Chapter 254: The Stash

"Trash... trash... trash..."

Anna went through the dropped items left by the bandit group, and they had nothing even though they were quite notorious.

"They must’ve hid their stuff somewhere in case they died. I guess they were prepared to get new game cards if they happened to die and retrieve their robbed items with new characters."

Fang Raon concluded.

"That seems to be the case, brother. If you were them, where would you hide them?"

Anna asked.

"They’ve made a name for themselves. So, it means that they have robbed a lot of people. Because of that, I would cross out any inns, bathouses, et cetera.

"They have cleaners that would regularly go inside their rooms to make sure everything is tidy and clean. They couldn’t possibly hide all of their robbed stuff.

"Some cleaners could get greedy and take the stuff for themselves. Players are greedy, but that doesn’t mean locals can’t also be."

Fang Raon said.

"They couldn’t have possibly purchased an entire building for themselves. Newer players simply lack that kind of wealth..."

Anna said while pondering deeply.

"...Hmm?"

At that moment, Fang Raon checked out the items that the bandits dropped and noticed a shovel that was still in good condition.

"A shovel. They must’ve dug a hole and tossed the stuff there."

Fang Raon said.

"Then that stuff can be anywhere!"

Anna groaned in annoyance and looked around the woods that spanned far and wide. It would be impossible to find the exact location where the items were buried.

"I don’t think they buried the stuff in some random location. These woods are huge. They might never find it."

Fang Raon said.

"They could’ve made a map to that location."

Anna said.

"They didn’t drop any maps, see."

Fang Raon pointed at the pile of items, and there wasn’t anything except some weapons, armor, potions, and the money pouches that barely had anything.

"They must’ve thought that if they died, they better not be carrying the map around with them. They might’ve left it out somewhere."

Anna said.

But then, Fang Raon shook his head and crossed his arms.

"I don’t think so. What if someone found the map? A player might think of it as a treasure map and go hunting for the stuff. Too risky. Especially since that map also needs to be in a very concealed location, and they might forget where it is.

"I think they buried the stuff somewhere recognizable. Where they know where they need to know without any maps."

Fang Raon said.

"There are some landmarks in the woods that are recognizable..."

Anna said.

"Yes, but even those can be hard to find in the woods, since the woods are so large. What is one place on the entire floor that is easy to find?"

Fang Raon asked with a smile on his face.

His sister, Anna, touched her chin and thought about the question posed by her brother.

And then, she looked at the ground under her. She was standing on the Long Road. She moved her gaze along the road to where it curved out of sight.

Atop the hill, peeking over the tall trees, she saw the tower, where the Long Road was going to.

"At the tower?"

Anna said, surprised.

"Somewhere near the tower would be my guess."

Fang Raon picked up the shovel from the ground, moved it over his shoulder, and then started whistling a tune as he began to walk down the path.

With a bright gaze, Anna excitedly followed behind her brother, as she felt like they were on a treasure hunt.

A short while later, they arrived at the tower. It was as big as ever. Its doors were tightly shut.

"Look for ground that seemed to have been dug just recently."

Fang Raon said.

Anna nodded, and they started looking for anything suspicious in the ground, and they started near the tower doors.

But they doubted that they were crazy enough to dig right in front of the doors, so they extended their search to the back of the tower.

And at that moment...

"Brother!"

Anna shouted and waved him over, and Fang Raon sped over to her and saw slightly stomped ground in front of a tree.

It even had "X" carved with a shovel into the dirt.

"...They are actually stupid."

Anna wryly smiled.

She wanted to laugh as those bandits were stupid enough to carve "X" to the ground as if they wanted their stash to be found!

"I guess they didn’t think that anyone would come all the way here."

Fang Raon said as they were right at the backyard of the tower, where no player would usually go, as they would rather go inside the tower.

"Dig it up!"

Anna shouted.

Fang Raon stabbed the shovel into the dirt and started to dig, throwing the dirt beside the hole.

After a few seconds, he hit something solid, and he expanded the hole slightly, revealing a treasure chest in the ground.

Raon grabbed the treasure chest from its rope and pulled it out of the hole. It was actually quite heavy.

"Open!"

Anna kicked the treasure chest open, and inside, they came across an assortment of square coins, items, and scrolls.

"Nice!"

She said excitedly, and she went through the items and took a few for herself, as those were Tank equipment.

’There are mostly Warrior items, but there are some for Mage as well, but because of the King Angry Rat quest, I already have better items than those in the chest.

’I am quite curious about those scrolls though.’

Fang Raon went through the scrolls, and some he was actually quite interested in, as those were for the Warrior class.

’I actually wouldn’t mind having this skill for my Warrior character, but in the end, it’s just a Tier II skill, and I really need to start getting higher-tiered skills for my main account.’

Fang Raon thought.

He then went through the rest of the scrolls, and there didn’t seem to be any for Mage, but at last, with the final scroll, he finally found a spell scroll.

"Why didn’t those guys take these scrolls for themselves?"

Anna asked curiously.

"I guess they had trouble splitting these things evenly. I saw that they had at least two Warriors, so they must’ve had a hard time deciding who should get the scrolls."

Fang Raon said.

"Classic. I also thought of something. Those bandits must be currently racing to come here to take these all for themselves.

"There is no honor among thieves."

Anna said with a giggle.

"Yeah, all of them must want this stuff for themselves. It is a lot of valuable stuff that they can also sell. Unluckily for them, it’s ours now."

Fang Raon said with a chuckle.

Then, he took a good look at the spell scroll.

’Smoke bomb... It can be used to escape or create a diversion. I don’t mind having this, even though it’s not the flashiest type of spell.’

Fang Raon opened the scroll wide, and the information of the spell entered his mind, and he suddenly knew how to cast it.

In that moment.

His grimoire snapped open, and another page was suddenly filled with words, and even a picture of smoke was drawn out in great detail.

Snap~! The book snapped shut immediately after.

"Here, brother."

In that moment, Anna handed him a pouch of money, and once Raon opened it, he found 17,500 square coins inside.

"They sure managed to steal a lot."

He said in surprise, and he stored the money in his interface, and with his King Angry Rat money, he actually started to be quite wealthy.

Way wealthier than any ordinary first floorer would ever be.

The rest of the stuff Anna stored inside her inventory, as they really had no need for it, so they were just going to sell it.

"I’ll sell this stuff tomorrow, and I’ll give you your share once you log on."

Anna said.

"Yup."

Fang Raon nodded.

"Should we put the treasure chest back into the hole, fill it up, and make them dig it all up just to find nothing?"

Anna asked with a giggle.

She was really mischievous, but Fang Raon just chuckled and shook his head.

"Nah, I’d much rather have them see the dug-open hole and the treasure chest and come to an instant realization that they got nothing left."

Fang Raon said.

Anna giggled and wished that they could stay here to watch their reaction, but they sadly didn’t have all day for that.

They walked back to the front of the tower and took a good look at the tower.

"Are you ready, brother?"

Anna asked.

"Yeah."

In that moment, Anna pulled out the Tower Key from her inventory and inserted it into the keyhole, and suddenly, the doors of the tower banged open.

"Let’s do this..."

Anna had an evil glint in her eye, and she then pulled out her heavy sword and walked into the tower.

Fang Raon summoned his gray grimoire and followed right behind her, and at that moment, the doors slammed shut behind them.
