Chapter 53: To The Third Trial! Part-1.
[Rolling_Crocodile: As expected of the sect master, the great tank god Zephyr Reid, even a monster with laser beams and insanely powerful acidic venom was nothing in front of him!]
[Blue_Dinosaur: By the way... is it just me or our great tank god becoming even stronger!? He didn’t seem this strong when he fought Jade Beauty Yan Xinran!]
[Invincible_Bob: No way. It’s likely that the jade beauty Yan Xinran is too strong and that’s why we didn’t notice it back then but the great tank god is definitely many times stronger than these normal monsters!]
[Shining_Lorriane: Goddess Xinran look fragile and weak but she’s indeed quite strong to be able to tank an uppercut from our powerful muscle maniac.]
[Jumping_Koala: Being strong in close combat is just a part of her many abilities; I like that blood magic of hers. She’s extremely versatile with it!]
[Dancing_Snake: By the way... I have a question. What if Xinran had controlled our anchor’s body and didn’t kill his consciousness? What would happen then? Would the anchor get stuck with her forever and as he won’t really die, the stream would continue forever?] 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
[Wise_Rat: Now that you mention it... if that happened, wouldn’t that mean the world would be free from the danger of this horror game!? We would just be sacrificing one person’s freedom for the sake of entire human race!!]
[Dancing_Snake: Indeed, as long as the anchor isn’t killed, the stream will not stop, and so no new player will be chosen. In other words, we will technically be free from the fear of this horrible alien power!]
[Invincible_Bob: That’s just bullsh*t! Nobody knows how the horror game would react to this. What if the horror game just declared the host dead once he becomes Xinran’s subordinate?
Not only will we lose someone as promising as the anchor, we will only increase the risk of something bad happening.]
[Wise_Rat: The result is worth the risk; for the sake of the entire race, it’s no big deal to sacrifice a person or two!]
[Rolling_Dinosaur: Why don’t you do it then! Go inside the game and sacrifice yourself! F*cking retard!]
Seeing the chaos going on in the comment section, Zephyr felt fortunate that he hadn’t openly declared that he was actually capable of seeing the comment section.
’This is exactly the reason why I wasn’t willing to show off my powers...’
Once people find out that he can see their comments, they will try to communicate with him and will try to interfere with his decisions.
There are all sorts of people in the world, and many of their ideologies are incompatible with each other.
Just like how these random people were demanding he be a ’Hero’ and sacrifice himself for the sake of greater good, many other people would have appeared in the comments to tell him to do their bidding.
Of course, the comments can’t affect the reality he was in, but the main issue was ’Belief Points’.
People’s comments can affect his BP collection rate, and if enough people became brainwashed into thinking that he should sacrifice himself or do something controversial, he would lose his BP.
His current situation was like a world-level star with an insanely big fan following, and any mistake he made would affect his popularity and thus in turn destroy his BP collection rate.
In a scenario where he had to choose between saving his own life or sacrificing himself for the world, people would immediately lose all faith in him if he chose to save his own life.
Zephyr didn’t want that kind of dilemma to weigh him down.
’Monsters do not exist just inside of this horror game world... humanity has more monsters roaming among it than the entirety of this corrupted world has to offer.’
’It’s better to be safe than sorry...’
Monsters were predictable; their primary goal was straight-up violence, but humans were complicated beings that could not be predicted through normal measurements and rules.
A man can split apart a mountain in two just for the sake of his dead wife with nothing but a hammer and a chisel, so it was not a wise idea to underestimate the human spirit. (Source: Real-life story of Dashrath Manji, ’The man who moved mountains...’)
’I am no hero and I certainly don’t want to sacrifice my own life, even if I have decided to leave behind a legacy for humanity, I won’t take my life less seriously either...’
’Even if there are dangers in the future, I can’t stop my journey midway now that I have decided to dedicate myself to it. I won’t die or become someone’s pet because I have much greater things to do in life...’
A smile appeared on Zephyr’s face as he walked downstairs in utter darkness.
’I have an entire world to explore! Mere trials can’t stop me!’
Just as Zephyr spoke those words, the stupid sparrow suddenly appeared out of the wall and shouted at the top of its lungs!
"Congratulations, Challenger! You have completed the second part of the trail, ’The Trail of Preservation and Determination!’ You can move on to the third part of the trial now!"
Hearing those words, a look of confusion appeared on Zephyr’s face.
"I completed the second part of the trial? When? What are you even talking about?"
As Zephyr was too busy thinking about various things in his head, he hadn’t noticed until now that he had been walking downstairs for almost half an hour and still hadn’t reached anywhere!
He was actually looping inside a curved space-time, and the stairs were literally repeating themselves over and over!
The only way out of this place was to prove your firm confidence and unwavering spirit of determination to the magical space-time fabric of this looped staircase!
Only when the stupid sparrow magically reappeared and told him about the fact that he had completed the trial did Zephyr snap out of his own world inside his head and finally realized that there was something wrong with the stairs again!
’I genuinely don’t understand what obsession the creator of this trial has with the stairs! Didn’t the sparrow say earlier that the stair trail was complete!?’
’Now you just changed the name of the trail and added more stairs to it again in the name of preservation!? Wtf is wrong with you!?’
