Apocalypse - Infinite Resource System
Chapter 542: The Fourth Battle, Instant Annihilation
Waldo’s gaze was cold as he looked at the data and analyzed carefully.
"I must find a way to make them surrender voluntarily. The most important thing is to exert pressure!"
"The first and most crucial point is to brutally annihilate the challengers who come to the arena. It must be done quickly, showing everyone that I am invincible, and the Dawn team can easily exterminate any enemy."
"This will surely cause the challengers to lose their belief in defeating us and, faced with a 100% mortality rate, panic and fear will erode their will to fight."
"The second is verbal pressure."
"I must constantly hint to the challengers through my words that not surrendering poses a risk to their lives and that our Dawn team is unbeatable, that I am invincible... Through these suggestions, I want the challengers to give up and surrender voluntarily."
In just a moment or two, Waldo’s brain worked at high speed. Many ideas flashed through his mind. Then, he entered the chat channel and posted a message.
"All challengers, all team captains, please pay attention. The Dawn team is unbeatable. Do not try to contend with us for the ruler’s treasure. You do not have the strength, nor will you possibly obtain it. It’s not too late to surrender now. Once the system selects you and you come to the arena, the only thing waiting for you is death!"
"Make a prudent choice, do not delude yourselves!"
"I, Waldo, swear here that anyone who steps onto the arena will be my eternal enemy. I will tear you limb from limb, grind your bones to dust!"
...
Waldo’s words shattered many challengers’ delusions, intensifying the pressure they felt.
"What do we do? If we are carelessly selected by the system, once we enter the arena, we have no chance of survival! This is truly deadly!"
One of the challengers was trying to persuade their stubborn team captain who refused to give up.
"Yes, and also, captain, there are many teams stronger than us. Even if we win, what then? Can we actually guard the treasure?"
"Exactly! Even the nearly invincible Dawn team can’t protect the treasure, so how can we? With our limited strength, there’s absolutely no way we can guard it!’ ’Captain! Don’t be stubborn anymore!"
"If we are selected, we only have death waiting for us!"
"Captain, our lives are more important!"
One by one, the team members tried to persuade their captain. The captain’s face showed immense conflict and pain. Finally, with a sigh of resignation and a nod of helplessness, he said, "Alright, we surrender!" After uttering these words, he slumped to the ground, drained of strength. In his bloodshot eyes, the unwillingness slowly dissipated, leaving only resignation.
...
Similar scenes were happening all over the chessboard world at this moment. With Waldo’s threatening words, many teams that were originally holding on to a sliver of hope, wavering in their decision, succumbed like camels broken by the last straw and chose to surrender.
In less than two minutes, the number of teams surrendering quickly surpassed four thousand, nearing five thousand, almost a third of them. Seeing this, Waldo was satisfied.
"Good, just need to eliminate the next batch of teams coming to the arena decisively, and more teams will be terrified into surrendering voluntarily." Waldo smirked slightly. In the next round, he planned to be even more ruthless and swift in eliminating his enemies. His aim was to instill fear and hopelessness in the other challengers so that they would naturally surrender.
...
[All challengers, please be aware, the system will soon randomly select teams to go to the arena to compete against the Dawn team for the title of seed team. All challengers, please be prepared!]
[Considering the overwhelming strength of the Dawn team and the significant gap with ordinary challenger teams, the system will now select four teams to go to the arena together.]
[Countdown begins: Ten, nine, eight... three, two, one!]
[Random selection complete, arrival imminent!]
As the system’s voice rang out, multiple figures appeared in the arena. The number was much larger than before: a total of four teams, twenty challengers! As they appeared, Waldo, who had been ready and waiting, swiftly made his move.
"Die!"
With a roar like the wrath of a god, thunderous and deafening, the entire arena, the entire ruler’s palace seemed to shake. But that wasn’t the most crucial part. The key was the surging energy, like a great river or a massive, dark wave, overwhelming everything in its path. In that instant, the twenty challengers felt utterly insignificant, utterly trivial.
A giant battle axe rose into the air, cutting through layers of surging energy like a meteor, and descended terrifyingly! Thunder roared around the battle axe, clinging to it. The newly arrived challengers, still bewildered, saw the terrifying blade, larger than a house, falling down. They paled, scrambling to defend or evade.
But the battle axe was unstoppable. Any defense was useless. Half of the arena was under the shadow of the axe; escape was impossible. There was nowhere to hide. And so, the following scene unfolded...
The challengers, faces filled with fear, screamed in terror as they were instantly beheaded. All of them died in an instant! Four teams, twenty challengers, did not withstand even a single blow in front of Waldo. They were annihilated as soon as they arrived! Terrifying!
...
"Haha!" Waldo let out a cold laugh, his breathing slightly rapid. To annihilate twenty challengers in one move, he too paid a certain price. However, the outcome did not disappoint him.
"They’re gone, all gone!"
"Four teams, twenty challengers, just like that???"
"They just got up there, and in less than half a minute, all were killed?!"
"This speed, isn’t it too fast? The previous three teams were killed in less than a minute, and now, four teams in less than half a minute, all wiped out!"
"How terrifyingly powerful is Waldo! This is way too scary!!!"
"We’re doomed, there’s no hope left. Waldo’s strength seems limitless, we’re only seeing the tip of the iceberg! One team, two teams, three teams, and now four teams together, it’s all the same outcome, instant annihilation!"
"Waldo... so terrifying!"
