Betrayed in the Apocalypse? I'll Plunder My Way to the Top
Chapter 28: TNT? An Apocalyptic Weapon?
The next second, her breath caught in her throat.
In her mind’s eye, a boundless space suddenly unfurled.
An A Level Storage Space. A vast world of 1,000 cubic kilometers, with a length, width, and height of 10,000 meters each. Inside this massive space, supplies were stacked like mountains, stretching as far as the eye could see.
As the master of this space, she could clearly sense the position and condition of every single item. The feeling of being in complete control sent a thrill through her.
The first thing to enter her perception was a wave of enticing aromas. Thousands of tables laden with steaming-hot banquet dishes were arranged in neat rows. Braised pork knuckle glistened with oil, and the delicate scent of steamed fish lingered in the air. Even the sauces were still as warm as when they were first served.
Beside them were mountains of fresh pork, beef, and mutton. The marbling of fat and muscle was clearly visible, and the blood hadn’t even had time to congeal.
The seafood section was even more spectacular. Lobsters, king crabs, and all kinds of ocean fish were packed together tightly, their scales shimmering with a moist luster under the faint light of her consciousness. There were also sealed bags of fresh vegetables—the greens were a vibrant, dewy emerald, and the radishes carried the fresh scent of earth. Every leaf was as crisp and alive as it had been the moment it was stored, as if just plucked from a garden.
Sue Lawrence’s heart pounded with elation. ’These supplies are enough for our family to live comfortably through the apocalypse!’
But when her consciousness swept over the deeper parts of the space, her breathing instantly quickened, and her heart hammered so hard it felt like it would burst from her chest.
Rows upon rows of fuel tanks stood in neat formation like soldiers awaiting inspection, so numerous they stretched beyond sight. They were filled to the brim with gasoline—enough to power that gas-guzzling beast.
And next to the tanks, a behemoth stood silently. Its black chassis glinted with a cold, hard metallic sheen. Its lines were sharp and distinct, and it exuded an imposing aura, like a dormant beast.
It was the legendary land carrier—the Paramount Raider!
Sue Lawrence’s eyes lit up with astonishing brightness, and she couldn’t help but trace the vehicle’s outline in the air with her fingertips.
Overjoyed, she couldn’t resist examining the beast more closely, recalling all the rumors she had heard online about this vehicle.
It was hailed as the world’s most unstoppable vehicle. All obstacles would be flattened by the Raider. Its thick armor could withstand attacks from personal rocket launchers, and its chassis could endure the blast of a 7-kilogram TNT-equivalent bomb. Even if its bulletproof tires were pierced by 12.7mm armor-piercing rounds, it could still drive safely for at least 50 kilometers...
It was, quite simply, the perfect apocalyptic weapon!
A smile never left Sue Lawrence’s lips. This was the first time she had ever seen a real Paramount Raider. Before, she had only heard of its legendary reputation from rumors in the later stages of the apocalypse—bulletproof, bombproof, capable of easily crushing obstacles, and driving through hordes of zombies as if on flat ground. It was a life-saving artifact countless people dreamed of. She never imagined that this perfect beast would now actually belong to her.
’Jason Sterling, I really have you to thank for this!’
Her joy and excitement peaked at this moment. After inspecting the supplies in her space, she turned, opened her bedroom door, and eagerly headed downstairs.
In the first-floor living room, the whole family was seated in an orderly fashion. Vivian Young held Leo tightly in her arms, the little boy dressed in a fuzzy hoodie. Vincent Lawrence wore a grave expression, and even Elliot Lawrence was uncharacteristically silent, a half-burnt cigarette dangling from his fingers, its ash long forgotten.
The television was on, broadcasting the national news.
Sue Lawrence’s arrival broke the heavy, oppressive atmosphere. She stood before them all, a smile practically radiating from her face.
"I got something amazing."
Vincent Lawrence’s grim expression instantly softened. Seeing his daughter, a smile finally appeared on his face.
"Oh? What is it?"
Elliot Lawrence and the others also looked over, their eyes filled with curiosity.
"A Storage Space. A Storage Space with a lot of supplies in it."
When those two words came out, everyone was stunned.
Vivian Young asked in amazement, "You mean one of those spaces where you can store things, and they don’t spoil?"
"That’s right!"
Elliot Lawrence shot to his feet, pacing around the living room. "Does that mean all the supplies we hid in the mine can be put into your space? We don’t have to worry about people stealing our things anymore?"
Hearing this, everyone’s faces lit up with joy and delight. Jenny Norris couldn’t help but ask, "Then can we take everything in the house, too? Sue, can you take the villa? I’ve always lived here, and this is my favorite place..."
Everyone began chattering excitedly, all expressing their delight over the Space Ability, but not a single person asked Sue Lawrence how she had obtained it.
Amid the noise, Vincent Lawrence shook his head. "It’s better not to move the supplies from the mine. We can’t put all our eggs in one basket."
Spoken like a seasoned entrepreneur, Vincent Lawrence was directly opposed to storing all their supplies in Sue Lawrence’s space.
Everyone fell silent at his words. Elliot Lawrence also said, "I think Dad has a point."
Sue Lawrence thought for a moment and nodded. "Alright, then. The things in the mine will stay in the mine. When I go there, I’ll just pick out some things I don’t have, and we can balance the supplies between both places."
Vincent Lawrence considered this, then nodded in agreement. "That works. But what about the chicks and horses we acquired? Can they be put inside?"
"No, living things can’t go in."
There wasn’t a single living creature in the entire space. The rules she saw with her Eye of Barrier Breaking also stated: inanimate objects only. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"Right, you should also store some of the gold we have at home. I’ve ordered another batch, about 1,500 kilograms, that should be delivered in the next few days..."
’1,500 kilograms of gold!’
Sue Lawrence nodded excitedly. "Okay, I’ll stuff most of the gold into the space."
"Good," Vincent Lawrence nodded. "Let’s cross-reference our supply lists and see if there’s anything we’ve missed. We should use this final bit of time to stockpile whatever we can. It’ll just be icing on the cake."
As Vincent Lawrence hammered out the final details, the others listened intently, and Sue Lawrence quickly began writing down a list of the items in her space.
Soon, the living room fell quiet, leaving only the clear, measured voice of the news anchor on the television continuing its report.
"...The northeastern region of our country has been hit by a severe blizzard. As of now, the snow depth has reached 91 centimeters, with the deepest accumulation in some border villages exceeding 205 centimeters. Multiple villages have lost water and power due to the blizzard. The government has now initiated the highest-level emergency response and organized rescue teams to provide full support..."
Hearing this, everyone’s head snapped up to look at the television.
The anchor’s words were like a boulder dropped into a calm lake. The living room was instantly silent, and the screen showed the current situation in the northeast.
Blizzards. The accumulated snow had even buried the low-lying greenbelts, leaving the entire landscape a vast, empty expanse of white.
Sue Lawrence’s heart sank to the pit of her stomach.
She clearly remembered that in previous years, the deepest snow from an extreme blizzard in the northeast had never exceeded 69 centimeters. But now, even before the apocalypse had truly begun, the snowfall had already broken historical records, reaching a horrifying 91 centimeters.
’What about in eight days, then?’ she thought. ’When the true apocalyptic cold wave sweeps in, how deep will the snow be?’
