Apocalypse Rebirth: Crazy from Day One
Chapter 215: A Wordless Meeting
When Gordon Ford looked over, he saw a man in his thirties wearing a T-shirt and holding a pistol. He was firing relentlessly in one direction. A few young men and women tried to stop him, but they were held back by others.
The target of the man’s gunfire...
Gordon’s gaze followed, and his pupils shrank.
"Head the boat in that direction." 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Gordon said coldly before returning inside the boat. The next moment, he produced a sniper rifle and aimed it at the man in his thirties.
Basil Xavier, who was standing to the side, looked over, his jaw dropping. But Gordon had already acted in one smooth motion, taking out the shooter.
"Did you have to be so..."
Basil Xavier said, a little shocked and uncertain. ’Gordon doesn’t seem like the type to meddle in other people’s business.’
He looked in that direction again—
And there, he saw a familiar figure.
Seeing her again after more than a year, Basil Xavier was momentarily dazed. He glanced at Gordon beside him. "No wonder you were so decisive. It’s Stella Sterling. That explains everything."
"But it looks like she’s in trouble."
A short distance away, the man had been shot in the head, shocking both his subordinates and the members of Caeluna.
Julian Fletcher, Seven Locke, and the others looked around warily. "There’s someone else here today."
They grew worried. The person behind the scenes also had a gun, and they didn’t know if they were friend or foe.
Stella Sterling glanced at the man who had fallen to the ground, then looked off into the distance. It was then she saw the person standing at the bow of the boat.
Her gaze lingered on him for a moment before she pulled it back and said to the others, "Finish off the rest of them. Quickly!"
But with their boss dead and so many of their comrades already cut down, the remaining men had completely lost their morale. They had no will to fight Stella Sterling and her group. The dozen or so survivors turned and fled.
When they saw the boat approaching in the distance, it was as if they had found a glimmer of hope, and they ran toward it. "Help! Save us!"
"Help! These people are monsters! They tried to rob us of the little we managed to scrounge up, and now they want to kill us because we wouldn’t let them!"
The men shouted, twisting the truth as they ran toward Gordon Ford’s boat.
Just then, the moment the boat reached the shore, Gordon Ford and Basil Xavier disembarked.
Following behind them were four tall men in uniform, each with a gun holstered at their waist.
The group radiated a chilling aura, and their steps were uniform and disciplined. One look was enough to tell they were no ordinary people.
Although the fleeing men weren’t sure if these newcomers would save them, they approached them anyway, deciding to take their chances.
The members of Caeluna caught up, but when they saw Gordon Ford and his men, they watched them warily, making no sudden moves.
These people gave them a sense of danger.
At that moment, Stella Sterling walked over, her gaze fixed on Gordon Ford, who stood a short distance away.
Seeing him again after three years, she found Gordon’s aura was even more reserved and cold, making him more inscrutable than before.
Just then, Gordon took two steps forward. Seven Locke and the others watched him warily, moving to block his path to Stella Sterling.
The men who had been begging Gordon for help had a flash of joy in their eyes.
When Basil Xavier saw their reaction, he nearly laughed out loud.
’It never occurred to them that their boss’s sudden death might have been our doing.’
At that moment, however, Gordon Ford’s gaze was on Stella Sterling. He raised the corner of his mouth into a slight smile. "Long time no see."
It had been three years. Stella Sterling seemed to have changed a lot, becoming even more different from the person in his memory.
She had the same face, but the aura about her had completely transformed.
What flashed through Gordon’s mind was the image of Stella effortlessly dodging bullets just moments ago.
And now, she was surrounded by her people, her high status among them obvious.
’She’s done well for herself these past three years. That’s good. Really good.’
Seeing that familiar face, that familiar smile, and hearing him say "Long time no see," Stella Sterling hesitated for a moment before returning a smile. "Long time no see."
Then she greeted Basil Xavier as well.
Basil Xavier smiled. "Tell me, why’d you leave without a word over a year ago? You were just going to leave without so much as a goodbye?"
"I thought something had happened to you. I even looked for you for a while."
At that moment, the smiles on the faces of the dozen or so men who had been pleading with Gordon all froze.
These two groups actually knew each other. Thinking back to how their boss had been inexplicably shot in the head, a cold sweat broke out on their skin. How could they not understand now? Their boss had been killed by these very people who had just appeared.
Without hesitation, the men scattered and fled in all directions.
But the four men behind Gordon raised their guns and shot them all down. Gordon took two steps forward and looked at Stella Sterling. "Your enemies?"
Stella Sterling nodded. "They tried to rob me, but they failed."
Seeing that the dozen or so men had all been dealt with, Stella Sterling didn’t spare them another glance.
Instead, she gave Gordon a somewhat strange look.
Though they had been apart for three years, Gordon seemed to feel no sense of unfamiliarity. His tone was as natural as ever. "Then they deserved to die."
Beside them, Basil Xavier turned to look at Gordon, opened his mouth, but ultimately said nothing.
’Gordon just took Stella’s word for it. That’s a very irrational thing to do.’
Hearing this, the members of Caeluna were puzzled. ’Who is this man? His relationship with our Sterling seems pretty complicated.’
When Stella Sterling heard Gordon say that, she was stunned for a moment, then let out a laugh. "You’re right. They did deserve to die."
She wiped the blade she had just used to cut down several men and sheathed it behind her back.
She looked at Gordon Ford and Basil Xavier. "And you? Where are you headed?"
Basil Xavier was about to speak, but Gordon had already answered, "We received intel that a professor is trapped in Ruvian. He has some very important data, so we’re going to rescue him."
Basil Xavier hadn’t expected Gordon to tell Stella Sterling something like that so directly. He slapped his forehead, at a loss for words.
Stella Sterling nodded. She usually considered herself a good talker, but at this moment, facing Gordon, she didn’t know what to say. It just felt a little awkward.
Especially with the way Gordon was looking at her—a gaze she couldn’t ignore even if she wanted to. Yet she couldn’t offer any response. After standing there for a moment, she said, "Three years into the apocalypse, and we’re both safe and sound. That’s good."
"My problem is solved, so I’ll be going now."
With that, she waved to her Caeluna members, gesturing for them to bring over the now-exhausted Black Swan, and prepared to leave.
But Gordon stepped in front of her, blocking her path. Stella Sterling frowned. "Is there something else?"
