Apocalypse Transmigration - The Card Captor System
Chapter 9: the Apocalypse truck
The Apocalypse Truck
After Leo released the Epic Card, particles of light gathered around the street, and soon an Apocalypse Truck appeared in front of him.
Seeing the appearance of the truck made his eyes gleam with excitement.
Standing in the street was a large expedition truck. Its body was built on a heavy-duty cargo chassis, tall enough to roll over debris that littered the streets. The cab in front was ordinary except for a few reinforced steel bars protecting the windshield.
Behind it was a rectangular living compartment, roughly the size of a small room. Solar panels were mounted across the roof, while storage boxes and spare fuel cans were secured along the sides. A foldable ladder hung near the rear door, leading into what was essentially a mobile home.
The truck’s white paint had long been dulled by dust and grime, and several scratches marked its armored exterior. Despite its worn appearance, it looked sturdy and reliable—a vehicle built to travel long distances while carrying everything needed for survival.
Leo didn’t waste a single moment, opened the door to the truck, and went inside.
"Ding... System detected that Host has obtained an extraordinary vehicle...
Does the Host wish to bind this vehicle?"
"System, I don’t understand. What do you mean by binding the vehicle?"
"Host, after a vehicle is bound to you, only you or a person permitted by you can drive this vehicle."
Hearing about the function’s utility, Leo could immediately guess its usefulness.
"System, how should I bind this vehicle?"
"Host, put your Origin Card on top of the vehicle’s ignition switch."
Leo took out his Origin Card from his belt and placed it on top of the ignition switch.
Soon, the ignition switch changed. The key slot where the key was inserted disappeared, and a small display screen appeared in its place.
The screen displayed a green notification.
Curious, Leo placed his finger on the screen.
The screen lit up briefly, and the vehicle’s engine immediately came to life with a low rumble.
Now the screen displayed a red notification. He again pressed a finger on the screen, and the truck shut down its engine.
After that, he began inspecting the interior of the cabin.
Inside the cockpit, multiple screens displayed navigation, fuel levels, battery reserves, and external camera feeds.
Seeing the massive battery reserves reminded Leo that it was written on the Epic Card that the truck could be powered by both fuel and electricity.
Storage compartments filled every empty space above the windshield, while a radio system and emergency controls were mounted beside the driver’s seat.
After satisfying his curiosity about the cabin area, he looked back at the living area. The driver’s cabin was separated from the living area by a reinforced door.
Opening the door, Leo looked at the interior.
The interior was surprisingly comfortable. Warm wooden panels covered the walls and ceiling, making the truck feel more like a tiny apartment than a vehicle. A narrow sofa ran along one side beside a foldable table that could serve as both a dining area and workspace. Several overhead cabinets lined the ceiling, maximizing every inch of storage space.
Located along one wall, a compact kitchen occupied the left side of the compartment. It contained a small sink connected to a water filtration system, an electric induction stove, a miniature refrigerator, and several empty cabinets. Every drawer was equipped with strong magnetic locks. These locks probably kept the drawers shut while the truck was in motion.
Floor-to-ceiling shelves occupied the rear half of the truck. There were a lot of empty plastic containers. They were probably used to store supplies.
There was even a bed in the rear. The bed was elevated slightly above the floor, allowing additional compartments underneath. A small reading light hung from the ceiling.
Tucked into one corner was a compact bathroom containing a toilet, a foldable sink, and a simple shower. It wasn’t luxurious, but in a world where clean water and privacy had become rare commodities, it felt like a treasure.
Solar panels on the roof charged batteries hidden beneath the floor.
These batteries were what powered the lights, refrigerator, water purifier, ventilation system, and communication equipment.
Overall, Leo was very satisfied with the vehicle, which was going to become his home for a long time in this world.
