Beast World: From Villainess to Cub-Raising Chef
Chapter 116 - 115: Yelias Discovers Bai Su’s Talent
Bai Su’s eyes glinted as she kept her gaze fixed on the person in the distance.
’Today is the perfect opportunity. It all comes down to now—whether or not I can push Yelias to overcome his psychological block.’
Bai Su thought for a moment, then closed her eyes to control Clone #3. She instructed her to lead Lu Tingyan around to keep the others outside occupied and prevent anyone from heading in this direction.
On the narrow, winding path, Clone #2 and Yelias were still at a stalemate.
Yelias’s hands could also transform into a spider’s forelegs, which were like small scalpels. Paired with his incredibly flexible spider silk, he could single-handedly perform surgery anytime, anywhere.
But he was too afraid.
Seeing that Clone #2 was nearly breathless, she pleaded desperately with Yelias.
He finally relented. Not wanting to let her injuries worsen, he morphed his two forelegs into the shape of scalpels. But they were still trembling, and he hesitated, unable to bring himself to make the cut.
Blood poured from Clone #2 as if it cost nothing, finally spurring Yelias into action. He wrapped his sharp forelegs in fine, soft spider silk and pierced her skin.
From her corner, the real Bai Su finally breathed a sigh of relief.
’Now, I can finally find a chance to ask him to perform the surgery and get my uterus back from Bai Xue.’
Clone #1 looked at the real Bai Su. "What if he finds out you faked the injury to trick him?"
Bai Su gave a cunning blink. "She never said she was the original. She just didn’t want to die. Who’s faking anything?"
Clone #1 sucked in a breath. "Requesting a brain from headquarters."
Bai Su replied, "Request denied."
Clone #1: "I hate you."
Bai Su: "You’re welcome."
She recalled Clone #2 and turned to find Clone #3.
Coincidentally, Clone #3 had just led Lu Tingyan to the entrance of the narrow path.
When the real Bai Su ran over, Lu Tingyan was completely dumbfounded.
"How... can there be two Susus?"
Bai Su ran over and said, "I’m the original. I sent a Clone to find you."
Lu Tingyan asked, "This is...?"
Bai Su rubbed her nose. "It’s a Skill."
She recalled Clone #3 as well.
Lu Tingyan’s eyes lit up as he looked at her, pleasantly surprised. "Susu, you have Skills too?"
His expression immediately turned serious. "You have to keep your Skills hidden, understand? Don’t let anyone know about them. That way, you’ll always have a trump card to save your life when you’re in danger."
Bai Su felt the same way, which was why she had kept them hidden for so long.
She tugged wearily at Lu Tingyan’s arm. "Let’s go. Don’t let that little guy get away."
Lu Tingyan nodded.
The two of them quickly called for the Yan Family to completely lock down the entire venue. The official reason was that Leader Lu had lost a valuable item.
Yodel soon began the search with the guards outside.
’I definitely can’t hide the truth about the Clones from Yelias,’ Bai Su thought. ’He’s operating on one right now, while I’m appearing in the open with Lu Tingyan.’
’I have to go back and clear up any suspicion.’
Bai Su tugged meekly on the corner of Lu Tingyan’s sleeve. "My other Clone was with that little guy earlier. Let’s go check it out. We might find a clue."
Lu Tingyan nodded.
The two of them headed deeper into the narrow, winding path.
The metallic scent of blood grew stronger, and Lu Tingyan’s expression became increasingly alert.
When they reached the deepest part of the path, they finally saw Clone #2 in a pool of blood, along with Yelias, who had just finished surgery and was stitching her up.
Yelias was startled when he saw Bai Su approaching in the distance. "Susu..."
Bai Su feigned surprise. "What are you..."
She glanced at the Clone and, with a wave of her hand, recalled her.
Yelias narrowed his eyes. "A Skill?"
Bai Su nodded, looking abashed. "I’m sorry for the misunderstanding. This is one of my Clones. She was responsible for tracking a child I was looking for."
To prove that she and her Clones didn’t share senses, Bai Su communicated with the Clone in front of them all. "What’s the situation? Where’s that child?"
Clone #2 shook her head weakly. "He gutted me and ran away. He’s very powerful—he can weave spiderwebs to trap people, and he can also freeze them so they can’t move. His hands turn into blades, and he injected me with an anesthetic..."
By the time she finished, the color had drained from Yelias’s face. Seeing that the Clone’s words didn’t sound like a lie, he asked urgently, "What child?"
’Why does that sound like someone from the Lanton Family?’
’But possessing both a freezing Skill and the spider web Companion Skill... that’s only possible for someone in the direct Lanton Family bloodline.’
’As far as I know, besides my grandfather, I’m the only one in the Lanton Family who has the ancestral Skills.’
’A child...’
’Unless... it’s my offspring.’
Yelias suddenly looked at Bai Su. "Did you give birth to my child back then?"
His blunt question made Bai Su blush, and she could only nod.
Now that Yelias knew, she didn’t plan on hiding it.
Lu Tingyan, however, couldn’t help but freeze in shock.
’That night, there were indeed four men.’
’Besides me and my cousin Wen Lan, there was also Li Chenlin and Yelias.’
’Since Bai Su had children with both me and Li Chenlin, it stood to reason that the other two children could belong to Yelias and Wen Lan...’
’That’s right.’
’The two children Bai Su had asked me to find... one was a young male White Spider, and the other was a young female Chameleon Lizard.’
’They matched Yelias’s and Wen Lan’s Beastman attributes perfectly.’
It wasn’t that Lu Tingyan hadn’t suspected this before; he just still found it hard to believe.
In the continuation of any Beastman bloodline, the odds of perfectly inheriting a Companion Ability and Skills from one’s father were only one in a thousand.
Yet among Bai Su’s children—including the Little White Spider—three had already perfectly inherited their fathers’ Companion Abilities and Skills.
’And there was even a little female among the litter.’
’It was simply unbelievable!’
Yelias was just as incredulous. "How is that possible?"
Lu Tingyan raised an eyebrow. "Why not? Are you questioning Susu?"
Yelias looked between the two of them, pursed his lips, and explained in a low voice, "The talents and abilities of the Lanton Family can only be passed down every other generation."
The bloodline power of the Lanton Family is immense. The power passed from a grandfather to a father is too strong for an infant to withstand.
Thousands of years of genetic development and survival of the fittest produced the Lanton Family’s unique mode of inheritance.
The grandfather’s bloodline would lie dormant within the father’s body. The power would only awaken in the next generation, when the father had his first child, Yelias.
Only by being diluted through the father’s bloodline is the power weak enough not to consume the infant.
As Yelias grew, he would continuously purify this power, nurturing it until it grew strong again, perhaps even surpassing his grandfather’s power and talent.
According to this pattern, Yelias’s children shouldn’t inherit any superpowers from him. The superpowers can only be passed down again to his grandchildren’s generation.
Unless...
