Chapter 187: Skyfall Strike
The Epic grade Void Shock, evolved from War Stomp, had resolved its two biggest weakness.
As the name suggest, Void Shock doesn’t just shake the earth, it also disturbs the void itself. No matter where he was, Noah could activate this skill without limitation.
Its range had also increased dramatically. A Level 2 Void Shock could cover a radius of twelve kilometers, and this range would continue to grow as the skill leveled up.
More importantly, unlike War Stomp, which dealt damage and control in a single burst, Void Shock delivered continuous control and sustained damage. While this naturally meant higher energy consumption, it also highlighted just how powerful the skill had become. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
"What a massive improvement."
Noah couldn’t hide his excitement. Compared to perfect grade skills, an Epic Grade skill wasn’t just stronger, it was a complete qualitative transformation.
"Next... Mountain River Collapse."
A hint of anticipation appeared on his face. Even before upgrading, this had been one of his strongest burst skills. He was eager to see what changes on Epic Grade breakthrough would bring.
"Continue."
The words "Mountain River Collapse" disappeared from his attribute panel.
Two hours later, the breakthrough was complete. A flood of memories surged into Noah’s mind.
He began practicing his punches.
With each movement, his technique grew sharper and more refined. His power surged with every strike. The ground beneath him shattered repeatedly, crack spreading outward in all directions. Even the void itself began to fracture.
In the final moment of the memory, he threw a single punch.
The sky split open, torn apart by a massive rupture, as if the world were collapsing.
A moment later, after absorbing the memories, Noah looked at his attribute panel.
[Skyfall Strike Lv0+2][Quality: Epic][Type: Active Skill][This punch can overturn the heavens and earth. Attack Power +600%]
Unlike Thunder Escape and Void Shock, Skyfall Strike hadn’t changes much. It continued the path of Mountain River Collapse, focusing purely on maximum burst damage.
At its peak, Mountain River Collapse had a 5.4x damage multiplier, while a Level Skyfall Strike already reached 7x. The increase wasn’t huge, but once fully leveled, it could reach a 12x multiplier, which was far from insignificant.
More importantly, while its power had increased, the energy consumption hadn’t. This was likely due to Noah’s deeper mastery of the skill, reducing unnecessary waste and allowing the same energy to produce greater force.
Noah wasn’t disappointed.
Compared to Thunder Shadow Step and War Stomp, Mountain River Collapse had far fewer weakness to begin with. Now, with its upgraded version maintaining the same consumption, the result was already impressive. After all, Skyfall Strike was an Epic Grade skill, and under normal circumstances, such power would come with a significant increase in cost.
With three Epic-grade skills, Noah’s strength rose dramatically. He could already feel the urge to test them, eager to find a worthy opponent.
Right on cue, the intelligence gathered by Rose and the others had been nearly completed.
...
Noah flipped through the information in his hand.
No one knew where the demons came from. Even the Green Snake Demon had no memory of its own origins.
Demons were masters of disguise. After devouring a human, they could take on that person’s appearance, making it almost impossible to tell the difference from the outside. This was the main reason they were so difficult to eliminate.
You never knew if a friend or family member had already been silently replaced.
Fortunately, their disguise was only skin-deep. Once that outer layer was broken, they could no longer hide and would reveal their true forms.
They also lacked the ability to read memories, which meant their disguises were never perfect. Otherwise, the chaos caused by demons would be far more terrifying than it already was.
Both the Demon Suppression Division and civilian forces had ways to identify them, mainly through blood testing. No matter how well a demon disguised itself, it couldn’t produce human blood. Because of this, large organizations were relatively safe from infiltration.
Noah skimmed through the details for a while before turning to the final pages.
What truly caught his interest were the high-level demons.
Mid-level demons could easily wipe out an entire city, let alone high-level demons. Their numbers were extremely small, but their power was beyond imagination. The appearance of a high-level demon was nothing short of a catastrophe. Both the Demon Suppression Division and the civilian forces had detailed records of them.
"Hm? Only two high-level demons?"
Noah was taken aback. According to the records, only two high-level demons had ever been documented.
"There has to be a third. Has it not appeared yet, or is it hiding too well to be detected by the Demon Suppression Division and civilian forces?"
The mission required him to eliminate three high-level demons, so a third one had to exist.
Since the dungeon wouldn’t allow them to remain here indefinitely, the third demon would likely reveal itself soon.
If it still hadn’t appeared, then there was only one explanation left, it had already surfaced long ago but was never recorded.
Noah frowned.
"Forget it. I’ll deal with the two that have already appeared first."
Unlike low- and mid-level demons, high-level demons were far too powerful. With the strength of the Velmora Dynasty, they had no means to eliminate them. Because of this, tracking their whereabouts wasn’t particularly difficult.
In the Great Velmora Dynasty, mid-level demons were referred to as Great Demons, while high-level demons were called Demon Kings.
These two Demon Kings made no effort to hide.
One of them had occupied three prefectures and declared itself the ruler of a Demon Country. Within its domain, demons roamed freely, while the human population was treated as livestock, raised as blood food. Its crimes were far too many to count.
The other Demon King was far more low-key. It had taken over a single prefectural city, surrounding it with an endless white mist that covered a hundred-mile radius. Any human or animal that entered the mist never returned.
After a brief moment of thought, Noah chose his target.
The second Demon King was too mysterious. No one knew its true form, and it had remained dormant in one place for a hundred years without making a move. There was no urgency in dealing with it.
In contrast, the first Demon King was both high-profile and cunning. If it sensed danger, it would likely flee. Taking it down first was the best choice.
Noah didn’t hesitate. After confirming his target, he transformed into a bolt of lightning and shot into the sky, disappearing into the distance.
