Armed Train in the Apocalypse
Chapter 646 - 383: Chaotic Battle_2
A pickup truck carrying four or five people shouting profanities sped down the concrete road in front of the brickyard, firing a few shots symbolically behind them as the headlights were about to reveal Su Huan’s position.
This should be another wave from the East City Association to draw enemy fire.
Thinking for a moment, Su Huan stepped back, hiding in the shadows.
"How can these bastards have such intense firepower?! Charge once more, I swear I don’t believe it!"
The Dragon Head tore off his tattered clothing, revealing a skin of iron-gray muscular flesh, much like workers who regularly carry cement bags, with his solid muscles exhibiting finger-sized bullet holes. With a slight exertion, two bullets were squeezed out.
Upon hearing this, the subordinates turned pale, exclaiming in shock, "Dragon Head, we’re just supposed to draw fire, not engage in a firefight!"
Just then, a subordinate drove by in a car, exclaiming in terror, "Run, those foreigners brought out the cannons!"
Hearing this, some clarity returned to Dragon Head’s mind, his reddened eyes showing a hint of retreat.
Coupled with the earnest persuasion of those around him, he finally agreed to escape by car.
Just as the front of the car took off, a cannon shell landed behind, smashing the concrete road and surrounding buildings to pieces with a boom.
"Turn! Turn! The road ahead is blocked!"
Amidst a burst of shouts, the vehicle sped along the concrete road near the brickyard. Thanks to Donghuang’s orderly architecture, the terrain wasn’t complex, and they quickly caught up with the fleeing subordinates ahead.
No sooner had everyone’s hearts settled than a cannon shell accurately landed in front, directly blasting two cars into the air.
A bearded white man stood atop a six-story building, tossing aside an empty rocket launcher and, with a short run-up, leaped from the rooftop!
"It’s a Tier Two Evolver! Run!"
A cold shout awakened Dragon Head and his men, and everyone came to their senses, but as the Evolver was about to land on the car roof, the next moment, the vehicle’s engine roared, charging out fiercely.
The Tier Two Evolver crashed onto the roof of another car, a hint of doubt in his deep blue eyes.
Then he and the vehicle below plunged headfirst into a nearby tin factory building.
"Right turn! Right turn! Fewer people over there!"
Whenever everyone was in a panic, a voice reminded them what to do.
Dragon Head’s muddled brain thought the advice made sense, immediately repeating, "Right turn!"
But ahead, they were blocked by a busted van. The voice angrily said, "These useless fools are blocking the Dragon Head’s path; they’re going to get us killed. With that Tier Two Evolver catching up, none of us will survive! Traitors! All traitors!"
The conviction in the voice won Dragon Head’s approval, immediately infuriating him against the subordinates ahead. He grabbed a light machine gun mounted on the roof and showered the van with bullets, leaving his subordinates wide-eyed.
One person felt something was amiss and looked for the source of the voice, only to be jolted by the vehicle, falling off the backseat of the pickup.
He only saw a row of grimly white teeth.
Under Dragon Head’s aggressive advance, soon no vehicle dared block their way. In fact, there weren’t many vehicles left, and intercepting Evolvers appeared ahead, their firepower fierce and their shooting precise. Whether rifle bullets or heavy machine gun rounds, they seemed to have eyes, leaving the East City Association members in distress.
Even Dragon Head’s vehicle had several casualties, leaving only the driver and Dragon Head.
"Not good, we’ve run into an ambush, the front is full of people!"
The voice spoke again.
Dragon Head’s eyes turned red, his muscles bulged, and he roared with his gun, "Let’s fight them!"
But as he jumped off the car, he was grabbed and pulled back by the arm, dumbfounded by the strength he felt, though his brain, like a congested freeway, couldn’t comprehend why.
"We go in the opposite direction and surprise them; we’ll catch them off guard!"
The traffic jam in Dragon Head’s mind found a breakthrough, suddenly clearing.
"That makes sense!"
"Turn the car around!"
With the engine’s roar, they charged into the brickyard once more.
Taking a small path, they rushed to the rear, and the next moment, a violent explosion erupted, flames staining the sky red. But it was far from over; a second explosion followed, spreading down the main path through the plant, one explosion after another, gathering into an even greater force.
The bright flames illuminated a shadow in the corner, their obsidian-like black hair reflecting the crimson blaze.
Dragon Head wasn’t reckless; his brain got messed up during evolution, leading to a mental breakdown whenever his Ability activated.
"Fools have fortune, but idiots don’t."
A cold wind dispersed a few faint sighs.
...
"Who are you people? Why are you attacking our Gunfire?"
A loud shout of surprise and anger came from behind, and Su Huan glanced up to see the bearded white man who had been in pursuit standing atop a car, questioning with his head raised.
Under the streetlight stood a slender figure in a two-tone knit sweater.
Without any response, they swung a large axe and leaped down, their circular motion echoing the bright moon above.
From extreme motion to complete stillness, with no buffer. Dust rose beneath their feet, forming a perfect ring that lingered in mid-air.
"Boom!"
The white man jumped back in disarray, looking forward, only to find the figure within the circle gone, leaving behind nothing but a car split in two like scrap metal.
Before even landing, they had somehow drawn a shotgun and, aiming ahead, pulled the trigger.
A cloud of blood erupted—a mist swirling in place, emitting low-frequency, almost joyous roars from within.
A long-handled axe tore through the blood mist like a missile, whistling toward its target.
The savage figure grasped the axe handle, dragged along like a kite in the wind!
Seeing this, Su Huan shifted his gaze away.
A Tier Two firepower Evolver being dragged into close combat by a dual Tier Two Genetic Primordial had already decided the outcome.
Outside, the gunfire grew even more intense, far beyond the mere harassment by the East City Association.
Su Huan ran a few steps on a building set at a ninety-degree angle to the ground, then stood atop the highest point of the entire brickyard.
The brickyard amidst the night appeared as a trapped giant beast surrounded by gunfire flashes, the distinctive bluish glow of electromagnetic weapons visible around.
The East City Association was merely hovering around the perimeter, with the external force inside the brickyard engaging faintly, showing no intent of pursuing. But with some encouragement from the Train Conductor, Dragon Head finally mustered the courage to charge into the brickyard’s depths.
Unfortunately, the Dragon Head fell prey to a treacherous ambush.
These were purely gunpowder explosions without any energy trace, which even Su Huan couldn’t detect until the moment of the blast, able only to compress at the instance of explosion.
Though he couldn’t be killed by them, it posed a huge headache for the Armed Corps.
He obviously wouldn’t gamble his elite soldiers on this, thus relying on the East City Association brethren instead.
Dragon Head was commendable, having taken the brunt of at least ninety percent of the explosive damage.
If found, Su Huan swore to give him a decent burial.
In an instant of Su Huan’s distraction, a slender sniper bullet appeared at his forehead without warning, then fell feebly, caught by his hand.
As suddenly as it appeared, its stop was just as sudden, only the energy patterns at the edges of his eyes glimmered softly.
"We’ve surrounded the brickyard. Should we advance inside?"
Su Huan flicked the bullet back along its path, calmly saying, "Fire!"
That Tier Two bearded white man was unfamiliar to him, at least not one of the three who transacted with Gunfire last time. It couldn’t be excluded as a ruse by Deep Blue Data, so the safest measure was to fully control them.
If their resistance was too fierce, they had no alternative but to annihilate them completely before determining their identity.
Until then, nothing they said would be believed by Su Huan.
