Chapter 74: Chapter 74: The Demon Seed

As soon as Neo activated [Vellsing Transformation], his muscles bulged like a hulk, gaining an igneous sheen. His skin grew a little dark with cracks of volcanic energy engraved across it.

His height also increased to 3 meters.

His eyes gained a crimson glow.

In this state, his raw physical stats increased by 250%. For example, his 23 points of strength increased to 57, almost 10 times that of a regular human.

In simple words, his tough physique gave him the capabilities to withstand the water pressure at 2000 meters deep.

Whoosh!

Without delay, he dove down deeper in search of that brilliant glow.

Maybe that was the glow of a legendary S-grade mana stone, he assumed.

This only fueled his hunger more.

However, he did not realize in time that the initial blue glow slowly changed to a deep violet one. In the darkness of the abyss, this light stood out as a beacon of unforgiving horror.

Any normal Beyonder would not even dare to dive this deep, much less think of staying sane after witnessing this. But in Neo’s perspective, this was the path to power.

However, just then, a deep, rumbling voice echoed from the abyss.

"WHO IS THERE?"

The sound alone sent a massive shockwave through the water, making it impossible for Neo to immediately see what kind of creature lay hidden in the trenches. But Neo knew a creature of this magnitude was not something to be messed with lightly.

So, he decided to play it cunning.

"I am Vellsing. Who might you be?" Neo spoke, his voice carrying a naturally devilish tone due to the Vellsing Transformation.

The creature interpreted the deep, rumbling voice as belonging to someone truly demonic.

"A DEMON? HERE? AFTER THIS LONG?" it rumbled, the sheer volume shaking the seabed, though the tone seemed oddly happy. "ARE YOU HERE FOR THE LEGACY, LITTLE ONE?"

Neo did not hesitate and decided to play along with the assumption.

"Yes! Only through the Legacy can I become the strongest and save our kind," he replied, sounding deeply passionate.

"EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT!" the creature’s voice boomed with excitement.

"So what do I need to do to get this legacy?" Neo asked.

< Simple. Our demon race is on the brink of extinction. Therefore, we want the best of the best vessel to host the Primordial Demon Seed, so they may become the strongest to stand against those foul holy creatures. And to prove you are a worthy vessel, you must commit one of the seven taboo sins. Choose your path:

For the Sin of Pride: You must find a grand, historic city of peace and force its absolute ruler to execute their own innocent subjects in the public square just to beg for your mercy, proving that their laws and morals are nothing compared to your sovereign whim.

For the Sin of Greed: You must intentionally orchestrate a devastating famine or economic collapse across an entire continent, hoarding all available food and life-saving medicine in your private vaults, just to watch the desperate masses offer up their children and their freedom to you for a single scrap.

For the Sin of Lust: You must break and corrupt a pure, holy maiden of the high church, systematically stripping away her faith and innocence until she willingly betrays her own family and slaughters her followers to earn a place in your bed.

Or you must have sex with a thousand females, binding them into your sovereign will.

For the Sin of Envy: You must identify a widely beloved hero, systematically destroy their reputation until the very people they saved turn on them, and then force them to watch as you slaughter their loved ones, leaving them with absolutely nothing before you steal their innate destiny.

For the Sin of Gluttony: You must descend upon a peaceful village, butcher every living inhabitant, and devour their raw flesh and life essence in a single, unholy ritual to forcibly synthesize their lifespans and vitality into your own body.

For the Sin of Wrath: You must choose a defenseless kingdom, completely eradicate its entire population down to the last infant, and burn every town until the rivers run thick with blood and the entire territory is reduced to a permanently cursed, ash-filled wasteland.

For the Sin of Sloth: You must paralyze the leadership of a massive empire with a slow, agonizing poison, forcing them to remain fully conscious but completely helpless as you pull their strings from the shadows, letting their civilization rot from within while you reap the rewards of their slow demise."

Hearing the tests, Neo’s brows knitted together.

’These tests truly show the extent of being evil,’ he mused. ’But how should I handle this one? If I refuse, I will be deemed suspicious.’

As an Eragon, he wouldn’t feel any hesitation in doing any of the tasks, but he still didn’t want to do them.

Part of it was because he wasn’t capable of doing them with his current level of power, and part of him still wanted to keep his rationality. However, the Primordial Demon Seed felt too important to ignore. He could not let go of the chance of acquiring it.

He coughed to clear his throat and said to the creature, "Ahem, I do not have any problem with achieving any of these tasks. It is just that I am not strong enough to do them right now. Can you lower the requirements a bit?"

< Oh, you’re from a lesser world? I assumed wrong then > the creature rumbled. <Still, I cannot lower the threshold for anyone. Since time immemorial, thousands of candidates have sought the Demon Seed, yet none received such privileges. You will not receive any either, as the trial must remain fair for everyone.>

Neo thought hard, feeling the precious chance slipping away.

Soon, an idea formed in his mind.

"Sire, I am but a faithful scion of the Vellsing lineage, entirely devoted to proving to the infinite realms that the Demon Race is supreme. So I ask only for a little leniency: let the Primordial Demon Seed choose.

If my soul is unworthy, a treasure of such cosmic magnitude will undoubtedly reject my existence and incinerate my vessel. But if it finds me worthy and chooses me, I swear to bind my fate to its will. Once its power accelerates my growth, I will execute every single one of those taboo sins across the grander realms. Let the seed test my capacity, not the physical limitations of this lesser world."

Would the creature accept?
