Chapter 42: Go take care of your business

Smiling to herself, April decided to play around with her new privileges. Using the Custom Architecture feature, she swept her mind across the terrain.

With a simple thought, the flat, white floor began to shift. She manifested sleek, modern shelving, and got rid of the taki slot system so she could see with her own eyes all her resources, though they could not all he spread out so they still had a similar slot system where goods of the same product were tacked together and their numbers were pasted underneath the shelf.

For example, Where there was a single can of soya bean paste on the shelf, if there were originally over a hundred cans, the number hundred was displayed underneath the shelf. And if she took one out, the number reduced.

It wasn’t what she planned but it worked out well. The system was designed to be very organized.

Then she made a beautiful, designated lounge area. She spent a few blissful minutes mentally decorating the empty expanse, enjoying the sheer control she possessed over her own personal sanctuary.

It was like... making a home.

And only when she was satisfied with the luxury cabin she made did she let out a sigh of relief and leave the rest for another time.

Finally, her gaze drifted to the newly spawned Revitalization Spring. A small, pristine pool of crystal-clear water sat nestled in a beautifully formed stone basin.

The liquid hummed with a faint, spiritual energy, radiating a pure aura capable of cleansing any toxin and performing miracles.

She examined the pool’s modest diameter and twisted her lips.

’It’s a bit small,’ April noted. ’But it looks okay. I’ll try a dip of it when I get back to Xavier’s home.’

"Miss April," Samuel’s polite voice broke through her thoughts, calling her from just outside the car door as he leaned in slightly.

April’s lashes fluttered and her eyes opened, her spatial dimension instantly vanishing as the reality of the luxury sedan rushed back.

"Is there anywhere else you would like to go today?" Samuel asked, his tablet held perfectly in hand.

April thought about it for a moment. Now that she had custom architecture and a massive 100,000 cubic meter expanse, she desperately needed to start hoarding high-end appliances, solar generators, water filtration systems, and luxury furniture to build a literal nice little palace inside her space and also for her future safe house of course.

But looking out the window, the evening sun was already beginning to dip below the horizon, painting the sky in deep shades of orange and violet.

"No, we’ll handle the rest tomorrow," she decided smoothly. It was time to eat, and more importantly, it was almost time for the curtain to rise on Samuel’s tragic comedy.

They pulled up to an upscale, bi-level restaurant with large glass windows overlooking a scenic square.

Sitting at a corner table, April casually cut into a steak while keeping a sharp eye on Samuel. He was sitting opposite her, completely distracted, staring intensely at his watch and his phone.

The air of cool professionalism he usually wore was cracking, replaced by a nervous, quiet excitement.

April checked her own phone. She shouldn’t have to keep him by her side for long if the show was going to start.

"Samuel," April said, setting her fork down and wiping her mouth with a napkin. "You can head out now. I’ll be perfectly fine on my own for the rest of the night."

Samuel blinked, snapping out of his thoughts. He looked at her, surprised. "Are you sure, Miss April? Mr. Reed explicitly instructed me to stay by your side until you returned."

"I’m sure," she replied with a dismissive wave. "Go handle your personal business. It seems important."

Samuel hesitated for a fraction of a second, but the sheer urgency of his own plans won over. He stood up, bowing politely. "Thank you, Miss April. If you need anything at all, please do not hesitate to call."

The moment Samuel walked out of the restaurant, April’s lips curled into a wicked, highly anticipating smirk. She had absolutely no intention of going back to Xavier’s mansion. She was going to follow him like a shadow and watch every single second of the impending drama.

But just as she slid out of her booth to tail him, a shadow fell over her table.

"Well, look who it is. I thought I’d find you here."

April froze, her expression instantly turning deadpan as she looked up. Standing there, looking slightly disheveled but utterly unharmed, was Alexander Greels.

"What are you doing here?" April asked, her tone entirely unamused. "Aren’t you supposed to be hiding your grandfather?"

Alexander slid into the booth Samuel had just vacated, running a hand through his blonde hair.

"Xavier Reed’s team handled it flawlessly. He’s completely safe now." He said and though that should have been relieving, he looked a little troubled. "My uncle called me a few minutes ago. He sounded absolutely ecstatic, trying to sound casual while asking me to come over for dinner to catch up. I cut the call in his face, of course."

"Fascinating. Well, congrats on not getting murdered," April said flatly, grabbing her purse.

"Also, I brought the gold leaf matcha tarts," he said and her ear perked up, turning to look at the box she hadn’t noticed he had been holding in his hand.

She would love to try the famous expensive pastries right away but she decided against the temptation for now. She had a mission to accomplish.

"Alright, alright, thank you." She took it and it disappeared into her space, fascinating him. He had heard of it but he had never really seen it in person. Aside from her foresight, she indeed had other powers. "Now shoo. I am incredibly busy right now."

"Busy doing what?" Alexander asked, rising quickly to follow her as she strode out the door.

"I said shoo," she said but he was relentless and kept following.

"Look, I’m following you because I need to stay away from my family’s eyes right now." Alexander explained, not like she asked. "Anyone looking for me will check my usual spots. No one would think to look for me next to a mysterious seer. I don’t really have anything else to do anyway."

"Well, that’s unfortunate because I am not a babysitter for rich heirs," April snapped, walking briskly down the street, keeping her eyes locked on Samuel’s distant figure ahead.

Samuel had no idea he was being tailed because he was busy on his phone, making sure all his prior arrangements were in place so as to avoid disappointing his lover. He needed everything to be perfect.

"I can pay you for my presence," Alexander offered smoothly and April stopped for a second.

"Deal," she said and began walking again. "But shut up."

To April’s immense annoyance, Alexander kept a tight pace right beside her, completely ruining her solo stealth vibe.

He ended up following her all the way to an elite, open-air garden restaurant a few blocks away. It was a highly romantic venue, illuminated by soft fairy lights and surrounded by lush greenery.

Samuel had entered the venue and was currently standing near a beautifully set table in a semi-private corner.
