Once it was upgraded to the next tier, it could function as a Steel Mother Empress—a mobile base.

It would be both Indestructible and armed with immense firepower.

Lin Feng felt a pang of regret, but his feet didn’t stop. He pushed directly into the depths of the Hive. Relying on the flashing blue-white light from the Magnetic Storm Bomb explosions and the detection from his Mind Sensing, he quickly locked onto the enemies’ location.

It turned out these Pulse War Scorpions hadn’t been on the Hive’s floor, but were instead clinging upside down to its ceiling.

No wonder he hadn’t received any kill notifications despite firing so many rounds from the Electromagnetic Cannon...

’So these guys were all hiding on the ceiling.’

However, the area-of-effect damage from the Electromagnetic Cannon’s magnetic storms had still reached them, interrupting the plasma compression charging in their abdomens. That was why they had stopped attacking. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

Seeing this, Lin Feng didn’t hesitate. He switched the Level 29 Electromagnetic Cannon in his hands to the Level 19 Grenade Cannon, then began wildly firing at the Pulse War Scorpions on the ceiling not far away.

The Grenade Cannon’s killing power wasn’t as great as the Armor-Piercing Cannon’s, but it was more than enough to break through the Armor on the Pulse War Scorpions’ abdomens.

Plus, while knocking them down, it would cause minimal damage to the Hive, unlike the Armor-Piercing Cannon, which would have drilled right through to the top and blown the entire structure apart.

Watching the Pulse War Scorpions fall to the ground and struggle to flip themselves over, he saw that some even had their abdomens blown open. Diluted, light-blue Ion Plasma spilled everywhere, burning through their already relatively weak Armor.

Lin Feng immediately leaped forward, swinging the Tiger-toothed Chainsaw Sword in his right hand to finish them off one by one.

There were five surviving Pulse War Scorpions in total.

As a result, the Tiger-toothed Chainsaw Sword gained five Upgrade Points.

After he was done, buried beneath the chunks of earth that had fallen from the ceiling, there were a total of seven Pulse War Scorpion corpses.

A complete victory, at last.

Confirming there were no other Tier Two Zerg Race members nearby, Lin Feng breathed a temporary sigh of relief and looked at the Tiger-toothed Chainsaw Sword in his hand:

Seeing that his Upgrade Points were maxed out, Lin Feng initiated a minor Upgrade for the Tiger-toothed Chainsaw Sword from Lv. 23 to 24, hoping for a new Extra Attribute.

He then walked over to the pile of corpses and began to study a Pulse War Scorpion up close.

The Pulse War Scorpion wasn’t very large. Excluding its raised Plasma Tail Cannon, its body was less than ten meters long. Its abdomen, however, was extremely thick, like an overweight, barrel-chested slob. Its pair of giant pincers were covered in sharp, whip-like hairs, and the serrations inside the claws were even more terrifyingly sharp.

’But,’ Lin Feng thought, ’these would be perfect for Shen Jie to try. He’s about to grow an extra pair of limbs, so I bet the meat inside tastes pretty good.’

After his inspection, Lin Feng used the Chainsaw Sword to slice open the Pulse War Scorpion’s abdomen, then stripped out the entire firing organ for the Plasma Cannon.

It ran from beneath its belly all the way up its tail.

A notification then appeared in Lin Feng’s vision:

The Plasma Tail Cannon really was a good item. Its destructive power was comparable to the Level 29 Electromagnetic Cannon.

Before Lin Feng reached Tier Three, its usefulness was irreplaceable. Even if he used a Tier Jumping Upgrade on his Electromagnetic Cannon to a higher quality and made a Replica, it would still have the drawback of a limited effective range.

And if it were mounted on a Battleship or fused into an Orange Quality weapon, his forces would stand a fighting chance against a Mother Empress attack, even if he had to leave on his own.

The Plasma Cannon was especially useful for its wide magnetic storm area-of-effect, which could effectively counter incoming aerial units.

With this in mind, Lin Feng raised his Chainsaw Sword, preparing to continue carving up the Pulse War Scorpion.

At that very moment, however, Lin Feng instinctively sensed a dangerous aura emerging from the depths of the darkness.

He immediately used his Mind Sensing, but it didn’t detect the tell-tale light of any Tier Two or higher lifeforms nearby.

Now on high alert, Lin Feng didn’t let his guard down. Instead, he pretended nothing was wrong and continued cutting into the Pulse War Scorpion at his feet, but his mind and every muscle in his body were stretched taut.

His finger was on the trigger of the Electromagnetic Cannon in his left hand. His right hand secretly charged up a swing with the Chainsaw Sword. And the Absolute Defense Form of his Flying Tiger Armor was ready to be activated at a moment’s notice.

Time passed, second by second, and it seemed as if everything was normal.

But in the next instant, from the dark depths of the Hive, on the ceiling directly behind Lin Feng’s head, a slender, lithe shadow nearly three meters long suddenly materialized!

The moment it appeared, it swung several sharp blades toward the back of Lin Feng’s neck!

It kicked off, launching itself straight at him!

But just as it was about to succeed, a powerful surge of Energy suddenly erupted from its target’s body, expanding outward until it engulfed the assassin’s form...

...and pinned it firmly in mid-air.

Having activated his Absolute Defense Form and entered a state of Bullet Time, Lin Feng spun around. He swung the Tiger-toothed Chainsaw Sword, using the momentum of his turn to unleash a horizontal slash that tore through the air with lightning speed!

It moved so fast that it created a sonic boom!

And as the tip of the sword slowly passed through the Energy Shield, the ambushing assassin was sliced clean in two by the Chainsaw Sword.
