Chapter 21: To The Residence of Giants! Part-3.

As a new monster came into Zephyr’s view, it became clear pretty soon that Zephyr and the entirety of humanity still knew far too little about the horrors of this world.

The monster that came flying in Zephyr’s direction was shaped like a typical snail, but except for that body shape that resembled a snail, it was something completely beyond comprehension.

The creature could fly in the sky at the speed of a bicycle; its entire snail-like body was made of an elongated humanoid torso.

The humanoid skull of that creature was shaped like a snail with its ears working like two antennas, and a very weird and disturbing grin was etched on the creature’s face.

The snail shell of the creature was made up of hundreds of humans’ upper torsos joined up together with their heads hanging around like pendulums of a clock!

And each of those hanging heads had a look of terror and pure agony etched on their faces as they screamed very loudly!

*AHHHHH!!!!* *AHHHHH!!!!* *AHHHHH!!!!*

Each scream was distinct and unique from the others; it was almost as if hundreds of dozens of humans were screaming at the same time, but their voices were still easily distinguishable from one another.

As the creature flew through the sky, its entire body leaked black blood that spilled on the ground below and immediately started sizzling like acid!

Just by looking at the creature once, Zephyr’s eyes went bloodshot and started bleeding like crazy, forcing him to hurriedly avert his gaze and stop looking at the creature directly.

’What in the actual f*ck is that thing!?’

’It can do mental damage just from looking at it once!?’

Every scream created by those hanging heads created powerful invasive mental damage waves that hit Zephyr’s mental defenses over and over like sea waves crashing into a hill!

Thankfully, Zephyr’s perfect stealth worked this time; the creature did not notice Zephyr lying down on the ground and passed by a few dozen meters above him.

A lot of blackish blood sprayed on Zephyr’s shield, but the shield was very durable and resistant to damage; thus, it only had minimal effects on it.

Zephyr waited for a few minutes for the monster to fly away and its mental attacks to disappear before finally getting up from the ground and shaking off whatever blood was still sizzling on his shield.

[Inivincible_Bob: Urk, I feel like I might vomit! What was that thing!?]

[Rolling_Crocodile: Urgh... I feel like my head has turned into a mesh just from looking at it! Were all those humans!?] 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

[Shining_Lorraine: This is simply unscientific!! What kind of creature was that!? Don’t tell me it’s the type of psychopath that rips human’s upper torso and then attaches them to its own body like some twisted form of art!?]

[Invincible_Bob: No, I think this is something far worse... the snail body also looked like a twisted and deformed humanoid body... it’s possible this was just a bunch of humans forcefully merged and mutated into this strange shape!]

[Rolling_Crocodile: Urk!... Although I am sleeping... I still feel that I might vomit; that was too ugly!! URK!...]

Nobody had ever seen a creature like that ever before in the previous player’s livestreams; it was something completely new and something very bizarre.

’My intuition is telling me that this is not a good sign...’

Zephyr did not have the time to stay put in this place and contemplate the various bizarre mysteries of this world at the moment.

So he could only stare at the direction the monster went to for a while to make sure it wasn’t coming back before starting to move forward once again.

’I really want to leave this sh*tty place as fast as possible...’

To Zephyr’s dismay, he encountered similar flying snail-type monsters quite frequently the more he went in the direction of the giant’s residence, causing his expression to become solemn.

"The farther I go... the more their number seems to be increasing... don’t tell me that these weird snail-type monsters live in close proximity with the giants..."

Zephyr had no knowledge about how the settlement of giants functioned.

But he knew that in human colonies and settlements, insects and other rodents are very common.

So, he feared that these snails might be the so-called ’insects and rodents’ of the settlement of giants, and their numbers might be in the hundreds of thousands!

’Even with my perfect stealth ability... the chance of me ending up face to face with one of them is very high... I need to be more cautious when moving forward from here on...’

Although the situation was quickly becoming more and more dangerous, Zephyr had no other choice but to keep moving forward while believing in the powerful defensive capabilities of his body.

Due to the heavy presence of those flying snails, Zephyr’s walking speed slowed down considerably, but still he managed to make steady progress, and around 3 A.M. in the morning, Zephyr found something even more terrifying.

’This is... a rotting corpse?’

A corpse of a giant lay on the ash desert with hundreds of thousands of snails flying around it like flies and eating its innards.

The smell of decay and rot was so thick in the area that Zephyr almost vomited from that horrible stench!

Looking from afar, Zephyr realized that the giant had its entire upper torso blasted into pieces and its intestines and organs were all spilling out of its lower torso with dark red blood splattered everywhere on the ground.

Not too far from the gigantic corpse was a massive eyeball, lying on the grey ash, staring in Zephyr’s direction with horror, resentment, and hatred still alive in it until now.

Looking at that eyeball, Zephyr felt very uncomfortable, so he averted his gaze and walked past it.

"What could have possibly done something like this... This giant seems like he was killed in a single attack, as his entire upper torso was likely blown apart by one powerful blow..."

"This begs the question... What kind of being could have been strong enough to do something like this?"
