Chapter 183: The Playful Demon

"We’ll be seeing demons soon?"

The sudden remark caught everyone off guard, but Claire recovered quickly.

"What Noah means is that out entry point isn’t random. There are either demons already causing trouble here or they are about to appear." She nodded as she pieced it together.

"It fits. From the background we were given, demons are experts at staying hidden. If our arrival were truly random, we might wander for ages without encountering anything. Even joining an organization like Demon Suppression Division would take time. But this is an instance. It is not designed to drag on for months or even a year."

"So we will be pulled into the main storyline almost immediately," Ethan said as he understood.

"Like in the Mythical Three Kingdom Red Cliff Scenario," Zara added. "The Weston Forces did not take long to launch their attack."

This was not their first instance, and they all understood how these systems worked. With that explanation, everything became clear.

No instance would allow players to remain indefinitely. Even Advancement Instances, which took the longest to complete, still had strict limits. Once that limit was reached, the system would trigger a forced eviction, just like purge in the Challenge Showdown at the Forbidden City scenario.

Although World of Demons was a Third Order Advancement Instance, there was no way it world last for ten days or more. They would encounter demons very soon.

At that moment, ten minute was up.

The ten of them were officially into the instance.

Despite all their discussion and planning, only sixty seconds had passed. As Third Order Awakeners with attributes far beyond one hundred thousand, their minds worked at incredible speed, allowing them to communicate almost instantly.

Noah took a slow breath, his eyes sharpening.

"The ambient energy here is incredibly dense."

A faint smile appeared on his face. He made the right choice. This place was rich with spiritual veins and far more abundant than he had expected.

He still had several Third Order exclusive rewards in hand, so there was no need to worry about obtaining spiritual veins.

"Huh, something about the atmosphere feels off." Lily looked at the passing crowd with a frown.

Earlier, she had not paid much attention to the surrounding, assuming it was just an ordinary bustling market. But now that they had fully entered the instance, something immediately felt wrong.

Fear.

Unease.

Restlessness.

"Did you hear? Steward Alric’s entire family in Rotshade Alley was slaughtered. Not even a dog was left alive."

"That’s not all. My cousin heard from someone nearby that everyone on an old street died. Now no one dares to go there."

"Why have there been so many murders lately? Did some powerful gang enter the city?"

"I heard it might be demons causing trouble..."

"Quiet. Stop talking nonsense."

The surrounding crowd whispered among themselves, discussing the recent bloody incidents. Many wore pale expressions, afraid that the same fate might fall upon them.

Very few dared to mention demons. And whenever someone did, they quickly fell silent.

"It seems that Vemora Dynasty has been suppressing the news about demons," Noah said calmly. "It makes sense. If the existence of such creatures became public, it would cause widespread panic."

"Everyone, Valtherion City has become far too dangerous. We cannot just sit back and do nothing. Otherwise, it will be our turn next. We must demand an explanation from the authorities." A tall and sturdy man stepped forward and shouted.

"It’s Butcher Aeron Voss."

"Call him Mr. Aeron. He’s right. We’ll follow his lead."

A short, stout young man spoke excitedly, "Those constables usually bully us and act superior. Now it’s their turn to step up and restore order in Valtherion City."

"That’s right. The lives of common people matter too. The authorities owe us an answer," a tall, thin man added.

"I didn’t expect the people in this instance to have such a rebellious streak," Zara said with a click of her tongue.

"If I were in their place, seeing so many brutal killings, I’d be furious too," Leo replied with a faint laugh. "It’s only natural to turn to the authorities for answers."

"Those bloody cases were probably the work of demons. We just don’t know where they’re hiding yet." Ethan scanned the surroundings, trying to locate any trace of them.

"Insight."

Noah said nothing as he quietly activated his talent, his gaze sweeping across the area.

Most of the people present appeared to be ordinary civilians. Their ranks were only First Order. Even so, they still had templates, with the weakest being Elite grade and some even reaching Leader grade. Compared to the civilians from the Mythical Three Kingdom Red Cliff scenario, they were far stronger.

Then Noah’s gaze suddenly paused.

A different panel appeared before his eyes.

[ Black Pig Demon ]

[ Rank Three Order ]

[Strength : 80,000 ]

The demons had revealed themselves.

When Noah clearly saw the demon’s identity, he froze for a moment. The Black Pig Demon was none other than Butcher Aeron.

Realizing something, Noah immediately shifted his gaze toward the short, stout young man and the tall, thin man nearby.

[ Armored Earth Demon ]

[ Lower Rank Demon, Ordinary grade ]

[ Rank Three Order ]

Just as he expected, the two of them were demons as well.

Noah fell silent.

"...Right. Of course."

At this moment, fear from the recent massacres had already thrown the crowd into panic. When Butcher Aeron stepped forward and spoke with righteous conviction, he easily stirred their emotions. Within moments, hundreds of people gathered and began marching toward the government office, with more joining along the way.

Rose and the others also prepared to split up. Veltherion City was very big, and the civilians were heading toward the government office, not the Demon Suppression Division. There was no need for all of them to follow.
