Upon finishing her sentence, Mao Ruxue took out a unique yellow token from her bosom.

Chen Chang’an reached out to receive it, a faint fragrance still hung on the token, paired with a lingering warmth from the girl.

Seemingly aware of this situation, a blush creeped across Mao Ruxue’s cheeks as she saw Chen Chang’an accept the token.

Although she might be quite direct and relaxed by nature, she was still a lady born into a family of scholars. She had been trained in all manner of etiquette and manners from a tender age and thus was very aware of the differences between men and women.

Therefore, despite knowing that there would be no issue in letting her senior brother see, she still felt a bit shy.

Thankfully, after seeing no reaction from Chen Chang’an on the other side, her blush subsided somewhat.

Taking the token in hand, Chen Chang’an looked it over.

The front of the token was carved with three gilded words ’Tianshui Sect’, while the back held six characters, three large and three small.

The three large characters read: Mountain lord’s token.

The three small ones read: Mao Ruxue.

"Junior sister, this indeed is the token issued by our sect."

"You keep it properly. In two months, you can report to the main peak with this token in hand."

Having inspected it, Chen Chang’an determined the authenticity of the token.

It was genuine, and it was the entry ticket for the best training course in Tianshui Sect - [Pre-Heaven Knowledge Offerings].

[Pre-Heaven Knowledge Offerings] was a cultivation education program prepared by the Tianshui Sect for every new disciple.

It included, but was not limited to, instructing disciples in learning arrays, symbols, pills, implements, laws, and a series of other basic knowledge essential for cultivators. The coverage was extensive and greatly aided the disciples’ later development.

[Pre-Heaven Knowledge Offerings] was open to all – a kind of major classroom, as well as a super beneficial class that each person within the Tianshui Sect could only attend once in their lives.

Not to mention, the teachers in these classes were at least at the four-fold realm or higher, qualified mountain lords or elders within the Tianshui Sect.

From time to time, even elders of the fifth realm, the Supreme Elders, would come to give lectures.

Although the program lasted only for a short month, for new disciples like Mao Ruxue who were just starting their path of cultivation, this was undoubtedly one of the most valuable treasures in their lives.

A treasure so rare that anyone would regret missing it for the rest of their lives.

This benefit was only for the disciples newly entered into the Tianshui Sect. Chen Chang’an had also attended it during his time.

However, due to his impairment in the six senses in those days, he gained nothing.

Yet, he still attended for a full month.

Mao Ruxue was a new disciple as well, even though because she took him as her senior brother, she was considered a generation higher and was seen as an ’uncle’ figure to the disciples of that generation.

Therefore, she still qualified for this major course.

’"Oh, alright, elder brother, I will go when the time comes."

Mao Ruxue nodded and received the token.

However, this time she did not put the token back in her bosom. Instead, she tucked it into her waist.

The two of them quietly resumed their meal after finishing their conversation about the token.

Among them, Mao Ruxue was the merriest eater.

Because Mao Ruxue discovered that this meat was not only delicious, but after eating it, there was a warm feeling all over the body.

All her energy channels seemed to be extremely robust.

It was as if she had been cultivating for most of the night.

What was even more surprising was that after eating no less than half a goose, she found that her cultivation level had actually increased.

Although the increase was small, it was still a huge surprise for her.

Imagine, if such little progress was to be achieved from cultivation, she would at least need to cultivate for about four hours.

But now, she achieved the same just by having a meal. Could this meat actually be the meat of an immortal?

With these thoughts, Mao Ruxue enjoyed her meal even more.

Cultivators don’t need to worry about gaining weight, so she held no reservations.

"Junior sister, at what level of cultivation are you now?"

However, while Mao Ruxue was engrossed in her food, Chen Chang’an spoke again.

Hearing Chen Chang’an’s words, Mao Ruxue paused her movements and answered,

"Elder brother, I have gained some understanding of the first level of the Purple Yang Heart Sutra."

"And I am about to enter the threshold of the Bodhi Rebirth Sutra, I should be able to officially begin in a few days."

Speaking about her cultivation, Mao Ruxue was instantly intrigued, after all, this was her strong suit.

"Hmm, not bad."

Hearing what Mao Ruxue had to say, Chen Chang’an nodded.

He knew that the reason Mao Ruxue hadn’t reached the threshold in her cultivation of the Bodhi Rebirth Sutra wasn’t because she lacked talent.

It’s because she had spent her time on other things.

The ’Yin Yang Secret Canon’ and the ’Sutra of Joyous Suffering in Rebirth’.

These two scriptures were given to her by Chen Chang’an personally. He had also practiced them before. Hence, he knew exactly how difficult it was to cultivate using these two techniques.

Moreover, he also wanted to see where his junior sister’s limits lay.

Previously, when he had asked the Black and White Impermanence to choose a ’Earth Bodhisattva’ candidate, the rules he set were quite clear.

The newly selected ’Earth Bodhisattva’ could disregard their cultivation level, but must break through to the three-fold realm within a month of assuming office.

Otherwise, they would lose their title and position.

This was the command Chen Chang’an issued to the Black and White Impermanence. It was also a rule set for the prospective new Earth Bodhisattva.

However, when he later found out Mao Ruxue was the selected candidate for the Earth Bodhisattva, it took Chen Chang’an by surprise.

He never imagined such an innocent looking girl like Mao Ruxue could fight her way to such a position in the Rebirth Hall.

Yes, ’fighting’ was the apt word.

Everyone knew that the Rebirth Hall was a place where no mercy was shown.

Although Chen Chang’an didn’t have specific cultivation requirements for the candidates for the Earth Bodhisattva, his other expectations were quite high indeed.

If Mao Ruxue couldn’t meet those requirements, she probably wouldn’t have passed even the first round of selection.

But, reality proved that not only did she pass the first test, she fought her way through thousands of candidates and emerged victorious.

As for how to judge such strength, Chen Chang’an found it hard to describe.

However, Chen Chang’an did not plan to intervene in Mao Ruxue’s affairs in the Rebirth Hall.

Such as the title ’Earth Bodhisattva’.

The title of ’Earth Bodhisattva’ was not strictly granted by Chen Chang’an, but rather something Mao Ruxue fought for herself.

If it were any other person that had been selected as the ’Earth Bodhisattva’ that day, Chen Chang’an would have likely just given them the title.

If they had the strength to fight for it, there was no reason to deny them.

Of course, that’s not to say that Chen Chang’an had not shown any favoritism towards Mao Ruxue.

When he initially discovered Mao Ruxue was the chosen ’Earth Bodhisattva’, he did show some favor.

If it were just any ’Earth Bodhisattva’, he might have granted them a Divine Skill, comparable to those granted to the Black and White Impermanence.

But he would never grant the Yin Yang Secret Canon’ and the ’Sutra of Joyous Suffering in Rebirth’, two extremely potent scriptures.

After all, these two scriptures could potentially cultivate the super Divine Skill ’Art of Six Paths of Reincarnation’.

And the Six Paths of Reincarnation was a most supreme Divine Skill, one that Chen Chang’an was still using up to this day.

To bestow such a powerful Divine Skill on a stranger gratuitously was not something he was willing to do.

Of course.

The reason he gave these two scriptures to Mao Ruxue was not just out of favoritism, he also wanted to see-

To see just how far this junior sister could go.
