Beast World: From Villainess to Cub-Raising Chef
Chapter 60: Yelias Approaches Her with a Purpose
After three days of renovations, the restaurant was finally reopening.
She logged into her account and couldn’t help but laugh out loud at the comments under her video.
[What?! Closing for three days?! No way, no way! Nooo! How am I supposed to live without you!]
[Three days! Do you have any idea how much damage that does to my fragile little heart?]
[Waaah, the little female is working too hard. She deserves a rest!] 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
[But three days is too long! I can’t accept not eating your delicious food for three days. I can’t even stomach canned food anymore!]
[Susu, you have to take responsibility for me! You’ve completely spoiled my palate!]
Most of them were urging her to open the shop.
She could already imagine the explosive scene once the restaurant opened today.
Luckily, she had called the vendors at the Mountain Market late last night and had them deliver fresh ingredients first thing in the morning.
With Lu Tingyan looking out for her, many of the trivial matters of running the restaurant went exceptionally smoothly.
Bai Su thought for a moment and then filmed a video. In it, she was wearing a small floral kerchief on her head, an apron, and had her hair in a braid, smiling sweetly at the camera.
Beaming at the camera, she said, "Closing for three days has caused quite an inconvenience for everyone. To make it up to you all, our restaurant, on October 12th—that’s today—will be offering all dishes at half price! We also have new items on the menu, so please feel free to bring your friends and family to dine with us today~"
The short video, paired with cheerful music, quickly caused a sensation after it was posted.
[Grandma! That shop you follow is finally open today!]
[What? It’s finally open today? (Brushes cobwebs off head)]
[AHHHHHHHH, SUSU, MY BABY! MOMMY LOVES YOU! I’m coming right now! I’m even bringing my banner!]
[HALF PRICE!!! Waaah, the proprietress is so thoughtful! I’d be letting my ancestors down if I didn’t rush over!]
[?? Are you guys monsters? I got here at 9 AM to line up, and the queue is already all the way down the mountain?]
[Fine, fine, so we’re all secretly trying to one-up each other, huh? I’ll start lining up tomorrow as soon as you close. (Ruthless smile)]
Bai Su hadn’t been idle these past three days. She’d already had workers start demolishing the courtyard. The surrounding wall wasn’t built yet, but without the courtyard in the way, the entire spacious area on the mountaintop could be used as a dining space for customers.
She had filled the outdoor area with tables, allowing her to serve more than three times the number of customers as before.
Thanks to the substantial points from Lu Tingyan and Li Chenlin, she had also exchanged them for several upgraded stoves last night, doubling her food preparation efficiency.
It just meant the few children running the food would have to work a little harder; they were going to be busy.
Bai Su stroked her chin. ’I should probably hire another worker soon.’
A line had already formed outside. The customers were all quite well-behaved. Although it was crowded, most of them were orderly, chatting amongst themselves. The atmosphere was lively yet peaceful.
It saved Bai Su a lot of trouble.
This was because of a previous incident where customers had gotten into a huge fight over queuing.
Bai Su couldn’t stop them, so she simply shut down the restaurant and closed early for the day.
Not only did the troublemakers not get to eat, but none of the other customers could either.
After that incident, the customers became much more compliant. If anyone even thought about starting trouble, others would immediately step in to stop them.
This was a little trick Bai Su had learned from her business dealings in her past life.
’Once you have everyone’s interests in the palm of your hand, controlling them is simple.’
’If one person causes trouble and everyone shares the consequences, I naturally won’t have to lift a finger. Plenty of people will step up to help me deal with the troublemaker.’
Bai Su smiled, nodded, and greeted the customers at the door. "Morning, everyone! You’re all here so early."
The customers greeted her enthusiastically, and among them were quite a few females. "Ma’am, can you open a little earlier today?"
"Yeah! I’ve been craving this for so long! After eating your food for a while, I even got pregnant!"
"My Beast Husbands have eaten your food, and they’ve gotten much stronger and healthier!"
"Eating it every day promotes longevity. It’s more reliable than going to the hospital!"
Bai Su just smiled. "I’ll do my best. Please don’t just stand outside. Since you’re here, you can take a number and be seated. I’ll see to it that your orders are prioritized once I’m done with my prep."
"Alright!" Everyone’s spirits lifted. Each person scanned a code at the entrance as they came in.
The Federation’s technology was advanced. After scanning the code, a number would appear, hovering over their smart bracelets.
Bai Su’s back-end system received the order for each number, so Bai Xiaolang and the other little ones just had to deliver the food to the corresponding table.
Bai Su was busy when she suddenly saw someone outside jumping up and down, waving.
She glanced out and saw Yan Jiu bouncing around.
Yan Jiu was waving his hands excitedly. When he saw Bai Su look at him, he started pointing frantically at his own nose.
Amused, Bai Su had Bai Xiaolang lead him inside.
Yan Jiu ran in, his face alight with excitement. "Miss Bai... I-I heard from Aide-de-camp Yodel that your restaurant is hiring?"
Bai Su smiled and nodded. "That’s right. Why?"
Yan Jiu scratched his head, a little embarrassed. "Are you hiring temporary workers? You know, the kind that just comes in to help on weekends."
After eating Bai Su’s food once, he had gone online to look up videos and information about the restaurant. He discovered it was incredibly popular, with queues almost every day and demand far outstripping supply.
It was even more crowded on weekends.
But he worked in the military and only had weekends off.
He couldn’t guarantee he’d be able to get a meal every time he came.
So, when he heard Yodel muttering that Bai Su still hadn’t found a suitable person for her shop, an idea immediately sparked.
’If I could work here as a helper, wouldn’t I be able to eat delicious food every week?’
A shy look appeared on Yan Jiu’s face. "Um... I don’t need to be paid. I just ask for one meal for lunch. Would that be okay?"
Bai Su looked at him strangely. "I remember... you’re with Bai Xue, aren’t you? Would they let you come here?"
Yan Jiu immediately straightened his back. "Miss Bai Su! Before, my mind was clouded, but now I have turned over a new leaf and become a new man! You have magnificently saved my fallen soul and helped me find the meaning of life! For this, I offer you my sincerest respect!"
He gave a sharp bow, startling Bai Su so much that she took two steps back, almost thinking he was about to hit her.
The people in the livestream chat burst out laughing.
Bai Su thought for a moment. "Alright, but this is temporary. I’d still prefer to hire someone full-time. If the full-time employee can handle the weekend workload, I might have to let you go."
Yan Jiu nodded emphatically. "No problem!"
Only then did Bai Su have Bai Xiaolang take him away for training. Since it was the weekend, he could do some on-the-job training and start working right away.
It did solve her immediate problem.
The restaurant’s promotion was in full swing.
As expected, Yelias arrived at lunchtime.
Bai Xiaolang led him to a private room upstairs, where the window offered a view of the bustling scene below.
A flash of surprise crossed Yelias’s eyes. "Is your shop this lively every day?"
Bai Xiaolang said obediently, "We’re having a promotion today, so it’s a little more crowded."
Yelias nodded slightly, indicating he understood.
Bai Xiaolang then asked, "Great-Grandpa, what would you like to eat today?"
Yelias’s eyes flickered. "The usual is fine."
Bai Xiaolang nodded and turned to leave. But just as he reached the door, he suddenly spun around and stared directly at Yelias. "Great-Grandpa, how come you didn’t pet my wolf ears today?"
Yelias met his gaze and keenly caught the flash of vigilance and probing in the boy’s eyes. He couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. ’What a sharp little wolf cub.’
He looked at the little one, amused. "When has Great-Grandpa ever petted your wolf ears?"
Yarko’s health was poor, and he was allergic to animal fur. Unless absolutely necessary, he would never touch it.
The doubt in Bai Xiaolang’s eyes vanished. "Fine, fine. It’s so hard to get Great-Grandpa to pet me. Just you wait, Mama is making you the fish from last night. It’ll be served with the other dishes."
Yelias smiled. "Alright."
Only after the little one left did he retract his gaze, staring calmly at the bustling crowd below.
’That woman, Bai Su, she’s actually made a comeback.’
’I really underestimated her. Her methods are even more formidable than before.’
’Grandfather’s sudden death is still a mystery. The only thing that’s certain is that he frequently visited this restaurant before he died.’
’I can only disguise myself as Grandfather to temporarily stabilize the situation within the Lanton Family and investigate the cause of his death in secret.’
’To be able to coax Grandfather into giving her the ring and designating her as his wife, that woman Bai Su must have used some underhanded means. She must have sweet-talked and beguiled him.’
’Perhaps Grandfather’s death is also related to her...’
