He glanced at the two cases of gold bars. "Isn’t Sue Lawrence coming tomorrow? It’s the perfect chance to show her. All these jewels, gold bars, and luxury items—they’re all for Tiana. A filthy woman like Sue Lawrence, who carried a bastard’s child, isn’t even worthy of touching any of this!" 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

Maeve Walsh smiled, quickly reining in her greed. She straightened up and began to report their inventory: "I’ve already stockpiled five thousand full banquets from six restaurants in my space. One ton each of pork, beef, and mutton, plus three tons of seafood! We’re fully stocked on vegetables, too—fifteen hundred kilograms each of common types like cabbage, daikon radish, and bok choy, and I didn’t forget long-lasting ones like yams, wood ear fungus, and other mushrooms! Don’t even get me started on oil—five thousand crates each of peanut oil, rapeseed oil, lard, and soybean oil. It’s enough to keep us well-fed for several years!"

She paused, then added with some hesitation, "But I’ve only stored a hundred barrels of gasoline and fifty barrels of diesel... The Paramount Raider is such a gas-guzzler. Shouldn’t we stockpile more?"

As a Reincarnator, she knew better than anyone how crucial energy would be in the apocalypse—it was the key to survival.

Jason Sterling nodded. "Don’t worry about that. In a few days, a 300,000-ton oil tanker is scheduled to arrive at the port in the next city. I’ll take you there, and we’ll clean out every drop of usable fuel!"

"Really?!" Maeve Walsh’s eyes lit up instantly. "That’s fantastic! With all that fuel, our shelter will be foolproof. All we need is medicine to wrap things up perfectly!"

’The more she thought about it, the more she believed that following Jason Sterling and kicking Sue Lawrence out was the best decision she’d ever made. Without that dead weight holding them back, their stockpiling was going smoothly, and she had even awakened a Space Ability. They were sure to become top-tier survivors in the apocalypse!’

After speaking, the three of them turned and left without a backward glance. Tiana Lynch couldn’t suppress the smile on her face as she hurried to keep up, making a point to lock the office door tightly behind them.

The trio cheerfully went off to continue their stockpiling, completely unaware that their carefully orchestrated show of wealth had already become the perfect opportunity for Sue Lawrence.

Meanwhile, far away at a highway service area, Sue Lawrence slowly pushed open her car door. The cool night wind lifted strands of her hair, but her eyes held not a trace of warmth.

Her Cat’s Hearing allowed her to clearly capture every sound around her: the conversations from the distant convenience store, the roar of car engines, and even the rustling of leaves in the wind.

The service area wasn’t crowded to begin with. After a set of footsteps faded, a brief silence fell, leaving only the sound of deliberately stifled breathing lingering nearby.

Sue Lawrence pretended not to notice anything. She opened her trunk and pulled out a heavy-looking backpack. It was the one she had specifically used during her shopping spree in Eldoria to ferry gold into her car. The bag was empty now, but that didn’t matter. ’The person tailing me will definitely remember this bag.’

She discreetly stuffed a light down jacket inside to fill it out, then slung the backpack over her shoulders, acting as if it were very heavy. After locking her car, she walked slowly toward the restrooms. On her way back, she made a point to stop and buy a bottle of water, pretending to take a break.

Her Perception had already taken in everything.

In the silver Nissan parked diagonally across from her sat a man in a baseball cap. His slimy gaze hadn’t left her since she arrived at the service area.

A small smile touched Sue Lawrence’s lips. ’I really hope he doesn’t lose me.’

After finishing her water, she returned to her car with the backpack, started the engine, and slowly pulled out of the service area.

In her rearview mirror, the silver Nissan silently fell in behind her, just as she’d expected. It kept a safe distance, not too close and not too far. Clearly, the driver was an old pro.

A faint smile flickered in Sue Lawrence’s eyes. She gently pressed the accelerator, her car smoothly merging into the flow of traffic heading toward the city.

At four in the afternoon up north, the sky was already beginning to darken. Just as she entered the city, the streetlights flickered on in unison, bathing the streets in a daylight-like glow. Instead of heading straight home, Sue Lawrence began to deliberately drive in circles around the city.

From South Avenue to Ring Mountain Road, from the city center to the development zone, she intentionally chose routes with many traffic lights and complex road conditions. Every now and then, she would even make a deliberate turn into a small alley, only to loop back out again.

The silver Nissan in her rearview mirror remained in hot pursuit, sticking to her like glue.

Sue Lawrence led him on like this for over two hours. It wasn’t until seven-thirty that she finally, slowly, drove into the parking garage beneath her former company’s building.

She deliberately parked in a conspicuous spot. Getting out with the "heavy" backpack, her eyes swept impassively across the area.

Sure enough, the silver Nissan had parked in a hidden corner a few rows behind.

Pretending not to see it, she walked straight toward the office building.

The old security guard at the entrance recognized her at a glance and greeted her enthusiastically. "Ms. Lawrence, long time no see!"

"Good evening, Grandpa Ward." Sue Lawrence smiled and nodded, not breaking her stride as she walked straight into the elevator.

"Hey, Ms. Lawrence!" The security guard suddenly remembered something and hurried after her. "There’s a delivery for your company. Should I bring it up for you?"

Sue Lawrence pretended she hadn’t heard. The elevator doors slid shut, cutting off the security guard’s voice. She pressed the button for the top floor, her fingertips tapping lightly against the elevator wall, a calculating smile playing on her lips.

The old security guard was a bit disappointed to see her go. Just then, a man in a helmet and a food delivery uniform appeared before him. "I can take it up for you. An order for that company just came in."

The old security guard was used to this, as the office drones working late often ordered food, so he went back to find the package. Beneath his helmet, the man’s gaze fell on the elevator display, watching it stop on the sixth floor.

Picking up the package, the man quickly got into an elevator. Inside, he checked the address on the parcel: Floor 6—0611.

When the elevator reached the top floor, Sue Lawrence walked out quickly. She found the water tank on the roof, shoved the bulging backpack into a crevice beneath it, and blocked it with a few bricks. From the outside, it was completely hidden.

Then, she leaned over the railing to look down. She wasn’t in a hurry; she just waited. Sure enough, she soon saw a man in a helmet walk out of the office building and slowly get into the Nissan.

’So cautious, he even knew to disguise himself as a delivery driver?’

’But it doesn’t matter. As long as the fish has taken the bait.’

Sue Lawrence went downstairs slowly. She didn’t go back to the office but walked straight out of the building, got into her car, started the engine, and sped away.

In her rearview mirror, the silver Nissan, as expected, did not follow.

’Clearly, he thought I hid the gold in the office and is planning to sneak in tonight to steal it.’

The smile on Sue Lawrence’s lips deepened. She stepped on the gas and drove straight to the nearest large supermarket.

After parking the car, she immediately rummaged through her suitcase for her disguise kit: a prosthetic nose, a fake chin, a short wig, and a pair of shoulder pads. They were all leftovers from when she had helped Vivian Young sell off her luxury goods a few days ago.

Once her disguise was complete, she picked out a black, unisex trench coat from her suitcase. Its loose fit completely obscured her figure. After putting on a face mask, she carefully avoided the security cameras and took the darkest path behind the supermarket, circling back to a blind spot in the shadows below her old company building.
