Betrayed in the Apocalypse? I'll Plunder My Way to the Top
Chapter 54: You Can Go Die Too
Step one: take over the neighborhood’s security cameras.
She manipulated her phone, activating her B Level Network Technology. She took control of the cameras along the way, not even sparing those on the nearby villas.
After taking care of all that, she used her Observation Power and cat-like hearing to check the surroundings for people. Once she was sure no one was around, she silenced her phone and called out calmly, "Cousin."
Donovan Lawrence froze. He turned his head as expected, and when he saw it was her, he couldn’t help but frown.
"Don’t think I’ll be grateful just because of this. This thing with my mom isn’t over!"
"Hah..."
Sue Lawrence smiled. The Bone-cutting Knife was hidden in her sleeve, and she subconsciously tightened her grip on the hilt.
She knew very well that with Donovan Lawrence’s personality, this would never be over. Her original plan had been to get him thrown in jail for a while before the apocalypse arrived and then deal with him after it started. But who would have thought Jason Sterling would get him out early?
"So, have you found out where Maeve Walsh is?"
She approached step by step with a smile. Donovan Lawrence was standing in front of a dense bamboo grove. Snow had painted the world white, but the bamboo remained a vibrant green, a splash of color in the monochrome landscape. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
It was a perfect spot. The bamboo grove blocked all lines of sight.
Donovan Lawrence’s expression grew more impatient, but he narrowed his eyes, staring greedily at Sue Lawrence. "How much stuff has your family stockpiled? My mom went to your house last time and said there were vegetables piled up in the living room. You must have hoarded a lot, right? Your basement must be packed with supplies—meat, vegetables, seafood..."
Donovan Lawrence’s eyes were filled with greed.
Maeve Walsh was missing, and the money was gone. As he thought it over, he realized he was once again left with nothing!
In his last life, he had nothing because he was poor, born into a poor family. So when the apocalypse hit, he could only grovel and depend on others, acting like Jason Sterling’s dog!
But he was reborn now!
He knew everything in advance. He’d dumped that useless Sue Lawrence ahead of time, latched onto Jason Sterling’s coattails, and even stockpiled supplies. So why, after all that, was he still left with nothing?!
But Sue Lawrence’s family, just like in the last life, had everything!
Money, supplies... If he hadn’t broken in and robbed them, he would have been the one to die in the extreme cold, while the Lawrence Family would have surely survived.
Why?!
Just because they’re rich?
It’s not fair! It’s not fair!
Donovan Lawrence thought viciously, a murderous glint suddenly appearing in his eyes. He narrowed them and stepped closer to Sue Lawrence.
He, too, realized this was an excellent location.
The dense bamboo grove, weighed down by heavy snow, completely blocked the view. No one could see this spot. There weren’t even any security cameras around. It was the perfect place!
The ruthlessness in Donovan Lawrence’s heart intensified.
’Maeve Walsh is gone, the space is gone, and all the supplies inside it are gone,’ he thought. ’But Sue Lawrence is still here.’
’In my last life, I could use her to attract a zombie horde. This life, why can’t I kidnap her and demand money from Vincent Lawrence? With money, I can get supplies and survive the apocalypse. Maybe I can even take over a base, be the boss, the emperor, surrounded by assets and women, and rise above everyone else!’
Donovan Lawrence’s eyes gradually turned crimson. He reached out and placed a hand on Sue Lawrence’s shoulder, suddenly revealing a hideous grin and a row of stark white teeth.
"Sue Lawrence, you’re my dear cousin. You’ll help me, won’t you?"
Before Sue Lawrence could react, he clamped a hand over her mouth and dragged her into the bamboo grove, hissing viciously, "Sue Lawrence, call your dad. Tell him you’ve been kidnapped. I need five million... no, I need a hundred million! Tell your dad to send me the money..."
Donovan Lawrence’s excitement grew as he thought, and he shouted, "Have him transfer the money to your card first, then you’ll come with me to withdraw it! Yes, withdraw the cash!"
’A hundred million would definitely be enough. Jason Sterling only had fourteen million, and he managed to get so many supplies, even a Paramount Raider. If I had a hundred million, it would be enough to build a whole base!’
’Then I’ll trade for supplies, converting it all into long-lasting canned food, compressed biscuits, instant noodles, and water. Right, stock up on lots of water. Even with just these basic things, I could turn my life around in the apocalypse!’
The more Donovan Lawrence thought about it, the happier he became, almost laughing out loud. "You little bitch, you sent me to jail? Let me tell you, I remember every single thing. Once I get the money, the first thing I’ll do is kill you. It’ll save you the trouble of suffering and struggling in the apocalypse!"
He let out a vicious, cackling laugh, failing to notice Sue Lawrence’s eyes turning ice-cold.
"Did you kill my father or not?"
"What?"
Donovan Lawrence froze for a moment, his mind clearly unable to follow Sue Lawrence’s train of thought.
Sue Lawrence’s gaze darkened. ’There’s still one thing I’m not sure about. In my last life, Dad set out with supplies to find me, and then he vanished without a trace. Did Donovan Lawrence kill him?’
She needed to know. She had to!
Snapping back to reality, Donovan Lawrence suddenly grew tense. "You were reborn, too?"
"Yes."
The moment he got his confirmation, Donovan Lawrence laughed. "I knew it, I knew it... But so what? You’re still a useless piece of trash!"
As if deliberately trying to provoke her, he spoke glibly, "I told my buddies that your dad had plenty of money, so they went after him. As for whether he’s alive or dead, I don’t know. Heh heh heh... but I’m sure he’s dead..."
"Then you can go die too."
Sue Lawrence drew the hidden Bone-cutting Knife.
"Wha—"
Before Donovan Lawrence could react, the Bone-cutting Knife thrust upward and into his heart. His eyes widened as he stared at Sue Lawrence. "You..."
"Too bad you’re the real piece of trash. You don’t even have anything worth plundering. Oh, your Luck Value is up to 3, though. Tsk, tsk... well, I guess it’s better than nothing."
As Donovan Lawrence listened to Sue Lawrence’s disdainful words while she took his Luck Value, he said in shock, "You... you have... a Superpower?"
’Didn’t she not have a Superpower in the last life?’
"That’s right. Didn’t I tell you in our last life? I have a Superpower. Too bad none of you believed me!"
Activating Skill: Yours is mine!
[Acquired: Luck Value +3!]
’Sigh. How pathetic!’
Looking at the thoroughly dead Donovan Lawrence, she saw his three personal Skills were also taken. Unfortunately, she couldn’t pick and choose. As long as she plundered, she had to take the good with the bad.
She tossed the corpse into her Storage Space. Then she picked up Donovan Lawrence’s phone and sent a text message to four people: Miles Finch, Adam Zane, Tia Norris, and Mia Keller.
The message was the same for everyone.
Donovan Lawrence: Help me, Ja...
After sending the message, Sue Lawrence turned off the phone, tossed it into her Storage Space as well, and then took a different route, walking quickly toward where she had parked her car.
But before she got there, she received a text from Mia Keller.
