Chapter 384: Ultimate technique

"What a terrible attack." Lord Jara’s heart shook. He had sustained an injury, and if Shrouded Palm could attack with the same power three or four times again, then there was no doubt that he would be dead.

But that single powerful attack left Shrouded Palm depleted, and his hold on Lord Jara reduced. One by one, the shrouded flesh rivers began to appear, joining the two already split.

Lord Jara realized that he could not directly combine the river that had been cut into two! It would take days before he could heal completely.

The two rivers still looked great, but the imposing aura had greatly diminished.

Even then, the rivers still crashed down on Shrouded Palm, submerging him in a sea of flesh, drowning him! Shrouded Palm, who had already been weakened by his first fight, then depleted by his own technique, could not offer any meaningful resistance as he was being drowned to death!

As his life reached its end, he could only muster a faint chuckle. "I have fully repaid my debts. Lord Jara... you have fallen into a trap!"

Lord Jara felt a chill down to his core. Swiftly, he sent his senses spinning, and what he saw made him freeze! Of course! How could he forget Galenight?

The battle in the tower must have weakened the shield, and combined with Galenight’s own attack, then it’s really not that surprising.

Galenight was also in his True Form. It was made of a giant head with dozens of faces fighting for space. His torso and lower body were small and yet easily bore his weight.

Where the eye sockets and nostrils should be were shrunken heads. His voice rumbled, making the air tremble. "I did not expect Shrouded Palm to die here. In the end, he was not truly fitted for Hollow Grave."

The idea of Hollow Grave was brought on by self-interest. It is what powers it, and ironically what also keeps it together. But Shrouded Palm isn’t like that. He’s someone Galenight once rescued who then dedicated his life to him. Alas, the man was too upright for the person he was following. Even then, he remained stubborn to the very end.

If it were other members, they would have run instead of throwing their lives away.

Although Galenight felt a ripple of emotion for his death, his goal was ultimately Lord Jara and the Beloved. So he pushed it aside easily.

His True Form leaped directly into the middle of one of the rivers, mouths opening as he began to drink.

Lord Jara howled painfully. He directed his two rivers to drown Galenight, but his rivers were already diminished. There weren’t enough of them to drown Galenight!

With no other choice, he directed his other river to start running!

With his escape, he would be able to regenerate to his full power, although it might take him years, temporarily putting him out of action. It was better than getting killed!

When Shrouded Palm said he had fallen into a trap, he wasn’t really telling a lie! With him getting injured by the dead man, he was no match for Galenight at all.

And the rate at which Galenight was draining his other flesh river was so fast that there wouldn’t be any left before long! The numerous heads and mouths surrounding the big head were all drinking. At the same time, Galenight’s eyes were fixed on the other river that was rushing to get away.

But how could he let that happen?

He raised his big head, flesh water dripping from his mouth. All mouths opened and flickered with light.

Fire. Ice. Water. Lightning. Necromantic beams. Gravity. And more.

They all flickered from the mouths, condensed aspects of the different heads he’d gathered. It was one of his ultimate techniques. He had no name for it, but its devastating power couldn’t be denied.

One of the drawbacks of this ultimate technique is the fact that he needs ’fuel’ to use it. He can’t use his own power because his power is actually the heads he nurtured and cultivated.

The space around them grew heavy. The Master Knight’s necromantic heads had been drained of power, hundreds of different aspects combined. Dozens of different beams shot through the air, creating different effects. Some dried the space around them with their heat, some caused electricity to flicker, and some froze all around them, but all of them were pillars of light that streaked through the air with sonic booms.

The fleeing flesh river cursed and was forced to a stop to confront the attack.

The flesh river splintered into thousands of thread-like whips with thorns. It looked like an abnormal octopus with no head and yet with thousands of hands.

Lord Jara bellowed. "Thousand Whip Technique!"

Each whip lit up with yellow hands and then, in unison, they moved. They sounded like the buzzing of hundreds of howling voices. They turned into a storm in a second, a ball of chaotic energy with thousands of whips moving at astonishing speed.

This storm flew at the incoming attack without regard!

The two forces collided with an earth-shattering shockwave. The effects completely wiped out the tower and destroyed the surrounding grounds. Fire ravaged, lightning destroyed, and blades of wind cut huge furrows in the ground.

Even Galenight was forced back by the shockwave. His eyes widened. "Jara... you have been keeping this under your belt all this while! What a technique!"

Knights are notorious for their techniques, and they always do their best to keep them secret as trump cards.

And although the technique, Thousand Whip, is strong, it wasn’t done with Jara’s full power as the man was already wounded. On the other hand, Galenight was at his peak when he used his ultimate technique. The result couldn’t be more clear.

"If that attack had been directed at me... that wouldn’t have gone well," Galenight muttered. As a long-distance fighter, he’s always wary of physical combat.

His senses scanned the surroundings, and he at first found no traces of Lord Jara. He paused and then thought about it. "If he’s dead... shouldn’t there be something remaining?!"

Even Shrouded Palm’s remains were still imprinted on the surroundings and wouldn’t be cleared for a while. In fact, under the right conditions, they might even turn into a baleful spirit or an artifact! That’s the mark that people in the Grandmaster rank and above have on the world. And it will only grow stronger with advancement!

So where is Lord Jara?

Galenight shook with alarm. Galenight flew up into the air, and simultaneously the heads instantly opened their mouths and then turned downward, casting different beams directly into the ground!

An explosion created a crater, and what appeared to be the last of Lord Jara emerged, struggling weakly to get away.

Although the man was wounded and almost destroyed by Galenight’s ultimate attack, he must have wanted to come back and inflict a wound. Or he just didn’t want to die alone and wanted to drag him along.

Galenight released even more beams until the man was utterly destroyed. Only then did he come back down and gaze at the flesh river.

Sometimes when a Grandmaster dies, they might revert to their True Form or human form. It all depends on the Knight and the situation. Lord Jara isn’t reverting back as he’s staying in his True Form.

"I finally have the head of a Grandmaster to work with. This will increase my power, but to think I have to sacrifice the life of a Grandmaster for it."

Galenight was strangely solemn. With his necromancy, he began to gather the remains of the flesh river, and at the same time he used his senses to see if he could detect any life around. And he did find some still alive, but they were unconscious, all of them Master Knights, as those lesser had already perished.

He began the process of killing them and collecting their heads. Even the heads of the lesser Knights were collected. He would refine them, and with him already almost depleting his reserves to use his ultimate technique, he needed to stock up quickly before any other fights cropped up.

"With this destruction, it would only be a matter of time before the Beloved start searching for me. I need to hide and get myself filled up with power. There’s no way they would overlook this. Killing Master Knights can still be glossed over, but a Grandmaster... no way! This might even turn into a full-out war."

Next, Galenight reverted back into his human form and began to muddle the auras in the surroundings. There was no way he could totally erase his and Shrouded Palm’s involvement. At least not with the time he was working with. So he used some of his remaining heads to muddle it up.

It would buy him some time.

Just then, as Galenight was preparing to leave, he felt something like an invisible blanket covering the space around him.

Galenight’s eyes widened. "Something is locking down this place? They got here so fast?"
