Chapter 91: Chapter 91: Using You to Block Bullets

"Anyone who knows how to shoot, take one step forward!"

Silas Hawthorne turned to look.

Meanwhile, back at the base, Silas Hawthorne’s voice echoed from the large screen.

"Know how to shoot? What ordinary person knows how to do that?"

"Yeah, none of us have ever even touched a gun."

"Even the three from the Lawrence family... they’ve probably never touched a gun either, right?"

Everyone was whispering in front of the screen.

Adam Zane couldn’t help but gripe, "Sue Lawrence really doesn’t know how to do anything. Why on earth did Silas Hawthorne bring her along?"

Pamela Sutton, also staring at the large screen, snorted. "She’s just sucking up. Wasn’t it said she started cozying up to Silas Hawthorne during the meeting?"

Tia Norris had mentioned it before—how Sue Lawrence, desperate to curry favor, had brazenly gone right up to Silas Hawthorne to talk to him. Utterly shameless.

"The ones who can’t shoot will probably be left behind. Sue Lawrence has all the luck. She dumps our Jason and immediately latches onto Silas Hawthorne. I wonder if he minds that she has a son?"

As the small group muttered amongst themselves, Pamela Sutton’s eyes rolled so far back they nearly touched the ceiling. "In her dreams. This is a live broadcast. I refuse to believe no one will call her out for doing nothing!"

Pamela Sutton was just waiting to see Sue Lawrence get called out.

However, on the screen, when Silas Hawthorne finished speaking, both Elliot Lawrence and Sue Lawrence took a step forward. Only Mia Keller remained standing in place with an awkward expression. ’Um, it seems like I’m the only one who doesn’t know how to do anything. So awkward.’

"Sue Lawrence knows how to shoot?"

Miles Finch was stunned.

"Maybe the siblings learned it abroad. With the Lawrence family’s assets, it wouldn’t be strange for them to study overseas. The rich sure have it good!"

Adam Zane snorted. He still remembered Jason Sterling saying that when he was practicing boxing, Sue Lawrence had tagged along to learn, too. So, she must have learned about firearms as well.

But no one was more shocked than Elliot Lawrence, because he knew his little sister didn’t know how to shoot at all.

Vincent Lawrence was the one who had taken him to learn about firearms. At the time, Sue was still young and couldn’t handle the recoil, so she didn’t learn. ’But since when can Sue Lawrence shoot?’

He looked at Sue Lawrence in shock, just as Silas Hawthorne began to personally hand out weapons to everyone.

"If you encounter resistance, kill them."

The man’s voice was cold and merciless, as if he were talking about something perfectly ordinary.

Then he added, "Make sure you can identify the medical personnel."

With that, he switched to channel 3, a separate, encrypted channel, and said to Sue Lawrence, "You stick with me. We’ll be using the Robbing Superpower along the way. Whether it’s a medical staff’s Skill or any other Skill, we’re taking them all."

Sue Lawrence braced herself.

’The mission’s starting.’

Silas Hawthorne wasn’t just out to search for supplies; he was also out to stockpile Skills.

"What if there are too many for me to rob?"

Silas Hawthorne seemed to have already considered this. He tossed her a small device that looked like a USB drive. "Store them in here."

"How many can it hold?"

"Don’t worry. It’s enough for this mission."

Sue Lawrence examined the small gadget with even more curiosity.

It had a metal casing. The port was densely packed like a honeycomb, but the details were as fine as a strand of hair. Aside from the dense black dots, she couldn’t see anything else. It was enough to nearly trigger her trypophobia.

Soon, images sent back by the robots appeared on the computer. Many medical staff members were tied up and thrown in a corner of the basement. The entire hospital had been taken over by a group of people. Among them, Sue Lawrence even saw the man with the Instant Teleportation Superpower.

’Ahem... just saying, if I were to secretly pocket a Superpower, no one would notice, right?’

"Are you sure you can do this?"

Silas Hawthorne’s worried voice came through the helmet’s comm.

Seeing that they were still on the encrypted channel, Sue Lawrence smiled. "Don’t worry."

’Although I’ve never learned to use a gun, I did rob a Superpower: B Level Firearms.’

’This one Skill should be enough. Even if I can’t score a one-shot kill, I should at least be able to hit an arm or a leg, right?’

’Plus, with my Jumping Power, wall-climbing Ability, and Perception, I’ll barely even need to use things like Wind Blade or the Ice Control Skill.’

Hearing the relaxed tone in her voice, Silas Hawthorne finally nodded. "Anything else to add?"

Sue Lawrence thought for a moment, then activated her Superpower, the Eye of Barrier Breaking.

’The ice sealing the hospital is the barrier blocking our vision. I wonder if my Eye of Barrier Breaking can see through it.’

Soon, Sue Lawrence’s voice came through. "There are patrols on every floor, two to four people each. There are also patients in some of the rooms..."

’She can even see that?’

Silas Hawthorne was shocked once again.

"Do they have weapons?"

This was what Silas Hawthorne wanted to know most.

"No firearms, but they have knives. There are also Superpower Users."

"Leave the Superpower Users to me."

Silas Hawthorne said calmly, then switched to the public channel. "Robots, prepare to break the ice."

Digging down through the snow layer was impractical. It would be faster to simply break through the ice encasing the building.

Victor Keller confirmed the order and left with his men, following several robots.

"Ethan Ford, take a team and stay here to guard the sleds. Mia Keller, you stay too. Hopefully, your good luck can protect our sleds."

Mia Keller nodded awkwardly. She had listed her Ability as "good luck," but she’d never actually tested it. Still, she felt her luck wasn’t half bad...

But before she could say anything, Silas Hawthorne had already led his team forward.

"Sue, stay behind me."

Elliot Lawrence had also switched to the encrypted channel.

Sue Lawrence shook her head. "No need, Bro. I’m a decent shot. I can usually hit my target."

"..."

’When did she learn that? Is it another Superpower?’

Elliot Lawrence didn’t ask any more questions, but he still did his best to stay close and protect his sister.

「Inside the hospital.」

Blade’s expression darkened as he watched the group approaching from outside.

They looked like an official force. With that enormous sled and robots clearing the path, even though he couldn’t see their faces, their equipment alone was incredibly intimidating. They even had guns.

"Boss, they look like government people. What do we do?"

’There’s no way we’d win a direct confrontation. But if we don’t fight, are we supposed to just give up and be captured?’

Blade was a ruthless man, after all. He snorted. "Go. Tell the brothers to disguise themselves as ordinary people first. There’s no way these guys can tell who’s a civilian and who’s a thug. When the time comes, we’ll play it by ear. If we can kill one and strip them of their gear, we’ll be able to go plunder supplies somewhere else."

The extreme cold of the apocalypse hadn’t reached its lowest point yet. Although the hospital had plenty of medicine, its other supplies were not abundant. Blade wanted to go out and search for supplies himself, but the temperature was too low. If someone came to their door to deliver cold-weather gear, however, that would be a different story.

As long as he had cold-weather gear, he could go outside. Even the nearest convenience stores and small supermarkets around the hospital had tons of supplies, more than they could ever use!

’So what if they have guns?’

He refused to believe that as soon as these people came in, they would be able to tell the good guys from the bad guys!

Hearing this, everyone started to flatter him. "As expected of you, Blade!"

"Great idea, Blade! Just you wait, I’ll get you a set of their clothes. Then, we can go out and find supplies too!"

Blade sneered. "Go. Grab a few doctors and nurses. We’ll blend in with them. If things really go south, we’ll push them out to block the bullets!"
