was the mastermind! He’s the one who got this padlock from the main lecture hall!"

Xie Ning paid him no mind. Keeping the metal ring around Chen Jiajia, she commanded, "Get in."

Chen Chong gritted his teeth in frustration, gripping the two table legs as he entered.

Xie Ning, her mother, and Wang Zongxuan followed them in. The sight of the chaotic conference room made their hearts sink.

The floor was littered with zombies, their heads smashed in. Severed limbs and pools of dark red blood covered the large conference table. All of it testified to the brutal, desperate battle that had taken place here.

A row of spotlights from the recessed ceiling lay shattered on the floor.

Xie Ning suddenly strode forward and gave a hard push on a small, hidden door next to a file cabinet.

The small door blended in with the dark-colored cabinets beside it. If not for the highly conspicuous bloodstains smeared on it, one would never have noticed it.

Song You’ai was filled with a mix of nervousness and joy. "This door... it’s a partition, isn’t it?"

"It’s a small pantry," Xie Ning said. She gave the door another hard push, then turned to Chen Chong. "Open it."

Chen Chong clenched his fists, strode forward, and smashed the small pantry partition door open with a single kick.
